Rockman 6 Coming to 3DS VC in Japan Next Week

For the first time ever, the final title in the NES series Mega Man 6 will be released in digital form – at least in Japan for now. Rockman 6: The Greatest Battle in History!! will become available on the Japanese eShop for ¥500, next week on the 12th. Japanese fans will now be able to ring in the 25th anniversary with all six classics in portable form!

Meanwhile in the west, we’ve still been waiting a long time for these games. Of course, you might recall that Mega Man 6 was actually published in the US by Nintendo, not Capcom. This is possibly a reason for the releases being tied up. Regardless, we know they’re working at them.

    Awesome. I hope to see all 6 released here in North America!

    I actually JUST got a 3DS the other day, I don’t own any retail games for it just yet, but I downloaded the 3D Classics for Kirby’s Adventure, Link’s Awakening DX, and the Game Gear Shinobi Game.

    I think my favorite thing about the system is going to be how I can have all my favorite old school games on a portable system, and I’m especially looking forward to getting the Mega Man games on it.

    If this is getting released in Japan next week is there no word on the PSN release? Usually they’re not far behind each other + there shouldn’t be any licensing issues putting it up on there! + if you know what you’re doing you can access the Japanese PSN store from any PS3 ;)

    I just hope we eventually get this on the European Wii VC as it’ll be the 1st time the game has ever reached these shores.

    Lets just hope Capcom continues releasing them i’d also like to see the SNES version of Rockman & Forte on Wii VC along with MM7

    Funny thing is that with R4i, you can easily play every single NES games on even the 3DS (not sure if 3DS XL is compatible with R4i though)
    …ahhh, I miss the day when JGonzo frown at me when I made a piracy post. Nostalgia,,,

    @Lumine1412:
    3DS(or any DS) owners in Japan will not have that luxury, however. The device has been banned from importing, and criminal charges can be possible, if you still own one in that territory.

    I’m happy for the Japanese eShop. I just have to wonder what’s taking so long for the US to get any worthwhile games on VC. Why is the US VC so pitiful, with its release schedule?

  6. S. Chu says:

    @EngineR2:

    Beats me. Already the first NES game is available in the PAL Region ( just released last month), Japan has already released the first 5 NES games with the 6th game coming next week, and all this time the US region still only has the first Megaman game for the Game Boy (released only about a year ago). What asset does PAL have that the US doesn’t?

    I’m sure CoA is trying the best they can at getting the Nes games ported to our shore, but for pete’s sake what’s up with CoJ? it’s not like they’re trying to translate an RPG.

  7. DuoDynamo says:

    I really hope they release Mega Man 7 too. I seem to be one of the only people who genuinely love that game.

  8. Jose says:

    I hope all 6 games come in North America. Why? Because I want to enjoy these six on my 3DS.

  9. Cyber Gog says:

    So I guess Virtual Console on the Wii doesn’t exist… huh

  10. Raz says:

    Are they ever releasing more on the PS3?

  11. Zippo says:

    @Raz

    Yeah, I’m wondering about this too. I want the Complete Works versions so I can have my glorious arranged music

  12. CapMaster says:

    Here’s to hoping that this means 6 will be available on the Wii Virtual Console soon. As one of the few people who loves 6, this would make a nice, late Christmas gift.

    I also love 7, and I am hoping that 7 and Rockman & Forte will be put up on Virtual Console soon, especially because R&F never received an American console release. But, we’ll have to take things one step at a time.
