Genzoman Reveals Yet Another Mega Man That Never Was

At the recent Game Dev Santiago event, the artist known as Genzoman revealed the work he was commissioned to do for a possible new Mega Man game that ultimately never came to fruition.

Initially, they tried taking a more Pixar-styled approach to the project (seen at left), but when that didn’t fly, they opted for something more in the vein of Marvel/Disney’s Iron Man (at right). Ultimately, however, neither piece was able to wow whoever was in charge enough to greenlight the project.

Of some interest is the timing of this commission, which was around 2009 to 2010 — around the same time that Armature Studios was doing their own First-Person Shooter (FPS) reinvention of Mega Man X, “Maverick Hunter.” Genzoman doesn’t believe the two projects were related, however, which leads one to wonder just how many of these different “seeds” were being planted around that time, and how much might be left to discover.
