At Long Last: Mega Man Robot Master Field Guide Hits Stores Today! Check Out the Preview!
Just as the headline says: At long last. It feels like it’s been forever since the Mega Man Robot Master Field Guide was first announced, but the day has finally come. After debuting at PAX East, this guide to the many characters of the Classic Mega Man series is available for all to purchase.
To mark the occasion, you can find a special preview of the book’s contents, including five pages of Robot Master-related content, as well as a peek at the Blue Bomber’s own three-page entry. In addition, there are some additional comments presented there from the creatives behind the book, as well as all of the information necessary in order to secure a copy from your local bookstore (should they need to order it).
Finally, be sure to check out the end of the post, as the release of this book may not be the end of the Mega Man Field Guide story… in fact, it could potentially be just the beginning!

I got a month before I get my first paycheck from my new job. You can bet I will be buying this when i get it. It looks so awesome! I can’t wait!
Finally! Been wanting this for awhile. Even if it is a glorified MM%B Cd database, it’ll still be fun.
I got an E-Mail saying it would be early May before mine shows up. Can’t wait!
Wait, I didn’t realize you guys actually worked on it. Friggin’ sweet! Way to go MMN!
Other than this book, what’s the basis for Light being falsely arrested by a Fake Man? The game implicates the actual police has him in custody, after all.
Wow, you guys contributed on this! Congrats MMN!
On a side note: What are the chances it’ll go on retail in the Philippines?
I pre-ordered from Amazon and they’re still saying May 1st
.
Oh well, not that much longer.
So is waveman antisocial?
I wonder why people always use the term “antisocial” to refer to people with almost to none social life, the correct term is “asocial”.
In order to be asocial, you have to be antisocial. When one actively, deliberately avoids being social and habitually exhibits behavior that is unproductive to a healthy social life, that is antisocial.
Roll is showing quite a lot of skin on that cover there…
‘Bout time! Seemed like this thing would never come out…
WOOOOOHOOOOO! Im got one reserved from my local comic shop! Im keeping my Amazon orders though as those are only for $8 due to preorder pricing. So in the end ill have an extra one as the other is going to my son. WOW I can’t believe it’s finally here!
Cool. I always thought Mega Man had a Weapon Copy System, while X was armed with the Variable Weapon System. I guess the two terms are interchangeable.
About freakin’ time, so excited to get this.
Maverick Field Guide please!
I was hoping for a bit more info. This reminds me of the Database CD’s from Mega Man & Bass only in book form. Not a bad thing, but was hoping for a little more like design sketches or similar behind the scenes stuff. I know that was already in the Mega Man Complete works. It;s still a fantastic book. Ill be reading and rereading it for the next week.
Thank you Udon and Everyone else involved for this book! Thank you!
Suggestion: Robot Field Guide: Ariga Version! HIs Robot Masters are soooo incredible!
Well, it’s nice to see that they’re giving features on the human characters too.
I’m disappointed though that they’re using Light’s and Wily’s portraits for the DLN and DWN series symbols though, was kind of hoping that they would be using the actual series logos…
Overall, the book looks… okay… to me. I don’t think I’ll be getting it though, doesn’t seem worth the money to me. Sorry UDON, I know you put a lot of work into this.
@Bob Marley
I’m in full agreement on both accounts but there also needs to be one for the Netnavis from Battle Network.
I didn’t realize it was coming out already, and when I found it just sitting there at the comic book store today, I had to pick it up! It was a very pleasant surprise.
I haven’t really read any of it, but it’s exactly what you would expect. At least a page is dedicated to every freaking robot worth reading about. Lots of colorful pictures–everything you want, it’s there. I’m very pleased.
*And* it hints at a Mega Man X version!
@ Bot Marley and Air Man – good gravy, yes!! An Ariga based RM guide would be awesome. Also, how about a Hitoshi Ariga artbook?
Since it’s a field guide, it’ll list all their weaknesses, attack styles, energy levels, and other GAME RELEVANT information, right?
If not, then I am disappoint.
Huh I’m honestly a bit surprised it only lists their weakness from their first appearance. Really wouldn’t have taken more room to include things like the GB and arcade games.
@Slider
Asocial means simply not being social (it does not imply hatred or negativity, only “absence”), while antisocial insinuates an active hostility or contempt for society as a whole. One doesn’t imply the other.
@Thormeister: An Ariga art-book?! Holy heck yeah!
But… BUT….
Okay… =(
Though I still say that it’s pretty hard to be *completely* asocial without being antisocial to some extent…
^That really depends on the person. But someone can be asocial without being antisocial. You say it’s “hard” to be such a thing, but people that are asocial aren’t like that by choice… which is the whole point of the meaning. If they were trying not to be social is when they’re actually antisocial.
@Dr.Jerk: This was the original plan. We remade a new high res version of the “DR.W” logo, and a “DR.L” logo based on the the japanese “DR.R” logo. also made a few other high res or custom logos for other factions/creators. But Capcom put the kibosh on it, not allowing us to use anything but official artwork. So instead we use the headshots as a backup idea. Unfortunate but, out of our hands.
i saw this it my local comic shop. it was a bit smaller than expected its liek a handbook i mean compared to the udon books i thought it was going to be the size of a regualr artbook. i might pick it up later sicne it was what? $16? i spent just about $50 dollars worth of comics just on the new releases this week hahaha
I noticed that the Constellation Droids from Rockman Strategy and the Dimensions from Rockman & Forte: Challenger from the Future were not included. Was it because of licensing issues and stuff?
