Keiji Inafune Receives 100K for Mega Man Legends 3 Shirt at Expo
Earlier this month the annual Japan Expo was held in Paris, France. Numerous big names in Japanese culture and media were in attendance, including the “Father of Mega Man” Keiji Inafune. Ancode Udw, a huge Mega Man fan and a member of the Facebook group 100,000 Strong for Mega Man Legends 3, traveled from Spain to Paris to meet Inafune and show his appreciation for the Mega Man series to the man who made it all possible. Ancode gave Inafune a 100,000 Strong for Mega Man Legends 3 T-Shirt and a 40-page collection of fan art from the various Mega Man series.
To top it off, Inafune let Ancode take a photo to show the rest of us that while he is no longer with Capcom, he’s still in strong support of bringing back Legends 3. The Facebook group has a pretty detailed story on the whole exchange that is definitely worth reading. Inafune’s interpreter even chimed in on the comments that the Blue Bomber’s father greatly appreciated the gesture. Here’s hoping there are more good news stories as we approach the one-year anniversary of the cancellation.

When there ever will be a Legends 3, they need a whole Game to correct things, conencting strings and wipe out all logic holes left by Legends 2.
Thanks for covering this, TMMN! This is definitely quite the feat for us.
@adaaification
personally, I’d prefer if they remade legends 2 completely to wipe out all the logic holes left by legends 2…
maybe make a game that has story content between the beginning and the end? maybe have 100 questions actually about mega man? maybe not have a zelda knockoff set of temples/dungeons/ruins? maybe have mega man not act like a woman and actually have dialogue?
I love legends, but hate legends 2, it was just… just awful.
also, it really needs weapon balancing… they just killed the machine buster and overpowered everything else! I know that most people are MM2 fans, and just love overpowered weapons that kill almost everything in the game… but it really isn’t a good idea to do!
@Adda + erik
What we really need is a considerably more story heavy reboot of the entire franchise starting from Classic.
The MM series are more hole than they are plot.
I’m still waiting to play MML 1 & 2 because I missed out on playing them.
Haha, seeing that photo makes me imagine someone saying “Here, put this on… Ok smile,” then walks away.

Inafune should Buy Megaman’s rights from Capcom… or at least Work in collaboration with them.
I read that as “Keiji Inafune receives lots of money for Megaman Legends 3″
It’s hard for all of us.
Not just we’re waiting our favorite gaming series to earn some spotlight again, but it eventually dies, as the company behind it is (currently) led by a bunch of retarted moneys who have no brain of making money and a game shine at the same rate.
Funny, Nintendo and SEGA did so pretty well in the past with their mascots.
Seeing Inafking wearing the 100.000 strong shirt is a good thing.
He shows that he still supports the series although he might not have the required power nor rights to let it shine again.
Maybe one day, we see the unlucky fate of Rockman/MegaMan chaining again, similar to Sonic’s gross “puberty” that brought a ton of crappy games forth.
But until then, our blue bomber is pretty much dead, excluding Archie’s comic series
@Rayge
Oh, you definitely have to!
Try eBay, they’re selling copies of both parts from time to time.
Personally, I got a brand new looking version of Legends2 past year and it’s awesome.
Its nice to see ,but we have been quiet on our end. I mean we did our best maybe not the efforts of 500K ,but hell whats done is done and we gave so much ,but in the end we did enough. I haven’t been around much at all lately myself. Still I am happy we made 100K plus of people to support and I am still content with that.
@Jhooqe
so… you mean they need to continue with the powered up and maverick hunter X series?
That’s cool seeing Inafune with that shirt…
He is a pretty cool dude, too bad he has no real influence for Mega Man any more…
@Jhooqe
Capcom released a official timeline that covers nearly everything, released for the Zero Series Collection:
At least 200 years ago
The birth of X
When an incident occured where an unknown computer virus came from space and causes robots to become violent and riotous, Dr. Light completed the battle robot “X” worrying about the future of Earth. Hypothesizing X could battle robots infected by viruses, he gave X the perfect virus counter-measure. Meanwhile Dr. Light developed a great number of armors, but this presented the possibility of X becoming a threat to mankind. To confirm the safety of X’s cognition program, Dr. Light sealed away X in an analysis capsule.
1XX years ago
The birth of Zero
Zero was produced by Dr. Wily, who schemed at taking over the world. But he contained a flaw in his cognitive program that made him violent and unwilling to obey instructions, so Dr. Wily himself sealed Zero in a capsule.
1XX years ago
X is discovered
X is discovered by Dr. Cain, having been buried underground for 100 years.
1XX years ago
The birth of Reploids
Dr. Cain carried out his research of X, and using this created highly advanced robots called “Reploids.”
1XX years ago
The Sigma Virus outbreak
A subspecies of the terrible computer virus from long ago is generated, and begins driving robots mad locally. The human leadership acknowledges these infected robots as Mavericks, and orders them to be disposed of. The source was found to be an unknown computer virus that had prevailed over 100 years ago emerging from the capsule Zero slumbered in. Later, this virus was named the Sigma Virus, after the Reploid “Sigma” who led a revolt against the human leadership.
1XX years ago
Formation of the Maverick Hunters
Following through with the disposal of Mavericks, the human leadership decides to have Mavericks exterminated by Reploids, and forms the Maverick Hunters. Ironically, the leader of the first generation of Maverick Hunters is Sigma.
1XX years ago
Zero awakens
Receiving information of Zero awakening from his capsule and causing violence, the Maverick Hunter Sigma finds and intercepts him. during this incident, Sigma is infected by the unknown computer virus leaking out from Zero’s capsule, but at the same time Zero, having his armor damaged in the battle with Sigma, also becomes infected with the virus. Due to this, Zero’s personality completely changed, and he would turn to working as a Maverick Hunter.
1XX years ago
The Maverick Wars begin
Infected by the unknown computer virus, Sigma defects to the side of the Mavericks and leads a revolt against human leadership. The wars between the Mavericks and the Maverick Hunters for the future of humanity begins.
1XX years ago
Fall of the colony “Eurasia”
Under Sigma’s orders, the Reploid mercenary Dynamo causes an obsolete space colony “Eurasia” to crash into Earth. Along with recognizing the threat of the Mavericks anew, the human leadership professes its aim of eradicating all Mavericks. The site that became a contamination zone is dubbed Area Zero, and for the next 100 years would be barred from entry.
1XX years ago
The Nightmare Incident
“The Nightmare Incident” occurs, an event where a subspecies of the Sigma Virus that attracts attention as the Nightmare Virus spreads throughout the world. The fact was proven that Zero was it source, as he was a carrier of the Sigma Virus, and was contagious to his surroundings as he worked across the world as a Hunter. In finding this, the human leadership decides for Zero to be sealed away, but due to the influence of scientists studying the Sigma Virus, his cognitive program was removed from his body so the two could be researched separately.
1XX years ago
The birth of the Mother Elf
A Reploid researcher of this time (Dr. Ciel’s great-grandmother) studies Zero’s cognitive program and discovers an antibody to the Sigma Virus. She completes the Mother Elf, a program lifeform that can rewrite and erase the Sigma Virus. Afterwards, the scientists in the field of researching the Sigma Virus make researching Cyber Elves their focus.
1XX years ago
The Elf Wars rise from the Maverick Wars
There are many historians who define the end of the Maverick Wars as the period when the number of Mavericks dropped significantly due to X’s using the Mother Elf. In actuality there is no enduring the conflict, and afterwards the latter period of the Maverick Wars came to be known as the Elf Wars.
1XX years ago
The proposal of Project Elpizo
A member of the humans researching Cyber Elves proposes “Project Elpizo,” an operation to create a Reploid that’s a perfect ruler using the Mother Elf’s program rewriting ability. X opposed this operation, but out of fear of a long-lasting war support begins for complete control of Reploids. The confrontation of X’s “philosophy of coexistence” and the human leadership’s “philosophy of rule” begins.
X7 and X8 are a alternative timeline and so is Command Mission. The ZX Series is logical connectect to the Zero Series. The Ending of the ZX Series in Advent spoilers a little the events that leads to Legends. But there is a big hole in the story between ZX and Legends. And the Classic Series is, because of this timeline, a little connectet to the X Series. But there are room for a few more games to connect the Strings.
To echo SketchMan3, from the headline alone, my initial thought was that some insane fan gave Inafune $100,000 for some exclusive MML3 shirt that no one else in the universe possessed.
Any of you who have got the bad cell phone games or other bull **** from Capcom…. say sorry to Kenji? *cough* prides a false side
heres what should happen Nintendo buy inafune’s companies and capcom along with all of capcoms properties. then nintendo gives megaman to inafune’s companies
A Nintendo Megaman? Not so good graphics, great gameplay and a wonderfull storyline? Sounds good for me.
@Adaa
Lol, I’m aware of the half-assed, contradictory, hole-ridden, and ridiculous official timelines that hardly cover anything at all.
Even a perfect all-inclusive summary of the series as it is now would be a embarrassing mess, especially for Classic and X. And that’s because story was never an important aspect of these games.
@erik
Maybe, but probably not if they go about it like they usually do. Where all the games have hardly any crossover of story and characters. Where the events of each game are isolated and have hardly any effect on future games.
What I would rather see is a reboot, where the current story canon and gameplay of Classic is taken, rearranged, expanded and fleshed out thoroughly beforehand, from beginning to end, and right into X.
I’d rather this be in one huge game. Or rather one game with three episodes, or however many it takes, released after one another.
Obviously, this dream game would also include perfect ports of every Classic Series based game, except maybe the DOS games.
Sigh.
@Jhooqe
This Timeline i posted is from Keiji Inafune himself, under cooperation with capcom. So you can see this timeline as the OFFICIAL one. And it fits in perfect and explains nearly everything. The only thing that is negativ is, that the terrible X6 is official part of the timeline.
The problem with a reboot is, that Capcom had given up with Megaman. With no love in the reboot, the game will fail. I hope that there will be a new Megaman Game. But that will not happen soon. Capcom have more financial lucrativ franchises, so they dont need the Blue Bomber. Sad but true.
The DOS Games oO That games are so terrible, the only good thing was that the Blue Bomber can swim. But the rest sucks big time. I mean, come on. In the first one you can only walk up two or three steps before the first enemy appears and kills you when you not hit the fire button rapidly and directly.
Yes, as I said, I know about that timeline. But it doesn’t come close to explaining “nearly everything”. Are you drunk or something?
I don’t know why you posted it in the first place. I was talking about how the series as a whole (Classic>X>Zero>ZX>Legends) has a shallow and convoluted story flow, and you respond by posting the X to Zero transition timeline? *shrugs*
Also, who says X7, X8, and CM is alternate? Just because it’s not in that piddly little timeline? If that’s the case, I guess X2~X4 and the Xtreme games never happened. You know, them concluding that Zero was spreading the virus and sealing him away could have happened waaay after X6 took place.
The Timeline begins in the classic series where X is created and Zero. The Classic Series has no timeline, the games had always the same storyline. There is nothing to explain. Just stop Wily how trys to conquer the world.
The X Storyline is intressting and connects not much to the Classic Series. The only intressting things are that Wily and Light are alive in some form and Zero is the creation of Wily. The story itself is logical explained in the Timeline in form of the events that happen. Problem is that the Elf War had no games yet. But like i said, the story had evolved and makes sense until X6.
X7, X8 and CM are an alternate Timeline. 22xx is the Time where the Zero Series fits in. But in CM there are still X and all the Others. So it dosen’t fits in. X7 and X8 dosen’t fit in because of the Story. It makes no Sense when you look at the Zero, ZX and Legends Series. When you count X7 and X8 to the official Timeline, then you have a lot of Plot Holes and Logical Errors. In my eyes that makes no sense. After X6 the Elf Wars happens, when you count on the official Timeline. So X7 and X8 make no Sense at all. I think that X7 and X8 are playing in the same Timeline where CM happens. That makes a lot more Sense because of the In Game Story.
What we all know for sure is that Light created X and Wily created Zero. Light seals X, Wily seals Zero. Then 100 years later X is reactivated and fights with Zero. Wily and Light are alive in some form. With the mother elf a new wars is born. Zero becomes Omega and Zero returns in the Elf Wars as a copy. Copy Zero is 100 years later reactivated and fights Neo Arcardia and later Weil. Then the Biometal is created and humans and reploids are nearly the same. The war of the Mega Men appears 100 years after the Zero Series. The Trinity resets the world, resulting in the world we see in Legends a long time in the future.
The timeline i posted is helpfull because it connects the X with the Zero Series and goes back to the Classic Series. Yeah, there is a continuing story between all the Series. But most of it are not a Storyline in the Games. Its just in the Timeline of Capcom.
what they really need to do is make a non-numbered classic game, and make that one the definitive link to the X series, then they can make mega man 11-63 in an episodic manner!
I’m not sure what will happen if they were to reach mega man 64…. that one already exists…
Megaman 64 is Megaman Legends but for the Nintendo 64 consoloe. Thats why Capcom renamed Megaman Legends in Megaman 64.
