Mighty No. 9 Video from the Game Developers Conference

About a month ago, we got a look at Keiji Inafune giving the αROM of Mighty No. 9 a test drive to see how things were progressing. Now, at the 2014 Game Developers Conference, a new video featuring that same ROM has been released with some other fun bits included.

In addition to introductory looks at Mighty Nos. 1 through 9, we get to see Beck in action more clearly as well. We’ve seen his running, gunning, and dashing maneuvers before, but he also breaks out a cool new maneuver which allows him to leap back while raining fire down on an enemy from an angle above.

Though Beck’s dash resembles the move used by the likes of Bass and X, further footage from the video shows that it can also be used in a manner similar to Mega Man’s slide, allowing him to maneuver into smaller areas. Soon after, he displays a variety of hanging maneuvers, one similar to the ledge-hanging performed by MegaMan Volnutt in the Mega Man Legends games (or Samus in Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission, if you want a 2D comparison), and another from a ring suspended in the air, reminiscent of X and Zero in Mega Man X5 and X6.

Finally, at the very end, we get a brief glimpse of… a robot apple styled after Zero and Proto Man? Wha?

Thanks to Heat Man, Press Start, and TinyCartridge for the tip!
