Yet More Rockman Xover Details - Getting to Know OVER-1

Following up from our Famitsu scoop yesterday, now we have more details and some nice visuals from The bulk of the information concerns the background of the newly named character, OVER-1. As you know, OVER-1 is a robot created in a collaboration between Dr. Light and Dr. Cossack, in order to save the Crossover World that has become threatened by Dr. Wily, Sigma, and other forces of evil now cooperating together. Originally, OVER-1 was a mere all-purpose Reploid with no battle capabilities to speak of. However, OVER- has the special ability to equip "Battle Memory," which can change his abilities and unleash unfathomable potential.

Uhh... wait... Dr. Light and Dr. Cossack made a Reploid?... Like, is this before Dr. Light made X? Was Dr. Cossack ever involved in Reploid research? I mean, my head is kind of...

Anyway, the various heroes of the Rockman universe have become trapped in a gulf of space-time within this strange Crossover World, and now only OVER-1 can save them AND the future! (Though whose future, we're not too certain.) Use Battle Memory to customize your own OVER-1, grab your friends, and save Crossover World from certain doom!

Besides that, the only other info we have is confirmation that Rockman Xover will be appearing at Tokyo Game Show, coming up later this month. I imagine the lines will be incredible.


Results for the ASIAGRAPH 2011 Rockman Award

This one probably hasn't been on a lot of minds, but ASIAGRAPH finally announced their results from judging their special Rockman themed digital arts contest, and held their main exhibition in Tokyo on October 20~22. I'd have liked to have seen it actually, but it slipped my mind too, not to mention Tokyo isn't exactly down the street from me. The grand prize winner was the work "Battlefield" by VOFAN of Taiwan (pictured right). ASIAGRAPH has posted many of the winning pictures organized by their placement in the judging, though unfortunately they're merely cropped thumbnails. However, you can also jump over to Rockman Unity, where Ucchy-san has a report on the exhibition with his own photographs of many of the works being displayed.

I sure hope they release prints of these or some such. I'd pay good money to have this fantastic artwork brightening up my room!

MM2 Snags Honorable Mention in Smithsonian Vote

You may recall earlier this year the Smithsonian American Art Museum was running a vote for games to showcase in their 2012 Art of Video Games exhibit. Eighty titles have been selected to represent the various systems and generations of gaming over the past 30 years. Mega Man 2 was a contender for NES action game of the 8-bit era, but it ultimately lost out to Super Mario Bros. 3. I'm not terribly surprised; without a doubt the 8-bit era was one where high quality games were constantly popping up from around the corner. Mega Man 2 is a great title, but it also had quite a lot of stiff competition for the time. As a nominee, I don't think Mega Man 2 will be represented in an exhibit, but it's still a strong show of just what an impact the game for its time! Lega Man? Or Mego Man?

Raphael Phillips submitted us this interesting artistic concept project known as the Mega Man Lego Collection. While I try to figure out what the best shorthand name is, you can hop over to his page to check out his works. The Lego branded video games are pretty popular so far as I know, so who's to say Lega Man wouldn't work? Just look at that dashing grin. Also, knowing Dr. Wily's robotic engineering skills, I wouldn't be surprised if some Robot Masters actually do have Legos in them. Anyway, I've about dried up of jokes, so check the break for a montage of Mego Man using his special weapons.

Screens and Art for Mega Man Zero 1-4 (i.e. Collection)

Hop on over to Capcom*Unity to check out some new assets for the upcoming Mega Man Zero Collection, set to release this summer. Normally I make an asset gallery for this kind of thing, but since none of the images are indicative of any new features or anything, I'll just let you head to C*U to soak it in. What can I say?
