MM9 sells 140K in first week

Following up on the news of Mega Man 9’s stellar 60,000 copies sold the in the day of its debut, the data at VGChartz shows that Mega Man 9 has sold an estimated 140,000 copies in its first week. And this is just on the Wii. And just in North America. This makes it currently the most popular WiiWare title, and it already ranks third among lifetime sales. With the game in sale in all regions now and nearly all consoles (the 360 version releases tomorrow), it’s likely that in all Mega Man 9 has sold much more worldwide. Incidentally, this also means MM9 eked out the impressive 130K copies of Bionic Commando: Rearmed sold in its first week.
While it’s much too early to be talking about a Mega Man 10, I do think this early success could well indicate a hopeful future for more downloadable Mega Man console games.
