More Chiptune Grooves to Enjoy
Posted on December 4th, 2012 by Heat Man
Following the release of RushJet1′s superb Mega Man 3 chiptune arrangement, here’s another new album in a similar vein. Sugar Sugar Marathon 20XX is a 25th anniversary celebratory album with tracks from across the main ten Mega Man titles with a predominant chiptune sound. Artists include Cjeeey, Hpizzle, Capcomposer & Thretris, FantomenK, Nestrogen, kami68k, 2PLAYER, ThePlasmas, NESMETAL and eLectrodreams.
You can listen to the album above, and if you like it, downloading is as simple as a right click here. Keep it up, fans. This has been the most musical anniversary ever!
Thanks for the tip, Joey!

Public Service Announcement: Just skip the first track. Seriously.
Seconded. First track is kind of all-around awful.
Wow, yeah. That first track is horrible. Glad I read other comments saying that, or I would have listened to that first track and written the whole album off as not worth listening to.
Scratch that. Most of these actually are pretty terrible. There are a couple diamonds in the rough (MM 2 & 3 Medley, MM 5 Title Screen, Betrayal at the Tournament), but most of them are really grating and many barely even quality as chiptune. Shame, as the promise of more excellent Mega Man chiptune remixes is always exciting.
The MM5 title remix is lovely. I love dubstep and drum & bass, and I can only hope someone’ll take this track and do a nice drumstep remix of the remix.. Remixception.
I only liked tracks 2 and 12. This album was disappointing.
I forgot how awesome Scott McNeil was as Wily in the Ruby Spears Mega Man.
Wow…uh sorry? I thought it was a pretty cool compilation haha.
I liked track 4, FantomenK is pretty good, same person did one of my favorite remixes of jet man’s theme from rokko chan
Since it’s a bunch of different artists this is a real mixed bag. I’d say the majority of it is pretty “meh.”
SEE YOU IN MY DREAMS IS CLOWN MAN’S LINE NOT ASTRO MAN’S ARGHBLARGH
I pretty much agree with the general opinion here. Mostly mediocre, with a few exceptions. I do really like Betrayal at the Tournament, though. MM6 has a great intro theme, but you don’t hear it remixed very often.
