Do You Want a Critical Look at Mega Man 2 Stages?
Yesterday saw the final installment of our “Critical Look at Mega Man Stages” series, a group of articles from Glass Knuckle we had hoped might inspire some discussion among The Mega Man Network’s readers, to say nothing of giving us a steady stream of regular weekly content for a while.
The downside, unfortunately, is that it seems few were as willing to discuss the stages as they were the articles themselves, which were deliberately kept short and simple in order to spur conversation, rather than pick at every detail or look like a “Let’s Play.”
And now, we’re at a crossroads: There is material for Mega Man 2 and on ready to go, but the question is “do you want to see it?” Let us know in the comments here, and if there is interest, we’ll move on to what is often regarded as one of the best games in the entire Mega Man franchise. And if not… well, that will be that, then.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Mega Man 2 stages. I enjoyed the articles on the first game’s stages very much.
okay then
Mega Man 2 is the best, and the first MM game I played when I was young… so from a nostalgic point it would be awesome. I also think a lot more thought was put into the level design as opposed to the first game. So as much hatred I have for Dr. Wily’s stage with the flashing turrets, it would be a good read.
yep please do it
Great job with the MM1 articles, all of them were a real treat to read through and reminisce!
I would very much like to see MM2 get the very same loving treatment! ^_^
I think it’d be a shame to stop after just the first game. Please do go on.
I DO want to see it. MM2 was my first Mega Man game.
YES!!! MM2 is a VG legend, it DESERVES this treatment
I enjoyed reading all of the entries for MM1. It made me think of design choices I never thought of before.
Sure! I love reading them.
Yes!
BRING IT ON!!!
I enjoyed it. Though I didn’t read every single article, I enjoyed the ones that I did read.
I didn’t really take certain erroneous statements to heart like others did. But a little less “FORCES you to use [x weapon] to avoid [x hazard]” and a little more “Easier to avoid [x hazard] with the [x weapon]” would increase the literary value of the articles for those who would be bothered by such things, as such statements appear to be presumptuous and ill-researched. For those who care.
It would be kind of messed up to quit before analyzing THE Megaman game. I say write! MMN. For everlasting peace.
Since you asked.
Glass Knuckle,
As someone who wastes entirely too much time writing articles for whatever reason too, don’t get sensitive because of a lack of comments. Write because you have the passion and energy, and be glad that there is an audience among the 22000 weekly visits to this site who share some of their time with you to read what you have to say.
I fell into the same trap as you back when I started my site. A friend suggested I allow comments to my articles, and I found myself obsessed with feedback and depressed when there weren’t any. But during a particularly long streak of mild depression from lack of comments, I noticed I was in fact keeping some sort of audience (via my hits counter). There were actually people that were willing to give me their time to listen to me. This epiphany gave me the heart and energy to press on, so I can in turn return the respect that was given to me for their time reading.
And you know what? I’ve since seen my hits go from about 50 a week to 1400 a week. It did take a long while though and was a very slow and gradual process. Comments are still slow as ever though~
One more thing I’ll add on to the pile: If you worry about “feedback” being the mark of success for your work, you risk ending up like Capcom and what they did with Rockman Dash 3.~
You have my yes vote. Reading the articles along with the screenshots is fun, especially when you can peal back the layers of all the reasons the Mega Man games were so fun. It’s like you read it, and then you realize, “Yeah, it’s fun, and that’s why it’s fun, but I never really could put it into words!”
Yeah, go for it!
Keep em coming bro!
Just because I didn’t comment doesn’t mean I didn’t read every single one. I loved them. I’ll make sure to leave feedback when you write MM2.
That’s a rhetorical question, isn’t it?
Nazo no Ninja Robo: Thanks for the comments, but this is all me and determining whether this is something you all wanted to continue seeing. So far, it seems the answer is a resounding “yes!”
But rest assured, I don’t think Glass Knuckle is losing any sleep over this. It’s just been a difficult read from the comments thus far as to whether we should continue running these here.
For the Capcom/DASH 3 comparison, this would be closer to if they’d made it, but weren’t sure whether to localize it or not.
I want to see an article on the disappearing blocks section of Heat Man’s stage and how it was deviously designed to DRIVE PLAYERS INSANE!!!
Ya don’t remove it.
Not if they continue to be like the previous ones. It’s pretty pointless. And it’s not like there is a whole lot of interesting discussion to be had about each individual stage anyway. But if you like playing Obvious Man and wasting your time, then go for it. I’ll be ignoring them anyway.
I was very interested in Glass Knuckle’s Megaman 1 Stages articles, but there wasn’t much for me to discuss about it. I thought all of the material was right on cue.
After the largely negative writing about the stage designs in Megaman 1, I’d love to see what Glass Knuckle thinks of the Megaman 2 stages, which I personally find much more fun and satisfying.
Not only should the author write about the stage, but how useful/useless the boss weapon is. To grade it, I suppose. I think he should also outline what weapons are best in certain scenarios.
think Omar has a good suggestion, but get too in-depth and it becomes something of a Guide.
A critical look at Mega Man II stages? Hells yeah!
A critical look at Mega Man 2 stages? Hm… not so much, but sure!
Go for it.
I stopped reading them after he said Elec Man’s stage had terrible music. No one disses Elec Man’s music. No one.
@KGN: yeah, that’s the point of a critical essay. To point out things that maybe many people know, but, as you can see by the comments, they may not know that they know.
It may be obvious, but that doesn’t mean you can’t write about it. Kind of like what you’re doing. And what I just did. It’s like a horrible cycle.
But it’s pretty fun to read.
Yeah, please do! Bonus points if you eventually do Mega Man X. ^_^
I’ll be honest, I don’t read them all the time but I’ve read some and they are interesting. If you have the time Nytetrayn it would be nice, by the way I like the articles you write up.
LBD doesn’t write these.
Wow, I guess Im the only one who says no lol. I’ll just overlook them anyways so do wachoo want
I’m one of those hits Nazo no Ninja Robo talks about xP. Always read, never comment. So I kinda must agree with what he says!
