Mega Man X2 Coming to European Wii U Virtual Console Tomorrow

Whereas Rockman X2 arrived on the Wii U Virtual Console in Japan on October 9th, it appears that all signs (which is to say, Wikipedia and this post on GoNintendo) point to the second major clash between X and the Reploids of Sigma’s original Maverick uprising will be hitting the European version of the service on Thursday, November 14th, 2013. In other words, tomorrow, though as of this writing, that would be today in Europe.

GoNintendo offers the following from the press release:

Mega Man X2 (Capcom, SNES VC) – €7.99/£5.49
In the action classic Mega Man X2, X must lead a fight against a new threat: Maverick Reploid rebels known as X-Hunters, plus eight new and deadlier Mavericks! Fortunately, Dr Light has supplied state of the art upgrades. Seek out the capsules to equip X with a Double Charge Shot, Body Armour and more. X can also ride in vehicles like the Mobile Attack Armour and Mobile Attack Cycle. And of course, X can use the abilities of defeated Mavericks, to turn the enemies’ weapons against them! This is the US version of the game.

Funny… if they were really deadlier, you’d think Sigma might have wheeled them out first. Oh well.

As long as we’re picking over details, has anyone else ever noticed that the Mega Man X series is one of the few, if not only, titles that mashes the number of each sequel right against the title? None of the others really do that: Mega Man 2, Mega Man Legends 2, Mega Man Zero 2, Mega Man Battle Network 2, Mega Man Star Force 2, but here, it’s Mega Man X2, with no space. Strange, isn’t it?

Can any of you name another series/franchise that does that? Not just Mega Man, but anything.

Anyway, the only other thought about this right now is of when the game will hit the North American Wii U Virtual Console. There’s been talk that Super Mario Bros. 3 was supposed to hit last week, but that clearly didn’t happen. Will it be this week? And if so, would they really push Mega Man X2 out alongside it? The plot thickens.

Thanks to Heat Man and Beed28 for the tips.
