Music… Makes the Mega Man Fans… Come Together…

Just a quick musical update for you. First comes a tip which we nearly lost track of from a while back, and comes our way courtesy of @BluesT_Robot on Twitter. It’s a cool 8-bit style remix of the “Flutter vs. Gesellschaft” theme from Mega Man Legends:

Here’s a thought to ponder: If, for some reason, Capcom decided to do a new Mega Man Legends game (not necessarily a 3), but chose to make it “8-bit,” would you be interested? Conversely, what if they stayed true to the spirit of Mega Man 9 and made it to resemble the original PlayStation aesthetic?

Next, we have something completely different from YouTube user MrSolidSnake745… an entire collection of Mega Man Classic and Mega Man X music played on a series of five floppy drives!

Thanks to Agelu for this one!

DanteZX sent us this one a while back, and it kind of fell through the cracks of crazy stuff like Mega Man Legends 3 being cancelled and the like, but here is a cool guitar cover of Mega Man 2‘s Dr. Wily stage theme by FamilyJules7X:

Finally, if you’re cool with profanity (this is your NSFW warning, folks), MysteryJ12 on YouTube has put together a rap video to the beat of Elec Man’s stage theme:

Have more? Did we miss one you sent us before? Then send it our way!

Oh woah, I sent the tip so long ago that I was sure it got rejected X)

Nice to see the submissions of other people, too.

  2. Tony says:

8bit Legends? Um, that sounds okay for a fangame or something, but an official game? No.

  3. SketchMan3 says:

I’d love an 8bit Legends. I actually had started working on one… lol

I would not mind at all if Capcom made an 8bit Legends game for Gameboy or something like that. Would probably feel a bit like Metroid crossed with Cave Story, I’d imagine.

Yeah… I’d be ALL for that. It’d probably be my new favorite MML game.

btw, I just sent in a tip with some MML remixy stuff that I’ve done. It’s not something you missed… but… it’s more MM music. That can’t be a bad thing, e?

A Legends game in the PS1 style..? No, I think Megaman needs to prove that it can be successful today and not as a nostalgia game.

  5. MegaSeveN says:

I’d play it but I think it would be better as a Gaiden of sorts. Not meant to be the true continuation of the story, but perhaps just a fun little side story. Like if they took elements of that cell phone game and adapted that into an 8 bit game, that wouldn’t be too bad.

But a PlayStation style game would not be good. Instead of it being cute and whimsical like NES/SNES games, it would just come off as kind of crappy looking. Early 3D just doesn’t age as well as dot-art.

The 8-bit Legends song was cool. I had the idea before, but then again I’ve had the idea for an “8-bit Mega Man” game for almost all Mega Man subseries…There’s a lot you could do with it. Personally, I went with the 8-bit idea myself because it’s more plausible for someone like me to do…(but still not very likely!)

Those floppy drive songs were weird and almost a little irritating, but quite interesting!

A Mega Man 2 Wily Stage 1 remix? No way! Still, sounds good.

The Elec Man rap was okay I guess, but the random violence was just jarring and uncalled for, oh well.

  7. ViralZero says:

I would definitely not be cool with an 8 bit Legends game. At least not before Legends 3. To go from that to an 8 bit game is such a downgrade, even if they stayed true to the spirit of the game, …Keep in mind, after Legends 3 came out I would not mind even a little bit and would love to play an 8 bit Legends game.

BTW that 8 bit remix of Flutter vs Gesellschaft was fantastic.

…what about the bourgeoisie and the rebel?

    Nice Flutter vs Gesellschalft remix.

I think I’d actually like a PsOne styled Legends 3 more than I’d like one that utilized the graphics of the 3DS (or any other current console for that matter). It just seemed to “fit”, the way it looked/played on PsOne, though, I’d take Legends 3 any way they would bring it!

    But alas, with the way Capcom’s been acting since Inafune’s departure, it doesn’t seem like we’ll be seeing anything in the way of new Megaman releases (let alone the Legends/Dash releases) besides merchandise and cameos in other games. Prior to Inafune’s departure, they had already demoted the series to basically a handheld only affair (barring 9 and 10, but those budget couldnt have been larger than that of a handheld title), and with him gone, it seems like Capcom’s ready to bury their mascot for good ;_;

Sad but this coming March will be three years since the last mainline Megaman game, and we still have no mention of future games while we used to get at least 1 a year (rarely stretching 2).

Gotta love the chiptune remix of the BGM from the Gesellschaft battle!

Too bad I’m online using 3G otherwise I’d listen to the other stuff as well :(

Especially that floppy drive video sounds interesting to me.

  11. Dr. Jerk says:

Beautiful, just absolutely beautiful. I love this.

One comment in youtube says it could make an interesting Wily stage theme, and it does sound like it would.

  12. ZeroX_Syaoran says:

8-bit Mega Man Legends? Please, right now we need to show Capcom that Mega Man isn’t all about 8-bit! There’s a whole lot more to Mega Man than a simple 8-bit game.

  13. SketchMan3 says:

I’d never ask for a PSX style MM game, though. It’s either 8-bit or full HD for me.

  14. Nexas says:

No 8-bit please. That is not at all what Legends is about.
****, no more 8-bit Mega Man games at all, that time has past, It’s time to move on past all the nostalgia **** and do something **** original for once.
The only thing keeping Mega Man alive to me right now are the comic books and replaying the old games now and then. I’m pretty sick of Capcom’s recent stuff.

  15. SketchMan3 says:

I don’t think the bit-depth has anything to do with what Legends is or isn’t about. But that’s just my opinion.
