Capcom Trademark Points to Mega Man… or Not Mega Man (Update: Not)
Here’s a curious little story from GoNintendo. Apparently two Capcom trademarks have surfaced in the US trademark database. They are EXE D and EXE S. Already speculation has it that these are pointing to the Rockman EXE series, and if this were in Japan I’d say that’s a good possibility. But as the series is known as Mega Man Battle Network here, that makes it a little more shaky. It may, small chance, be indicative of a US release of Operate Shooting Star, but for now it’s just too little to go on. I’ll put an Operate Shooting Star image in this post regardless.
Edit: A couple commentors are saying this trademark is probably related to a Capcom game known as Exed Exes, but I think they’re insane and can’t be trusted, and you should mock them. By the way, have you checked out our Mega Man 10 contest?
Edit again: And hey, it’s not like Exed Exes and Mega Man have nothing in common. ![]()

Probably more likely than MegaMan : (
As it turns out, “Exed and Exes” is the name of an obscure top down shooter from Capcom in 1985: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exed_Exes
Perhaps Capcom is merely re-registering the name for a digital/portable release?
Charlatans, all of you. It’s clearly a Mega Man game!
I was gonna mention Exed Exes as well. I have access to an Arcade Legends machine nearby so I’m familiar with older Capcom arcade titles.
I thought maybe Exed Exes was Namco for a second, but I guess that’s Xevious.
There used to be sooo many shooters.
actually Exed Exes is its Japanese name, this is an American trademark no? why would USA use a Japanese name when they already have an english name. so it still has a good chance that its megaman
oh i forgot to mention that USA’s American name is Savage Bees
Just a small detail, but if you join the two letters from EXE D and EXE S we get DS.
But of course, everyone probably noticed this already.
Savage Bees? That’s a pretty crazy name. Reminds me of that scene from Tommy Boy.
Savage Bees? That’s odd. The machine I mentioned before has the game entirely in english with Exed Exes on the title screen and credits. I’m still holding on to the idea for now.
What DuoDynamo said seems to be likely…
Can’t be. I have never heard of a time in which Capcom files trademarks for anything Rockman related -in the US- before it is announced in Japan.
I don’t think this is related to Rockman.EXE at all. It’s still about 4 months early (they usually announce new Network timeline games in late June/early July).
There’s also a curious lack of a CoroCoro ‘Create-A-Character’ contest this year too. Has that ever happened before? (Except for the obvious year in which EXE had just ended and nobody knew about Star Force, in which I don’t think they had any reason to hold that contest then.)
…And this is what happens when I copy/paste comments that I just made at GoNintendo to over here. I completely miss the article’s point.
If this was OSS being released in the States, it would have most likely been announced by now. Either that, or an announcement is imminent. For the past few years, EXE/SF release dates in the US had usually been announced no later than late Feburary.
(God, I hope this isn’t coming to the US. I don’t want Capcom getting any ideas of turning the EXE series into a Japan-only RPG series, since OSS is sure to flop here in the US.)

Wasn’t it on the NES? I’m sure I played it sometime on this 250-in-1 NES cart. Maybe it’s gonna be a remake.
I don’t think the game is Exed exes because our Capcom, no matter how money hungry they are, they would never recycled a (non-famous) game from the 80s to get some cash, common, let’s face it, no one these days would ever played a starship bullet hell game anymore (beside touhou, which is a completely different matter)so I think it’s a pretty fat chance that this is indeed a new Megaman BN (Humming BN1 theme) and also, the Exe D and Exe S got two different name (do you know what game of Capcom usually split into two different version with different name? Yeah, you got it right)
It would highly be unlikely for a remake of “Savage Bees”, for they have no intentions of recycling any obscure 80s game that was made before the legendary NES game that put Capcom on the map, being Megaman 2, and since they are two diffrent entries in the database, they might be working titles for a pair of Battle Network/Starforce games, being Battle Network 7/Starforce 4 respectively……
Haha. I’m not asking anyone to agree with me, guys. I just think it’s a little strange that the trademarks, even two put together, happens to be the name of an already established Capcom game, that’s all. As Alilatias says, BN games have been announced right around now anyway, so I guess we’ll know soon if Capcom history repeats itself.
Random thought: Whatever this thing is might be announced tomorrow, during Nintendo’s Media Summit. This is assuming that it’s something Nintendo-related.
*is shot for promoting the already huge hype train*
