Rockman EXE Transmission OST Announced! … Wait, What?

We’re getting soundtracks galore for Mega Man‘s 25th anniversary, so why not toss another into a mix? And while we’re at it, how about make it an original soundtrack for a GameCube game released back in 2003? Yes, for whatever reason, Rockman EXE Transmission (Mega Man Network Transmission to us in the west) is getting its own soundtrack nine years after the fact.

Actually, the context might make this a little more understandable. The soundtrack (full name “Game Music Discovery Series: Rockman EXE Transmission Soundtrack”) is being released by SuperSweep’s own label. SuperSweep is the company Capcom contracted to compose the music for Transmission. The listing on SuperSweep’s shop says that the album is the result of fans requesting an official soundtrack for a number of years. And heck, I won’t lie, I really do love Transmission‘s soundtrack.

The 28 track album, containing the music by Shinji Hosoe, Ayako Saso and Kosuke Yasui, will release on November 2nd this year for ¥2,625 (roughly $33.50 US). As far as I can tell right now, SuperSweep’s online store is the ONLY way to buy this soundtrack (which is seemingly being released with no connection to Capcom), so it may turn out to be a pretty rare item before long. Good luck to you music fans!

  1. Burst says:

Finally I love these tracks so much.

  2. Sensei-Hanzo says:

Oh, nice. I may have to pick this up. Network Transmission had a pretty great soundtrack.

  3. RedrazerZero says:

I remember back then when I said the franchise was turning more musically oriented than gaming… I like these tracks (and most of the other EXE game soundtracks), and I’m happy to see an official release.

  4. Duckaiser says:

Sweet! Network Transmission actually had one of my favorite soundtrack of any Mega Man game, and that’s saying a lot!

My favorite is definitely Pharaon Man’s stage….But the main Internet, Needle Man, Star Man, and Shadow Man’s stage have excellent themes as well. The Zero Account has one of my favorite creepy/mysterious songs. Just hearing short bits of the songs makes me wanna hear all of them again, and play the game again! I didn’t beat my last replay though, hmmm…

  5. Ian Dimas says:

    Huh, that’s interesting. I love Transmission’s soundtrack, so I’m not complaining =P

  6. sonicjms says:

great how about a complete anime soundtrack

  7. STM says:

About time. Criminally underrated game and soundtrack. This game has the weirdest difficulty curve in that most people could not get passed FireMan.EXE, but those that did found that after NeedleMan.EXE and several buster upgrades later, the game became a joke.

  8. Rock-X says:

@STM: For you, the game was a joke after NeedleMan.EXE, for me it was a challenge right to the end. FireMan & GutsMan were unfairly tough, the next 6 were fights that required the right chips and good timing. The next three (SwordMan, GravityMan, & StarMan) had me at my limits in the levels alone. GravityMan’s was a nightmare to get through, especially for me since I never played Megaman 5 before (it wasn’t til the Anniversary Collection that I could).
One thing I noticed on the post: the album is going to be 28 tracks, yet the game rip here at TMMN is 30 tracks, not counting the Anime Intro or the Unknown Track.

  9. SketchMan3 says:

AH!!! This is awesome! I remember some years ago I transcribed midis of PharaohMan.exe and StarMan.exe stages. I REALLY love this OST, lol.

  10. Snake says:

I’ve beaten Network Transmission 2 months ago and it was a fantastic underrated game. The Music is sooo beautiful,The platforming is fun.And the story was a tie-in between battle network 1 & 2.The chip system was well implemented and wasn’t as bad as some people make it look like.My Favorite Soundtracks are:Fire Man EXE stage,Shadow Man EXE stage,Star Man EXE stage,The boaa battle theme and the Zero account stage.Damn those stupid reviewing sites(gamespot ,ign) who wear their Call of Duty glasses

  11. Nathan says:

I’m really not a Battle Network fan, but…

YYYYYEEEEESSSS! I LOVE this game’s soundtrack! It’s my favorite soundtrack in the series.

  12. MegaManSonicDude says:

Network Transmission is my second favorite Mega Man Soundtrack, first being X4. I love the game too, personally. Heck, I was just playing it on Sunday!! :D

  13. luigiman1928 says:

This is my 2nd favorite BN soundtrack, only rival to 1st place’s BN6. So glad they are finally releasing it!

  14. Jhooqe says:

This is indeed the best EXE soundtrack.

Now all we need is an official and mostly complete soundtrack for MHX, MMPU, Legends 2, and Tron Bonne and I’ll be happy.

  15. Something positive about Mega Man for his anniversary?

Crap, I sense a cancellation approaching.

  16. Okami Delta says:

    @ Megaman 2468101214

No stop tempting fate, that is exactly what they want you to think. I love this soundtrack, it reminds me of the anime and I hope we can download the complete soundtrack. Besides if we remain optimistic they won’t cancel this.

  17. SketchMan3 says:

@MMrandomnumbers: Oh please, can we stop with this? It’s getting old now. lol

  18. Nova says:

“Well… huh” was my exact reaction.

  19. Jhooqe says:

Oh, and the GB tunes (the original ones, at least). And RM&F. And the Wily Wars originals (couldn’t care much less for it’s 1~3 tunes, though). Then I’ll be super happy.

  20. Girla PurpleHeart says:

I wonder why it took so long to release this album when the game was released when GameCube was still around? Not much of a Battle Network fan, but I’m just curious.

  21. Bassnium says:

    @Rock-X
Tracks 4 and 10 each contain two tracks (indicated by an “~”). They are “Eyecatch” (following “Blazing Internet”) and “Clear” (following “Navi Battle”).

But yeah, the unused track, like many of its kind, will remain solely on the game itself.

Also, speaking of the anime opening (which is left off for obvious reasons), the guys at vgmdb are downright clueless when it comes to that track. Some even think it’s done by the game staff. First laugh I had in a while.

  22. Zippo says:

Sweet! Awesome OST Fire Man’s stage music is God tier.

  23. Seraph Man says:

My reaction what kinda the same as the title. This is neat though. It’s a shame they seem to only be releasing it via their online store, since it limits who can purchase, but at least it exists now.

Actually, Capcom should put this up on their store. It’d be nice if they could convince SuperSweep to let them.

  24. Omar says:

Agreed, this music is good. Real good.

Rockman’s always been about the music, first and foremost. Then the bosses and stages. But the music is hat sets it apart from anything else. I’m surprised the franchise isn’t a little more musically themed… aside from the music, that is.

  25. EngineR2 says:

Blazing Internet. That’s all that needs to be said.

  26. Munchy says:

That’s… curious. I had no idea this wasn’t out earlier.

    Cool OST.

  27. Why says:

Why are people surprized this is coming out? The original megaman tracks have been coming out and have been long gone for a while. . .

  28. Rock-X says:

@Why: I can’t speak for everyone, but I grew up in the internet age where AOL was the only way to access the net and the mindset was something like this would happen “On a Cold Day in Hell.”

  29. Swallow Feet says:

Ah such a good game. The music made the stages pop put and the remixes of Megaman bosses from the primary series had me putting my ear to my speakers listening to see if it was a remix or not. Shinji Hosoe is a musical genius.

  30. Blue Bombers Cousin says:

Yeah i had forgotten how sweet these tracks were, good to hear them again

  31. Heat Man says:

@STM: Funny you should mention. Even Ucchy from Capcom says he couldn’t beat Fireman.
