Break Man Breaks Out in Mega Man #23

Following his third major defeat to Mega Man, Dr. Wily has been pretty quiet in the shadows. But in the 23rd issue of Archie’s Mega Man, it appears Wily will be pushing forward with the first move of his next major scheme, and with perhaps his most powerful piece yet: Break Man. As the summary indicates:

‘For the Bot Who Has Everything.’ Happy Birthday, Mega Man! The city celebrates their hero in style and Rock receives the recognition he deserves! What could ruin such a perfect day? How about a vengeful Dr. Wily and the mysterious Break Man?! Don’t miss this issue on the eve of the Sonic/Mega Man crossover!”

It certainly seems the Mega Man 3 storyline is prepping its debut, although it will have to wait for the When Worlds Collide storyline to pass. Either way, it should be fascinating to see the story focused on Break Man. In the actual Mega Man 3, a lot of that storyline felt like it went unsaid. This issue comes out in March, and it should be fun!

Sweet, I wonder how will they will be implementing Break Man in this comic compared to how he was in the original game the story is based off of? I am looking forward to seeing it and how they implement Gamma as well if they do.

    Dat Art!!!!

    Awesome cover.

Finally! After some filler, things finally get rolling!

And that’s a really good cover.

  5. Filler? Honestly, I’ve enjoyed some of the non-game related stories a lot more than the ones based off of the games, so it sounds weird to hear someone call them filler.

Also… I wouldn’t exactly call the introduction of Proto Man and a view into his past “filler”. Isn’t part of the definition of filler something that’s “unneeded”?

I agree with Clown Prince of Crime, the non-game issues were fun to read, especially the Emerald Spears and Blues arc.

Just that Protoman is working with Wily during the “When Worlds collide” arc is… kinda sad.
Hoped he’d stay on his brother’s side when fighting Eggman and Wily, but oh well…

  7. Steven Chase says:

The “Worlds Collide” arc is intended to occur in a different continuity than the comic so certain characters that haven’t been introduced yet (like Bass) can appear. (In other words, it’s not canon.) So it’s possible Proto Man will be a good guy in it.

As for filler, the closest we’ve had to that is issue 19 and the two side stories starring Guts Man in 17 and 18. But don’t say “filler” like it’s a bad thing. We need “filler” to flesh out other characters, especially in such a compressed format as a monthly comic book.

    Wow, that’s a NICE cover! :D

  9. ZeroX_Syaoran says:

Actually, when I said filler, I meant it in a way that it padded out the length of adaptations from one another. I never said it was unnecessary.

In fact, I enjoy some filler. Like in Naruto, the Four Tails arc in the anime was good filler. I enjoy good fillers, and Mega Man is one of them. I merely meant that after the non-game adaptations from 19 and beyond, things finally get rolling again.

Oh, and it seems the comment box is back to its original form. What happened? XD
