Mega Man: One of Smosh’s “22 Epic Video Game Movie Posters”
Posted on August 18th, 2012 by LBD "Nytetrayn"
…with 21 more where that came from on Smosh.com. And yes, we realize that’s Mega Man X as the poster boy for a Mega Man movie, but since when has Hollywood cared that much about accuracy?
(Okay, so Pixar probably would…)
Anyway, what do you think? Does that look like something you would want to see? Or would you rather they try to make a robot penguin look menacing in real life?

I want this to be a movie, though they need to add the X. I’d kinda prefer as MMX movie, but a Classic one would rock too. Hopefully Disney wouldn’t make it too corny.
I want it now. Gimme gimme.
I would go see this in a heartbeat.
No, no, no.
Well, if I find they do a good job with Wreck-it Ralph, I’d totally like to see what they could do. I’m already impressed by how they have the game characters looking very very correct in Wreck-it Ralph, but that may be due to the movie establishing them as video game characters. If they did a Mega Man movie, or a MMX movie, they’d have to effectively establish X as a non-video game character. The problem is that a series like this that deals a lot (with video game) war would be hard to appeal to the mainstream and kids, unless they well establish X’s character. I see X as potentially being a good role model to kids like he was to me if they portrayed him right. I feel there are so many good messages in the Mega Man series, and I feel like if they did something like this, and made it good, it could help change parents’ and people’s perspective on video games, at least the good ones. (I’m looking at you, popular M-rated shooting, FPS, etc. games that tend to give this bad image.)
Pixar does well with the super hero stuff (and most stuff, for that matter). “The Incredibles” is one of my faves. If Megaman were thrown into that quality of an animated gig, I might watch it like multiple times in the theater and like 50 times when I get it on DVD.

@Tayo Um…ya know that Wreck-It-Ralph is made by Walt Disney Studios. You know…Disney Animation. Not Pixar. :/
I would watch it in a heartbeat.
I always thought the most recent Astroboy movie was made very well style wise! If there was anyway I’d like a Megaman movie to be made, it would be like that! ‘ v ‘
Many people compare Mega Man to Astro Boy, and we all saw how a movie about him turned out. Is this really such a good idea?
oh… being a die hard Megaman X fan… YES PLEASE! i’ve been dying to watch a full length Megaman X movie!!! be it animated or real life i don’t care! Just make one but be sure to be accurate. :3
and i so agree with Tayo, about X being a good role model for the kids! Not only you dude, me too. X’s my hero all the way.
Not keeping my hopes up, but hey, at least the idea of having A Megaman/X movie is alive.
is Dsney-Pixar really planning on developing this movie? If so, I would watch it…
Sorry guys, it looks fake. There’s a watermark of the guy’s site in the corner, and there are some obvious pixelation errors, the background looks fake, and we certainly haven’t heard Capcom say anything about it. Sorry.
@adngo: Unfortunately no. WHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY??????!!!!!!!!!!
I’m more in favor of an animated film than a live action one… even so I have to say no if it’s a North American production, and furthermore no overall just cuz I don’t want to see Megaman’s corpse dragged through the mud any futher.
@Neowulf
…I think that it is already established in the article that this is fake -_-
In honesty, I’d love a Mega Man movie from Pixar. I mean, Pixar’s head, John Lasseter is known for making very good and faithful dubs on Miyazaki films! If he carries over that sense of faithfulness to adapting the Mega Man story for the big screen, I’m pretty sure it won’t just be a hit with Mega Man and video game fans, it’d be a hit with every one!
Though I have to admit: Pixar is known for adapting stories. Rather, they make their own stories (which I very much love; it shows that not all of Hollywood is dead and brainwashed into and remakes and sequels) than adapt stories from a source. So if anything, another studio might make a movie on Mega Man, rather than Pixar.
*Pixar is not known for adapting stories. This is what I get when I don’t check what I’ve written.
@Muchoshornos: Well, Disney and Pixar are pretty much together since Disney bought Pixar in 2006(?). I figure whether either does it, it would be pretty similar, but not entirely.
@Tayo Its an easy mistake. XD Disney pretty much owns everything nowadays. But Disney Animation and Pixar are two completely different animation companies. Pixar has more freedom and independence with their work and all Disney does is distribute their films. Disney Animation Studios is pretty much the animation studio by and for Disney.
@Neowulf
Thank you, Derp Man.
if they do make it let it be animated. we don’t need actors destroying mega man even further
It seems Megaman has more popularity than X all around so if they did do a movie I would think they’d go Megaman.
Real talk, with all of the Megaman game cancellations I seriously doubt they’d invest anything in a movie. I ‘d definetely see it if they did though. Wishful thinking…
My one pet peeve as a fan, is when Mega Man X’s design is used for Classic Mega Man.
It drives me absolutely nuts.
