Rockman Tracks from Zoku Fami Compi

The curious licensed Famicom album Zoku Fami Compi is out today in Japan. As we reported before, it’s the second CD in a series of arrangements from various Famicom (NES) games. Given the interests of viewers to this site, I thought it relevant to let you hear the album’s tracks from Rockman and Rockman 2.

Rockman 2‘s track is a Flash Man arrangement. Pretty basic sort of sound; nice beat and instrument choice, but little variation or spice over the original song. I feel like I’ve heard this sort of arrangement plenty of times, and it doesn’t help that the song loop gets repetitive.

Meanwhile, the Rockman track features Cut Man’s theme. And… boy is it different. Admittedly, it does remind me of the sounds my NES would produce when I’d play Mega Man with a Game Genie. Effort for creativity I suppose, but it’s still… yeah I don’t think I need to say more.

All in all, I guess I’m disappointed? I had no real expectations, and I’m sure there are those who will dig this sound. But all the same, I’m still hoping that a true Mega Man album gets released this year.

    Ugh. :(

This version of Cut Man’s theme sounds awful IMO, but Flash Man’s one more than makes up for it.

What is that Cut Man theme? Sounds like a bad dubstep attempt.

Really? I like cutman’s! And I don’t even like dubstep!!!

You know… if it weren’t for the annoying leads, the Cut Man song would be pretty cool. I mean, everything else about it sounds pretty cool. But those leads…. ack. Maybe if they were used in moderation instead of the entire time.
