Update: The Misadventures of Tron Bonne Now On PlayStation Store

By this point, a lot of Mega Man fans have probably given up hope of ever seeing anything from the Mega Man Legends series appear in any way, shape, or form. However, a new hope has sprung forth by way of the Entertainment Software Rating Board.

Not only has a title from the series appeared on the ESRB website, but it’s also perhaps the rarest of the lot: The Misadventures of Tron Bonne. Rated “E for Everyone” with a content descriptor simply for “Violence,” the entry states that it has been rated for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation Portable gaming consoles.

For those who don’t know, The Misadventures of Tron Bonne is a prequel to the original Mega Man Legends game, released between it and the sequel, Mega Man Legends 2. As the title suggests, it follows the trials and tribulations of Tron Bonne and her Servbots as they seek to acquire the one million Zenny needed to rescue her brothers, Teisel and Bon, from Lex Loath and his associate, Glyde.

The gameplay is much more varied than that of the other games in the series. In addition to the more traditional style ruin digs that put you behind the controls of the Gustaff mech, there are also puzzle stages which involve moving crates around and digs which have you follow the Servbots by way of a remote camera drone. And speaking of the Servbots, you’re also afforded the opportunity to interact with all 40 throughout the massive Gesellschaft airship, whipping them into shape if they get too complacent and designating one as your favorite.

When asked about the game by IGN before it was announced for its initial release, Capcom stated that “We have no plans for at present to release that title. However, given the popularity of Mega Man Legends, it’s definitely a possibility.” Clearly, it became more than a possibility, but a certainty. Time to hope that this news, history will repeat itself.

As for the other Mega Man Legends titles, there is no sign of ESRB ratings for them at this time.

Update: Well, that was fast. Capcom Unity has confirmed that The Misadventures of Tron Bonne is now available to purchase on the PlayStation Store in North America, and even helpfully shows what some of the aftermarket prices are for this rare game that you can now pick up for a mere six dollars. It also has a look at the odd rendered version of Tron used for the American box art.
