Mega Man Joining Video Games Live

Well, this is certainly embarrassing; I thought that we had already covered this bit of news, but following a tip from reader Windsor Genesis and a search through our archives– nothing. So I guess this isn’t so much “new” as it is “information,” but nonetheless, I hope it serves some of you well.
This year, Video Games Live is adding some new music to its lineup, including themes from games such as Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross, Shadows of the Colossus, Earthworm Jim, Shenmue, and our favorite Blue Bomber, Mega Man! There’s no word on when they will be added to the roster, or which tunes, or if they’re already there for that matter, but if you find out, let us know.

For those interested, here’s VG maestro Tommy Tallarico’s video interview from earlier this year, where he spills the beans:

Video Games Live is a tremendous experience, but it really must be experienced live– YouTube just doesn’t even come close to cutting it. You can read more about the live experience here. It’s also the best excuse to pretend to be cultured around your friends and family:

“So, what are you doing tonight?” “Oh, I’m going out to the orchestra. And you?” “…Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball… again.”

Now, with all that said… we know he’s bringing Mega Man to the event, but still, that’s a pretty narrow description, given the breadth of the series and all of its many themes. I’d love to hear some classics such as Cut Man’s theme, the Dr. Wily Stage 1 theme from Mega Man 2, the Mega Man 2 title theme, and more, just from the Classic series alone. Some X tunes would rock as well. Which ones would you like to hear as performed by a live orchestra?
