Dr. Wily’s Revenge Slated for Europe eShop September 15th

Japan has got to enjoy Mega Man: Dr. Wily’s Revenge since the 3DS eShop launched back in June, but the rest of us have had to wait. But at least Europeans have some confirmation now. A release schedule from Nintendo of Europe pegs Dr. Wily’s Revenge as releasing on the eShop’s Virtual Console September 15th.

I’ve yet to find any correlating schedule for a North America release, and I don’t think there’s any pattern surrounding when Europe gets games compared to other regions. At the very least, though, it was trademarked, so it will be coming at some point.

Thanks for the tip, rockman!

    Meh.

    – European citizen

  2. Heat Man says:

    @HeatPhoenix: Hey you reprimanded me for mentioning Europe’s lack of interest in Mega Man. :I

  3. Phaelin says:

    It is the only MM GB game I owned. And it was pretty fun, so I’d probably pick it up. The best part of the whole thing was getting to fight Enker, honestly. One of my favorite parts was getting to see the names of the enemies in the credits. Quite a treat after a ridiculously long game. (for GB)

  4. Phaelin says:

    Ooh, looks like we’re getting a new sidebar category.

  5. rockman says:

    I wonder how much will cost, 5 euros?. At least I will use the 3DS that I bought for Legends 3.

  6. I hope that the five Game Boy games will appear on the US eShop sometime in the future. I had the first four games and never the fifth. I had lost the first two and I regret turning in the third and forth game to Gamestop a few years ago. I had turned them ’cause this was around the time Mega Man Mania was supposed to come out and I had figured I would not need the Game Boy games if I got the collection.

  7. Splashman says:

    This was my first Mega Man game ever played. Must get for me!

    It’s not as good as III-V, but still lengths better than II, and great music.

  8. HeatPhoenix says:

    @Heat Man

    Europe would like a new Mega Man game, not an overpriced game that’s been out for 20 years.

    No offense intended.

  9. Farvenughen says:

    So they can re-release an old gameboy game but they can’t release Legends 3?

    Yes, that boneheaded decision WILL haunt Capcom and they WILL be constantly reminded of it until they do eventually release Legends 3.

  10. Einherjar says:

    What about MegaMan 5 for the Wii VC ? Its still missing in Europe :/ I wanted to have all the NES games on my Wii…At least i got the anniversary collection on PS2.

  11. Shotoman says:

    This whole attitude of “It’s not new/Legends 3 so boo” attitude needs to stop. Yes, I want something new. Yes, I want Legends 3 uncancelled. I’ve been disappointed and hurt his year just as much as the rest of the MM fandom. But constantly saying thing like “they can (blank) but they can’t release Legends 3?” over every bit of news doesn’t help us get it back on track. It just makes us look petulant. (And this isn’t just aimed at you Favegnughen. It’s an attitude that a lot of the fandom has).

    The virtual console exsists to bring classics back. Wily’s Revenge is such a classic. It’s old enough and obscure enough that a lot of Mega Man fans have likely never played it (I myself have never owned my own copy of it). The release of this is a good thing. Not as good as something brand new. Certainly not. But it’s still a good thing.

  12. Tornado Man says:

    I will buy it when it comes out. I have never played it before. Couldn’t afford the OG Gameboy when I was a kid. The clam shell advance SP was my first. So, yeah, I wanna play this.

  13. ZeroX_Syaoran says:

    Why is the picture in this post different from the DWR cover art that I know? Is that the European cover?

  14. Thormeister says:

    @ Shotoman-
    Thank you. I’ve been saying the same thing. Be happy we’re still getting Mega Man games, whatever forms they take!

  15. DJ Schway says:

    Argh, why does Nintendo of America not care to tell their consumers what is coming? The Thursday things are released is usually the time I find out what I can download that week…

    /nitpick

    I’ll be picking all of these up once they inevitably hit, (Even the horrible II) but I really wish they’d hurry up.

  16. MegaManSonicDude says:

    Ohhh I remember when I first got this game… NOSTALGIA!

  17. Azdrerios says:

    Another example of how Crapcom just reuses old (Mega Man) games for maximum profit. “Mega Man is still a very important brand to us.”

  18. Trigger says:

    “Re-releasing the entire franchise piece by piece” hardly qualifies as “important brand”. I’ll be waiting to see if they actually move FORWARD rather than constantly BACKWARD.

  19. Splashman says:

    @Trigger
    “Re-releasing the entire franchise piece by piece” hardly qualifies as “important brand”.

    It’s hardly Capcom’s fault for Nintendo’s ridiculous Online submission limits.

    @Shotoman
    At least someone who gets it. You nailed the purpose of the Virtual Console.

  20. Bob says:

    I like how no one had any problems with, and in fact looked forward to virtual console releases until now.

  21. HeatPhoenix says:

    @Shotoman

    Oh! I’m sorry for having my own opinion on not wanting to pay 4 euros for something with less content that was promised to me for 2 euros!

    Excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me, princess.

  22. Shotoman says:

    ^
    Y’know, we can have differing opinions. And we can debate those opinions with each other. I’m totally cool with that. But the above is rather uncalled for…

  23. HeatPhoenix says:

    I’m just professing the difference in our opinion in a satirical manner

    No offensve intended.

  24. Nyoro-kun says:

    @ZeroX_Syaoran: Most probable; to tell you the truth, I’m more fond with this art version than the US art version!

    @HeatPhoenix: I can feel your pain; at least those who didn’t know the existence of this game can play it (or buy it off the net/marketplace, hence if they still got a device that can play the cartrige!)

    @Trigger: Is Capcom’s way of saying “we give you bread before the feast!”, while fans express ‘why are you giving us bread crumbs & leftovers!”. It’s had to satisfy isn’t it?

    @Shotoman: YES! Some of the games I’ve only heard or seen (Kirby 64, awesome!); with the array expansion of old classics, replaying them has never been so much fun! Now, when will they release ‘The Lost Vikings’ to make it awesome?

  25. Nyoro-kun says:

    Ahrg, I meant “hard to satisfy.” Sorry for typo
