Capcom Opens Beta Version of Unity Suggestion Box
Remember back in late November, when we told you about a new initiative hinted at by Capcom Community Manager Seth Killian that would allow Mega Man fans, and Capcom fans in general, to let their voices be heard for new games they would like to see (such as MegaMan Legends 3)?
Well, Capcom has now officially revealed what that initiative is, and opened the Capcom*Unity Suggestion Box! And it works as follows:
People submit suggestions, and then everyone votes on which ones are the best. The voting process is simple: just click the “promote” and “demote” buttons next to an idea. Promote stuff you like, demote stuff you don’t like. The more people like a certain suggestion, the more the idea will rise to the top. You can only vote once on each idea, but feel free to vote for your own.
Other questions in their mini-FAQ note that not only are they listening, but votes matter in helping to separate the cream from the crop. Furthermore, “your top overall suggestions will be reviewed at our internal meetings. That means every 2 weeks, everybody that matters here is going to get an earful about what’s important to you.”
You can get the full scoop here, but a word of advice before you start drafting submissions: look around first. Mainfinger pointed out to me that “at least two different Legends 3 posts, meaning upvotes are split.” That is not constructive work, people! One would hope that such similar posts would be taken together, but as of this writing, we cannot safely assume as much.
“This is just a Beta, but if it has problems, suggest improvements by using the Suggestion Box. For everything else, the sky is the limit. Resident Evil Outbreak crew, I’m looking at you. Powerstone 3 people? Yes, this is your chance. Mega Man Legends lovers? Your time is at hand!”
Emphasis mine.
And of course, you have to be a Unity member to vote… but why wouldn’t you be?
Oh, and if anyone was wondering, yes, I am going to add “Mega Man Dating: Kinky Navigators Edition,” just as soon as I’m sure no one else has ripped off my idea.

Proto Stryker, what is it about ZX that strikes you as being especially “commercial”?
@ Boyle: I’m not Stryker, but the ZX series struck me as a series that tried very hard to ride on the popularity of the Zero and X series.
I mean, it’s like they were expecting that the new characters would not be well-recieved and/or be remembered on their own terms, so they threw in the biometals as gameplay homages to the X and Zero series.
…Not another Darth Maver-esque troll war… Ugh…
@Masterge77:
“with the Mu Metal, and the Five Stars (I don’t think Sirius meant the stars on the title screen, cause those have really nothing to do with “the final days of Earth”, as those stars are only major achievements), not to mention that Geo and Solo will have to fight to the death one day”
These were direct references to Crimson Dragon SP and Rogue ZZ. Nothing more. Yes, I know this for a fact. Star Force 1 and 2 did the EXACT same thing in their respective post-game areas.
Not to cop out on this one, boyle, but pretty much what Alilatias said. The Zero series had memorable main characters (if the standard bosses were not). The ZX series, however, is highly unremarkable compared to Zero or X. The biometals are the selling point, and the big bosses are just the rehashed Zero Guardians with no real personality traits to speak of on their own.
I like them, don’t get me wrong, but ZX is designed to play off of the popularity of Zero without doing anything special other than “play as the bosses”.
I’m looking forward for Mega Man legends 3.
I hope i’m not offending anyone, but the title “Mega Man dating” got me concernd sence i am in love with Mega Man myself. I have very specail stronge feelings for him. I hope you guys don’t think i’m weird or anything.
Again, sorry if i sound rude to you. I really didn’t mean any harm.
Plus, i wish someday that there would be X9, and perhaps new games of Powered up, ZX/ZXA, and Starfoce.
Hmm…it does have these links to preceding series, but I’m not sure that’s looking at the whole picture. While Capcom certainly does a number of things for the money, those gameplay decisions seem like part of a justified strategy to me, one put in place to perhaps intercept fan outcry/disinterest, and to frankly just make it, contrary to what you’re suggesting, fresher.
I doubt any of the ZX protagonists have as much recognition as SF Mega Man, because none of them are really Mega Man. You could sort of make the argument against Star Force too, but you know it’s not the same; ZX has a bunch of Mega Men, none that necessarily fit most gamers’ definitions of the term, so I think the tie-ins are there to safeguard against certain negative perceptions.
As for making it fresher, think if the series protagonist HAD just been another new incarnation of Mega Man. How’d that be any better, in terms of originality, than having a Mega Man guise as just one of many available forms and movesets? The latter seems like the winning formula. Could they have charted out an all new type of Mega Man sidescroller with no Biometals or defined Mega Man character? Would’ve been cool, but I see it as Capcom making an understandable compromise.
@boyle
I kind of think your going too far into it. It seems (At least to me) that most of the ZX series was just a homage. Biometals, Those three Professors being named after the three in the original series, the bad guy being essentially Wiel, again.
I certainly don’t have a problem with the game(As I own them both ^o^) but I can see how it can be looked upon as “commercial”, as the any of the elements from the game relate to something of another Megaman game.
@Forci:
Considering that Geo ALREADY beat Crimson Dragon, and that Meteor G was destroyed before the bonus chapter (even though you can re-visit it), Rouge ZZ was mearly an upgraded version of Rouge Z, like every other boss ghost out there, now I know that Starforce 2 talked about the title screen stars in it’s bonus chapter (though not in a direct way, but more direct than Starforce 3), once you recieve all 5 title screen stars, well, there’s nothing left to do, you beat the game pretty much 101%, there is no “Earth’s End” or any ultimate evil that Geo has to face, just the end of the game, It’s probably just a cliffhanger for the next game, the “Five Stars” were probably also part of that cliffhanger and not the title screen stars
Now this is just my opinion, don’t hate me for this, as it’s just my OPINION!!!!
@Masterge77:
And it is an opinion that is flat-out WRONG.
The five stars in SF2 unlocked Ra Mu Xa as a final boss, which in turn unlocked Rogue SX. SF1′s stars unlocked Andromeda Infinity. Even Battle Network followed this pattern near the end.
The “bonus chapters” are just that: bonuses. They are not at all meant to be part of the main story, but only as something extra to do. This is common knowledge among BN/SF players, so how can you not know this?
…..Although… Heh, referring to Rogue ZZ as “just another ghost” tells me that you never even played the games you are trying to defend, so……keep your purely hate-based comments to yourself and come back when you actually know what you are talking about?
@Andy:
I know it maybe seems like I’m reading too much into it. Truth is though, this is some of what developers really think about. Especially when the developer is closely tied to, or flat-out IS the publisher. Don’t doubt they try to account for these things.
Otherwise I kind of think that people viewing ZX as “commercial” are looking at exactly what makes ZX, ZX, but not through the clearest of prisms. All the Mega Man games have things in common, but sure, ZX and Zero are the two series that feel the most alike. That’s because ZX is the deliberate and intended continuation and spiritual successor to the Zero series. There’s no pretense there, that’s the way it was meant to be. If they wanted to ride the popularity of MMZ, guess what they would’ve done; made more MMZ games. They didn’t though, they ENDED Mega Man Zero, and STARTED Mega Man ZX. And in bringing the series home on the DS, they did push the envelope with the game while keeping it tied with MMZ to continue building on a single plotline that jumps off into Legends.
I like the games. I’m not accusing anyone of not liking the games, I bet you do. I think maybe we’re just misinterpreting exactly what ZX is supposed to be here.
there HAS to be a megaman legends 3, the serie cant end right there, whats gonna happen with roll and tron, it cant end ere, megaman has to be alive!!!
with who is him gonna be? with roll? with roll?
Mega Man is mine. (hugs Mega Man) =^_^=
Besides, they’re brother and sister.
No offence though, really. ^_^
Wow, I’ve never seen people get worked up over fans downvoting games that they don’t think is necessary. I mean, jeez, when someone says they downvoted Legends 3/Star Force 4/ZX3, everyone gets butthurt. But when people downvote X9/MHX2/Command Mission 2/EXE7, it’s AWWWRIIITE! I don’t know about you guys who are sane in this fandom, but this whole thing seems pretty backwards, huh?
As a matter of fact, it’s the equivalent of fantards getting whiny when someone doesn’t like something that’s popular, but when someone bashes something underrated, no one says anything.
I mean, I know this fandom has it’s share of fantards, but I didn’t think it was this bad! Sheesh!
İ think it would be good if thye megaman legends 3 would appear at least it would make a sequel
Megaman Legends 3.
Its been 10 years since Megaman Legends 2 was released, and with the appearance of Megaman Trigger in Tatsunoko vs Capcom, its obvious that Capcom is aware that Mr. Trigger is still there and that fans want to see him in action again.
MegaMan Legends 3 pl0x
not to be rude but id rather see a x9 and a zx3 then a legends 3. mmbn and mm sf are just side storys which dont have no relation to the original but there really good.
Release it now ^_^
Yeah please do I tried that box thing and i’ve known it for a loong time I think you guys must have enough votes by now. If you do make it then it also HAS to be the last or your just butt raping megaman even more… And please try and throw legends into the story line of mm and mmx I know its legends is wayyyy into the future but it’d be nice if you would make it more clearer and connected even if its just one part of the game or just a old disc you gotta bust ur ass to get. And if you put in Zero then please don’t make him look stupid like in the Gamecube MMBN lol
Or it’d be sweet if you just dead the whole Zero plan and bring back Bass or Protoman… Plus I forgot Zero is dead “supposedly” lol
def have wanted a mml3 since the 2nd came out back in 2000. but mmx9??? come on… that series technically ended back in mmx5
. Capcom just wanted to make more money so they put in filler story and added more characters cause apparently the x series made them money. but x5 with zero gone leads off into mega man zero. plus the series just started to feel slow after they got ride of the anime look of the ps games and went to ps2. but ya…. def could go for a sequel to a game that needs a sequel. MML3!!!
A suggestion box. A chance for legends 3
YYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA[ten hours later]AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA[breathe for air]AAAAAAAAY and maybe dome other ideas I have
Hey where’s megaman legends III i need to when will it be out in the market??
