How do I show my respect for Mega Man? How do I pay tribute? Simple. I already have.

Twelve years, more stories than I care to admit, 200 years of fictional history, a million words of fanfiction, and the creation of a Fanon that has linked together the works of some of the most influential and semi-professional authors in the community later, I’m still doing what I do best with my free time.

I put pencil to paper, I let my imagination do the walking, and I envision a world where humans and robots try to co-exist. I do so in the hopes that, if we do inhabit a world where robots as science fiction depicts them are created, that my stories will have touched enough lives to ensure that we will not repeat the same mistakes humanity did time and time again in the realms of imagination.

Some play the games. Others collect action figures. Others will draw pictures.

I have painted a world where the Men in Blue stand against the fall of civilization.
I pray that it never comes to pass.

    -Erico

  2. Anti-Wave Man says:

On the exact day of the anniversary, I will climb a tree, and shout HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEGAMAN at the top of my voice.

  3. Raz says:

I would go cave diving in a blue jump suit… only to be pulled out by rescuers

  4. mitzie says:

First day i started playing his games i wrote fan storys about him kept up news about him drawn them all and even purchase as much merchandise as possible! It help me get excited about my inner imagination and bring what i wanted to life! I would show my appreciation by never forgetting him till the day im 100 years old! and id still play all his games with my old lady glasses! :)

  5. Schnoy says:

Hmm I think I’d pay him tribute by keeping him alive through playing the games, buying books like the official complete works and stuff.
I know it’s not really a TRIBUTE because I’m having fun doing those kind of things but hey, at least I paid for it.

  6. Dark-Dullahan says:

Keep playing his games, read up on all of the characters, make fan arts and fictions, and the cherry on top will be to cosplay as Mega Man or one of the Robot Masters to show that you can’t keep the Blue Bomber down.

  7. AdventZ says:

I have been paying tribute recently, by getting all the new D Arts Megaman X figures. I’ve got every single one of them. Plus, I still play Megaman games from time to time. They just don’t get old. Whether its the classic or Battle Network series, I’ll still play their games and collect any Megaman Figurines that gets produced. The next one is the upcoming D-Arts Classic Megaman.

  8. ZeroX_Syaoran says:

How do I tribute? Easy! I tribute Rock, to summon… my Mega Man! Attack 2500, Defense, 2100! Beat that Wily!

Seriously though, I’d pay tribute to Mega Man by my art. I usually doodle, and, on occasion, make some comics. Some of them include Mega Man, though I am a fan of drawing Zero.

I also pay tribute by just simply making stories, and continuing his legacy to my friends and in times when even the hand that fed him seems to be holding back now.

So that’s how I pay respects to Mega Man, a game that taught me many things growing up.

  9. me says:

i would create a race of smart robot and call them reploids and then become his leader, and name my self sigma and lead a revolt to take the human world just to allow the world to create X and zero to stop me.that´s my tribute: i would become the biggest villain in history so the world could gave birth to our blue hero.

  10. AsteroidBlues says:

I would pay tribute to megaman by making sure playing megaman becomes a tradition in my family. I intend to own all megaman games I can. I will play them with my sons, and grandsons, and teach them to play megaman with their sons and grandsons. Megaman will live in my family forever.

  11. captainrockman says:

I like to celebrate by going for a holistic approach game by game. I look at the art produced for the game, read any comics associated with it, read through any facts about the robot masters and other bosses, and then of course I play the game. The stories make it a lot of fun.

  12. Bey-Heart says:

If I were to pay tribute to Mega Man, I think I’d do by writing some new music. I usually do My Little Pony fan compositions, but I think doing some original Mega Man songs would be pretty cool. The style the games use are pretty cool. But it’s not the first time this has been done.

  13. Purple Winds says:

I would pay tribute by baking a large cake for the upcoming anniversary!

  14. Goongala says:

I would finally get around to playing the classic Mega Man and Mega Man X games that I haven’t finished!

  15. I would pay tribute in a number of ways. Mainly for my favorite Megaman series, Megaman Legends. I would create some MML3 characters in the creation suite of WWE’13 when it comes out, I would finally finish that Legends 3 revival animated project I’ve been doing since August 2011, maybe even try to finish X4 and 8 on my PS1. As you can tell I’m a fan of the PS1 era.

Megaman means so much to me because I’ve been a fan ever since I was 5. There’s hardly anything wrong about the series as a whole, and the series is just too iconic to keep under a hiatus. Without the influences of Megaman, Metroid or Contra, we may not have many of today’s top third person shooters like Mass Effect. Megaman is one of those iconic series that has become a part of our very souls as gamers. That nostalgia. That great character design. Those tight controls and steep learning curve. it has almost everything that makes a game legendary. I’ve always been a fan, and I always will be.

  16. TekkZero says:

I’d play all the MM games…

    WITHOUT USING MY HANDS C:

  17. Rock says:

Megaman is the most favorite game for me. I like the tribute too. But no book store in my country sell it , and my credit card is expired that cause I can’t buy it online too.

  18. Matthew says:

I would learn some new megaman music on my guitar, and draw a bit, then buy the techno 25th cd, and maybe try building something with the lego I have in my room, like megaman or protoman. Also, I have some perler beads, so I would probably make magnet and fireman out of those. and then upload pictures of them on December 17th to show off to the world.

  19. Marduke says:

What length would I go to pay tribute to Mega Man? About an arm’s worth.

First, I would retrieve the rustiest, bluntest knife I could find. Then, I would declare, in my dullest, most lifeless voice, “Let’s make this a fair fight.” and begin thrusting the jagged edges into the flesh of my right arm.

After slowly hacking away the flesh, piece by piece, I would grab the sinewy remnants maintaining the last, stubborn inner issue and yank the appendage loose with my sole remaining digits.

As my mind dulls and vision fades, I would observe the geyser of blood erupting from my body and mutter one in last painful, muted breath…. “pew pew”.

With my dying twitch I scrawl a bloody curse upon the executives of Capcom. I perish happily; knowing the Mega Man franchise is at last avenged.

  20. tj4real says:

i would travel all the lengths of the world to reach out and spread the name MEGAMAN! especially those who haven’t heard of the franchise or those who don’t give much importance to it.

but i’ll be practical, i’ll just continue with what i do everytime. So maybe not the world, but in my own country. Every chance i get, i talk about Megaman and tell all the great and positive traits about it. :D to everyone that i encounter when we’re talking about games/show/anime, etc… especially when i go to cosplay conventions, i tell almost everyone i meet about Megaman. So yeah, i’m like a preacher, but it’s all about Megaman! :>

and i’ll continue to draw Megaman drawings, i may not be that talented in drawing, just a little, but every little thing counts and i’m proud to be able to do these things in tribute for my childhood hero, upto this day and the day i die… MEGAMAN. (this goes for all the series ofcourse.)

  21. PlaguedOne says:

I’ll build 8 robot masters and send them out to do my bidding. It might take a while since I am neither wealthy nor experienced in any way in robotics or engineering.

  22. GadgetJax says:

How do I pay tribute to Mega Man? simple, by doing what I’ve been doing for 8 years, PLAYING HIS GAMES!!!!!!!!(I recently unlock Battle and chase on Mega Man X collection.;D)

  23. someone says:

Obviously by playing his games, and when I’m bored in class I usually draw mega man characters….I just really like their designs.

  24. Fadee says:

By playing all the Mega Man games

  25. Wesley says:

I´m just studying mechatronics just to become the Doctor Light of real life and create a real Mega Man. =)

  26. Wesley says:

I´m just studying mechatronics to become the “Doctor Light” of real life and create a real Mega Man. =)

  27. ForcedUser says:

What do I do for the Blue Bomber?

Well, I grew up with the Ruby-Spears cartoon and recently (alongside playing the series itself) I’ve begun to extensively collect merchandise specifically from the cartoon.

So, maybe it’s a bit niche, but I’d love to meet someone else who owns the Laserdisc and Video CD episodes of the Chinese dub of RS Mega Man. ;P

I’ve also been writing and drawing out a comic story to explain what exactly was going on Mega Man X’s head when Dr. Light was preparing him to awaken after his passing. It ties the Classic and X series together rather nicely, if I do say so myself and it’s been a considerable effort to do so as professionally as possible.

Beyond these two examples I’ve been collecting more and more Mega Man merchandise and playing through the games. As of now I’ve got a little shelf filled with Mega Merch and I’ve completed over, I believe, ten games including the very first played on my NES machine with an original cart copy of the game that started it all with the boxart that (sadly for some) started it all.

Between you and me, I’m a fan of Bad Boxart Mega. He’s a great piece of history that is unfortunately tied to Capcom’s historic off and on trust in the Mega Man/Rockman brand.

Fight on Mega Man for everlasting peace, you BLUE DWEEB! BLEH HA HA HA!

  28. Timothy says:

I would read this book before bedtime.

  29. maverick_attorney says:

i’ll continue to make megaman x tributes and mtv’s! :D just like i have back then, up until the present day. :)

  30. diegoarmando says:

i’ll never forget to play all the megaman games i have from time to time and let my future children, and even grandchildren if possible, play them and relive the good ol’ Megaman days!

  31. Anthony Martinez says:

My tribute to Mega Man would be to dress up in the Mega Man costume that I made for a marching band video game show and walk around town, shouting to the world the many wondrous things about Mega Man. In doing so, I would recommend people to play my favorite Mega Man games (which would be all of them). And to top it all off, I would offer people to play some of the Mega Man games and read some of the comics and mangas.

  32. Fusspot says:

I would bake him all the cakes. ALL OF THEM. If he were real, at least.

More realistically, I’d likely devote a good, solid 24 hours to playing through as much of my Megaman collection as humanly possible. Those games meant the world to me growing up – challenging my skills, my imagination, cementing my position as one of the girls who had stuff to talk about with the boys. Lots of nostalgia there, and I doubt that anything I could do to pay tribute could measure up.

  33. dingopirate3000 says:

I pay tribute to Mega Man by honoring and extending his legacy. I have introduced my (significantly) younger brother to the Mega Man universe, especially my personal favorite series, Battle Network and MM Zero, and I do the same with friends and their kids. With no new games coming out, all I can really do is pass the old games on to the next generation and hope that they enjoy it enough to bring it back.

  34. AJ says:

I always wanted to – and had some ideas for – an iris cosplay. Which is hilarious considering she’s not exactly my favorite character, but I find the design rather cute and fairly simple. In other words, I would gladly cosplay the character I like least! XD

  35. superiehan says:

my tribute to megaman… is what i’ll continue to do for the rest of my life. why ofcourse, PLAY ALL THE MEGAMAN GAMES! no matter how old the console maybe, i’ll find ways to play them in recent consoles(like playing ps1 games on the psp or emulators).
    Long Live MEGAMAN!!!!

  36. Mr. K says:

I’d learn programming and study music so I can create a PC game where every single character from the series is playable and includes a giant database and gallery for all of them, all music from the series, multiplayer and more. And players can customize characters like Mega Man Universe, making Frankensteins like someone with Zero’s head, Magna Centipede’s arms, Storm Eagle’s body and Overdrive Ostrich’s legs and equipped with Metal Blade, Hadouken, Genmu Zero and Model A! (after unlocking all of them)

  37. Playing all games including imports is quite cool but, creating a shirt with all sprites would be awesome!

  38. Djreisat says:

I pay tribute by playing the hell out of my nes mega man games, and have since I was a wee lad

  39. sonicchic2X says:

Even though it hasn’t been that long since I got into the Mega Man series, I will say that it has left a great impression on me. Mega Man, especially the classic version, to me, is a character I can look at and get inspiration from. One of the inspirations for me is to not give up on my goals and dreams. Mega Man, and all of his other incarnations, have to go through many obstacles to reach their objectives, whether it be the to stop evil such as the Robot Masters, Mavericks, Dr. Wily, or bring peace to both the human race and robot race by helping either of them or both.

I will have the same case where I will have to go through difficult hardships in order for me to reach my goals and dreams. Currently, I’m about to finish up college and receive my diploma (Already been through the graduation ceremony). It’s a pretty intimidating thought, especially when someone such as me has high-functioning autism, that after this week, my life will change from having a school-life to searching for my own life and the entire world opening up to me very widely. Right out of it, I know I won’t achieve my ideal job right away. It will take me years, many other job positions (career-related or not), and traveling to many places to build up enough experiences and techniques to where I can achieve my goals and dreams. If I ever feel like I’m going to give up, I will look at all the series I love, especially Mega Man, and find that passion again to keep going.

As far as paying tribute to the series, besides playing the games, obviously, I would promote the series anyway I can, whether it be through talking about the series with other people who either know of it or don’t know of it, drawing the characters or, in the future, pitching a new idea of a cartoon or game to companies in our country. Currently, I’m coming up with a panel for my local anime convention in honor of the series’ 25th anniversary. I’m going to try to talk to people at my convention that either know of the series or don’t know what the series is all about and what makes the series so great. Since I am going to have all this time on my hands to hone my art skills after fully graduating, I would draw the Mega Man characters to hone my skills on how to draw mechanical kind of characters. As far as pitching a new cartoon or game in our country, once I am at a company where I am doing what I love, I will try pitching a new idea of a cartoon or game to the company I’m working at. As far as how I would pitch it, I would create a bible where I would explain what the cartoon or game is, the story, the characters within them, the designs of what the characters look like, and springboards of what would be potential episodes or levels inside the concept.

  40. Skybane_Zero says:

Personally, I’ve always wanted to direct a fan-game for the Elf Wars. I see a lot of potential in the Elf Wars as a Mega Man game, and I would love to see that idea come to fruition some day in the future.

Now aside from my personal favorite MM series, I will continue to do what I’ve always done to pay tribute to the Mega Man franchise: I will wear my favorite Mega Man shirt wherever I go in public, expose new people I meet to Mega Man, host my Mega Man podcasts, and look for opportunities to promote Mega Man when I can.

Mega Man has been my hero for as long as I can remember playing games, and as a result, I will do anything within my capabilities to ensure that he stays alive; if not in official games, then at least in the hearts of the fans!

  41. Wreckage says:

I think I’ll marathon the games in a week like I always do. A month if I include the exe games.

  42. Specspectacle says:

I’d play the games some more, certainly. I’d also draw more Megaman characters. Maybe, eventually, I’ll work on a Megaman game considering what I’m studying.

  43. Cyn3x says:

I’ll pay tribute like I do every week, play some MM and MMX games !!
And drawing some new X images for myself!!

Although I’d rather pay tribute by camping out a capcoms hq and kicking them all in the nuts for canceling my last few MM games lol

  44. Mard says:

Dress as him for a whole day.

  45. JinTrigger says:

I would play his games nonstop on a live stream and invite megaman fans of all kinds for discussion and a good ol’ fun time…..Kinda like how you celebrate a birthday

  46. tykelly123 says:

I’ve already made a little tribute with an art piece I did on the Mega Man franchise as a whole. But probably the day of I’ll probably try to play all the classic games in order if I can since it’s technically the Original Mega Man turning 25.

  47. HeatPhoenix says:

    i make a game
