Due to Popular Demand, Capcom USA May Not Bring Rockman Xover West

x006And to think, so many people have said that Capcom doesn’t listen to its fans or care what they want.

Due to the enormous outpouring of vehement rage at the very existence of Rockman Xover (which our own Heat Man was less than impressed with), Capcom Senior Vice-President Christian Svensson addressed the prolonged absence from the Western market in an Ask Capcom thread, stating that “Based upon the largely negative feedback from MM fans, I’ve requested that we place any Americas release on hold for the time being,” adding that the prospect will be revisited at a later time.

In its native land of Japan, the game has previously ascended to the #3 spot on iTunes and earned over 100,000 registered players, so at least poor OVER-1 is getting some love somewhere. That said, would you be interested if the premise (story, characters) were revisited in another, more traditional format?

I have mixed feelings about this news. On one hand, I’m not really surprised, considering the *ahem* exceptionally negative reaction this game has generated. However, I’m not keen on the thought that there’s yet another Mega Man game that we’re not getting.

Good. We don’t want it anyway. I want a separate Megaman title. NO MORE CROSSOVERS! Somebody needs to tell Capcom this. -_-

  3. Puffball says:

Well! How ’bout that! Now we just gotta make it clear that the general consesus is that we want a *console* or even *handheld* game! Console preferably, since we’re getting Project X-Zone, finally, on the 3DS. I love crossovers, they’re fun for the mixing up of styles, characters, items, and character interactions. I’m more disappointed that Capcom basically jumped the mobile game bandwagon with Xover instead of actually putting effort into something that could be more well-received, and *then* make some kind of mobile offshoot. So, no, Capcom we currently don’t want this turd. Thank you for temporarily listening.

  4. Good. That game is pure rubbish. It’s a shame that OVER-1′s first outing is something so half-assed it took a team of three Newgrounders to duplicate it.

And that’s Sven trying to make up for the crap they decide down in Japan yet another time.

The Get Me Off The Moon campaign speaks for itself.

There is no way that Capcom is unaware of it. They know that Mega Man fans want Mega Man. What they don’t want is a subpar cheap knock-off man.

  7. TheMaverickk says:

Well if they are really listening to fans, they can start by checking out all the comments about the “Get me off the moon campaign”. There’s at least 100,000 comments if not more.

If they want to listen to fans, they can start right over there.

I know some people fear that by Capcom will think we don’t want Mega Man just because a lot of fans were appalled by XOver, but as far as I’m concerned if fans had simply rolled over and accepted XOver, it would just mean we would get more of that.

It would tell Capcom that we are desperate and Mega Man fans will take anything that we can get, as opposed to the fact that Mega Man fans have standards, and expect a level of quality out of our Mega Man titles.

If saying no to XOver means I don’t get any Mega Man for a long time, then so be it. I’d rather have no Mega Man, then Sub-par Man.

It may suck to not have any new titles to play, but thankfully there is a vast library of Mega Man games that are actually fun, polished and worth spending time with. I’ll play those titles before supporting something like XOver.

Since supporting XOver would only send the message to Capcom that we enjoyed the game, and they should produce more games like it.

  9. Why am I not surprised? They should have brought back Dash 3 or Universe.

  10. I know but Capcom can easily choose to ignore the positive I’m afraid they’ll be even more apt to ignoring it because of this.

  11. You see it that way, but the folks at capcom may not. As much as I agree with you, there’s no way to tell how Capcom would take that whole non support of Megaman games in the Xover style. it could fuel their excuse not to bring out anything worth while. There’s two sides to the coin.

Damn, I mean I wasn’t thrilled about it specifically, but I would like SOMETHING new for megaman. I wanted to at least get it and try it out- now I can’t? I really was excited about the fact that it was going to have something related to X, my favorite megaman. We haven’t seen anything for his crew in forever =( Can US players play the japanese version to get something?

Actually the JP servers shut down last september

Capcom just please oh please send out a new megaman game. I have waited years and years and I just can’t take I anymore you need to make a few games for the 3ds and dsi and other consoles. I just want to see the blue bomber on a screen. I cried for days when I herd that megaman was possibly finished and how people hated capcom for doing this. Just please start making a new game!!!!! ;(
