Rumor: Project X Zone is Westward Bound

TSSZ News is reporting that Nintendo has confirmed at a recent press event in Spain that the game no one (relatively speaking) thought had any chance of leaving Japan is doing just that.

As seen in the picture at right (click to enlarge), Project X Zone– the crossover title featuring characters from SEGA, Namco Bandai, and Capcom, including X, Zero, Iris, Vile, and Tron Bonne– is slated for a European release in 2013. While no other details were given, this seems to make it that much more likely a North American release is also in the cards. And if it isn’t, at least it will have some form of localization for those bold enough to purchase a European Nintendo 3DS to play the game as an import.

Edit: After WilyNumber13′s comment, marking this as a rumor might be the safer bet. However, it’s one we’re inclined to believe at the moment.

    Has this news been verified by any other sites? You’d think if this was a press event that there would be other Spanish sources.

    If it’s true though, THANK YOU BASED HARADA.

    @Chris

    Well good thing it’s a Bandai Namco game and not a Capcom one so I figure Capcom wouldn’t be doing the translation in the first place if it does come out lol

    Gonna just put this out here:

    The game isn’t that good.

  5. Reiko says:

    If this is indeed true then I want Dave Wittenberg as X and Roger Craig Smith to voice Vile. Anyone who can match Mark Hathaway and Roger Rhodes is fine, too.

    @HeatPhoenix

    In any case it’s better than anything Capcom has given us lately, like the travesty that was Megaman X on the iOS or that lame X-over game.

    I know Animal Crossing is arriving, but I’m honestly just hoping that EX Troopers will, too.

    I am being very skeptical, though. As someone pointed out(on GameFAQs, pbandjames I think), you can barely see the name of the TV model(Panasonic) in the photo. Usually, these things are on a projector.

    Thank you Harada. :)

    And then it gets cancelled. :P

    That picture looks so generic and fake. There’s also a topic about this on Neogaf and supposedly this just shows games that have come out and doesn’t neccessarily mean “coming to Europe”. Not that I’m going to say this is false, but it is far below “rumor” status to me from the sounds of it.

    Anyway, I love PxZ. True it isn’t going to win any awards for story telling (usually Banpresto crossovers have multiple plotlines going with different villain factions, but this one kinda has the same one and just runs with it for all the villains) but it’s a lot of fun and enjoyable to see all these characters go nuts and show off iconic moves and homages.

    It’s really just meant to be fan candy loaded with references and nudges dedicated fans will appreciate, like MM9 was. It’s was created to be a love letter to all sorts of fanbases (unlike a certain other crossover Capcom made….) and it does that VERY well.

    In a recent “PxZ Radio” (think of it like a podcast), one of the game designers said he played at least one game from each franchise represented to understand the characters and their appeal to fanbases, and it freaking shows. While I would’ve preferred Endless Frontier’s combat engine, PxZ is worlds apart from slow, boring trash like Namco x Capcom. Do two or three stages per play session and the game flows great.

    I will say I was not a fan of having to plow through to episode 20 until X and Zero joined, but you get Tron almost right when you start the game. On the bright side, X and Zero are broken as hell if you give them Imca as their Solo unit and X learns his Hidden Power skill.

    Back to the picture itself, it raises the same flags all fake leaks do.

    It is trying to look like the picture was taken discreetly with a cell phone camera or another small device. But then how did the person take the picture so close that the edges of the picture go out of frame? Why is the picture perfectly level? Why is the picture so clear when you compare it to people taking pictures of magazines or at actual press events? And the format the list is shown does not match how Nintendo has formed such lists before.

    And on top of all that, the names of the games don’t match, like “Layton X Phoenix Wright” when the actual name is “Layton Kyouji VS Gyakuten Saiban” with no confirmation of any localization, let alone name changes. There’s also the “Phoenix Wright 5″ tag when Capcom has gone out of their way to change the series title to “Ace Attorney” to accomodate the Apollo Justice and Miles Edgeworth games. If it was called “Ace Attorney 5″ that would be more believable.

    I’m calling this full-on BS. It’d be awesome if I was wrong but this just reeks of fraud.

  12. sinclair says:

    I’m looking forward to it, though I’m somewhat disappointed that Jack from MadWorld and Bayonetta are absent.

    Also looking forward to Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, as well.

  13. ManwholovesRockamusic says:

    don’t get my hopes up again people.

  14. (Un)BalNz'D says:

    @Reika

    If this is true, I wanna know who the localization team is, and if I can audition for X and Zero.

  15. STM says:

    I’d be worried with a site like TSSZ anyway. They’re not very good at reporting correct stuff often. They get duped easily.

    Optimistic, regardless, but not hopeful.

  16. Glitcher says:

    I’d be stunned if this comes to pass. Namco have a history of never bringing their RPG crossovers to the West, either because of licensing or translation difficulties. Maybe both. I’ll believe it when I see it.

  17. Okami Delta says:

    I have been looking forward to this for quite some time, and this is why I am getting 3DS XL, just hope gentlemen an it will come through.

  18. HF says:

    And the source URL comes out as a 404 error.

    What now?
