Get Equipped with Humor

We could all use a little more laughter in our lives, especially after looking at the upcoming releases schedule (which needs to be updated to “nothing”), and today, we’ve got something we’ve been meaning to share with you for a while now: comic strips! These are two Mega Man-themed webcomics (and not sprite comics) which we (well, I) read on a regular basis, and just wanted to share with you. And the bright side to our tardiness (read: lateness, look it up) is that this means there has been more time for archives to form.

The first one is “miniMEGA,” by Press Start and Dusty. Here’s an oldie but a goodie from their archives:

That really sums it up perfectly, does it not? Click over for more gags, such as Roll dealing with an indifferent Dr. Light while housekeeping, Blade Man’s difficulty with his job (and manners), and even a cooking show hosted by the greatest Robot Master of them all!

The other comes to us from Jesse DuRona, and is called “Despondent Mega Man.” This one sometimes carries a slightly darker, more adult tone than miniMEGA, but is still enjoyable just the same. Here’s one we picked out for your viewing pleasure:

Click over to see what happens when Mega Man takes out Galaxy Man, fights Kirby, and confronts Mario about not being invited to a certain game, not to mention how Drs. Wily and Eggman get along.

  4. Adaaification says:

There are some funny comic strips, very good. The one with Kirby is pure gold.

  5. Nobody says:

HAHAHAAHAHAHA omg thats funny. it took me a minute to see what was going on because its in Black and white but that was great

  6. undamned says:

Nice. Those are pretty great. Do people seriously not know what “tardiness” is?

  7. undamned: Not sure, but I didn’t want to risk confusing anyone who only knows the first four letters. ;P

  8. undamned says:

Just roll with it, man. Don’t disrupt the flow of your writing to cater to people who don’t understand their own language.

Thanks everyone (including TMMN!) for reading our comics! Even when they’re bad… or weird… or unreadable…

    AHEM.

Also, I wish you the best of luck on Despondent Mega Man, Jesse! I noticed your comic awhile back when Dusty and I were wondering if there were any other active, non-sprite Mega Man webcomics. Making comics is no easy task, but you’ve done an excellent job making tons of fully-colored pages all on your own. If you keep them coming, so will we!

There used to be a fantastic, 600+ page comic that was awfully story oriented at stage-select.com (STAGE SELECT: WHEN ROBOT MASTERS ATTACK), but after going on hiatus for a looong while, the author decided to replace the site with her porfolio, taking down the comic in the process.

It really was impressive though– focused on Bass and Treble, but sent ‘em to the BN universe and back, and threw in X series oneshots.

Man. The internet, impermanence, blah. Makes me wish I’d saved the full archives of it at some point.

    BUT YES ON TOPIC

miniMega’s fantastic, been following it for a little while now. Haven’t seen a bad one yet, you overly humble personage, you!

  11. DuRona says:

Thanks for the words of encouragement, Press Start! I definitely will keep the comics coming, and I’ll keep watching you and Dusty as long as you do the same!

  12. harpuiazxad says:

    Lollllllllll

  15. Dusty says:

Thanks everyone for the comments and compliments for the comic! motivates me to work on them more and do something special for the 50th!

  16. Batman1016 says:

The Despondent MegaMan “Blade Runner” comic was PRICELESS! Electric sheep indeed!

  17. Kapus says:

I haven’t heard of despondent Mega Man, but I have been reading Mini Mega since PS first started it. It’s great!

Also, the strip used in this article is my favorite Mini Mega strip.
