Mega Man 9 and 10 Now on PlayStation Now

In light of yesterday’s update about voting for Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10 being among the games fans can vote for to be backwards compatible on the Xbox One, it has been brought to my attention by Lanceheart and Forci that the games are already available for the non-backwards compatible PlayStation 4. In a fashion, at least.

At some point, the two games were added to Sony’s PlayStation Now online streaming rental service, which is available not only on the PlayStation 4, but the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Sony TVs, and PlayStation TV as well.

Of course, the catch is that by virtue of streaming/renting them, the games will never be yours to own on the platform. Well, “yours to own” inasmuch as anything digital ever is (licenses and all that).

For those interested, PlayStation Now boasts a variety of rental options, from $1 per day for a week (or $7/week, technically) to options for 4-hour, 30 day, and 90 rental periods. The Combo Pack for PlayStation 3 that was recently on sale is $14.99 for the two games, so how much of a value is actually there is yours to decide; suffice to say, if you’re playing in Sony’s PlayStation 4 yard, you’re playing by their rules, and this is the hand you’ve been dealt.
