First Batch of Mega Man 10 DLC Launches This Week (Updated w/videos)
Hard to believe that Mega Man 10 has been out for a month now (at least for Wii owners). I’ve greatly enjoyed the game, and keep getting the itch to go play through it again! And if you’re like me and craving more, then this is your week as the first of Mega Man 10′s downloadable contents are dropping.
This week we’ll of course be getting Bass Mode, which lets you play as Bass and use all his abilities. He even has his own specific story parts. This content will cost 200 Wii Points/160 MS Points/$1.99 on PSN.
Meanwhile, we’ll also get the first Special Stage for the Time Attack Mode, a stage based off Wily’s domain from Mega Man: Dr. Wily’s Revenge on Game Boy, and even features Enker as its boss. This will cost 100 Wii Points/80 MS Points/$0.99 on PSN.
The new content should be hitting the Wii in an hour or so, presuming it’s updated at the same time of the Wii Shop. It arrive on the Xbox 360 on the 7th, and the Playstation 3 on the 8th.

Enker has the best theme in the game, no doubt.
Same here I love his theme, even considering the hole series.
Recant, the whole series with the exception of Rockman III.

Alas, just as with the game itself, the content is released just as soon as I begin classes for the day…
@ZEROmaverick
Oh, glory… I’d break the pope’s knees for that Air Man..
I love how downloading Bass adds his head to the title screen.
Music=Awesome
Cool music remix of GB game!
Awesome throwback to Rockman World. Seeing that video brings me back to the days of Wily’s space fortress all over again. The jumping Sniper Joes are just icing
Fun special stage, but it proved how long it’s been since I fought Enker. Totally forgot how to battle him at first. WHY WON’T YOU WORK SPECIAL WEAPONS!? LOL
Bass has been enjoyable to play as, too, even though I’ve only gone through two stages so far today.
A bit strange how orange seems to be Bass’ primary color now, it used to be purple.
A bit strange how you’re not paying attention to every piece of interface that varied in color with Blues showing up as purple for Forte, seeing as how paying attention used to be a primary step in posting comments.
Oh, and man, Heat, his new battle pattern kicked your ass. The improvements to his damage output and attack speed definitely helped things. I can’t wait to see how Punk and Ballade fared (though those two will likely be immediately more difficult on the grounds that they already possessed attacks designed to be dodged primarily with the use of the Slide).
Is one cutscene seriously supposed to be considered a “unique story” for Bass?
Im yet to play, but I wonder if Bass can aim the special weapons such as solar blaze, and chill spike?
Well, if we’re being literal, he would be unique in that he only has one cutscene, yes.
@VileMKII
No, you only have multi-directional aiming for the Forte Buster and the Forte Buster only. In fact, switching to Gospel Boost removes it even before you merge.
I hate how hard Enker is now. He was so easy in Dr. Wily’s Revenge. Also, I wish the original GB themes were in there. Fun stage, though. One of the best for speed runs.
Bass mode is pretty awesome. Playing as him makes you feel really COOL. 8D
Now people are complaining that a boss is too hard? Why don’t you try easy mode, then? Oh wait. Easy Mode isn’t for sissies universally, it’s for sissies who want to be able to play the main game. Do your time trials like a man.
Haven’t downloaded either Bass Mode or Special Stage 1 yet, about to do so myself. Looking forward to it.
I still think Special Stage 3/Farewell to Ballade is the best of the Special Stage themes, though.
Also… Fishman:
WHAT is your problem? Are you just a sociopath or what? Would it kill you to be friendly? I know a lot of people don’t deserve it, but no one in here did anything undeserving. Jesus.
Ha ha. Bass looks unhappy at the title.
@MaverickHunterAsh
Disagreeing with someone =/= Behavior indicative of a Sociopath.
I just don’t hold back my criticism, so people get in a tizzy.
So they upgraded Enker, after all. He actually took me by surprise a couple times, too.
As for Bass…it would have been more enjoyable if they had included double-tapping to dash, but oh well.
Oh, and the Mirror Buster DOES automatically show up at the beginning of story mode, but only for Mega Man. No special requirements involved, aside from actually beating Enker.
@Forci
Good to know. I sort of like that. The best-case scenario would be additional stages in the top of Wily’s Space Station before the finale, but that’s good too.
The removal of Bass’s double-jump makes playing as him harder, but at least you can completely own minibosses. Also, Enker’s stage is one of the best in the game; it would be pretty cool if they attached them onto the Wily Station, and just had a complete second fortress.
Playing as Bass was easy as heck.
The experience of playing through twice and not having double damage as Protoman, plus Bass’ supercharged abilities let me totally wreck Wily’s Fortress.
The lack of any sort of good story is disappointing. Bass barely even said a thing.
I recall a teaser about how Bass’s story involves him wanting to be the strongest but having a soft spot deep down.
The fact that his “story” makes no mention of either of these has left me sourly disappointed.
That said, Bass is a nifty character, at least. For two bucks, you get what you pay for…
As for a month of anticipation, well…
Fun fact! Did you know that the Bass Buster can knock off the shields off the shield robots and the Joes?
Also:
Treble Boost
Treble Item
Treble Rescue (I hate that he’s a replacement for Beat…Even moreso that it’s just the Treble Boost with a different color)
Bass still can’t knock off the helmets off the Mets…that would’ve been awesome though.
The non-lazy way to handle Gospel Boost would be to have it function -exactly- like Rush Jet Adaptor from Rockman 6. Especially with the flight guage physics. The triple-shot would work fine with it.
@ Fishman
I bet if Mega Man beat you, your weapon would be “Total Buzzkill” because you’re a big meanie.
In other news, I totally dig Bass’s evil smirk! >:3
@Fishman
Dude, what’s your problem?
And I can’t play easy mode in time trials. And even if I could, I wouldn’t do it, cause easy mode is downright boring.
And if I have an opinion of the boss, you can deal with it. Sorry, I don’t like being harsh, but that’s the way it is.
My thoughts:
Enker’s stage isn’t hard (though it is very fun), but Enker himself definitely is. He’s been upgraded. He does a lot more damage now and he’s QUICK. Very hard to react to how he’s going to cross the screen each time. I’ve found that a pretty safe move no matter what he does, though, is to jump over him in the middle of the screen. That way he passes under you if he dashes, and you just barely clear him if he jumps across the screen. If he stays in the middle of the screen and attacks, though, well…
The Mirror Buster is just as powerful and awesome as I remember it being in Mega Man: Dr. Wily’s Revenge, and I’m very happy that only Mega Man gets it. Makes him a little more unique and powerful than the others (which, IMO, is as it should be).
I LOVE that Enker’s stage is a remake of his stage from Dr. Wily’s Revenge with some Mega Man 10 elements thrown in. Great, fun stage, and easy to run through once you’ve seen it a couple times.
I’m also very happy to see that Bass is not as overpowered as it initially appeared he would be. In fact, I think he’s harder to play as than Mega Man. His buster is weaker than you think it is, and the rapid-fire doesn’t always make up for that. Treble Boost is also really weak, surprisingly. His dash would be great, but I have to say I think Capcom really dropped the ball by not making it also activate via double-tap. Having it assigned to down+jump is just far too unwieldy to use often. I really wish they’d patch that, but they won’t. In any case, Bass’ taking half damage really helps, as you’ll be taking a lot of it since you can’t move while shooting.
That said, Bass does make some minibosses and bosses pitifully easy (while he makes others harder). The Crab Puncher and Wily Machine 10 were ridiculously easy with just the Bass Buster.
Bass’ story is, as expected, disappointing. I guess the best we fans can surmise is that he went rogue for good after Mega Man & Bass, tiring of Wily after he betrayed him with King (not to mention how he’d feel about Zero after seeing his blueprints). I guess enough was enough for Bass. Explains his absence in Mega Man 9 as well. Doesn’t really explain his not trying to fight Mega Man even once, though. Doesn’t he still want to be the strongest?
Anyone think the blademan weapon deserve to be next generation MetalBlade?
@Lumine1412
No, Triple Blade is twenty times better than Metal Blade.
Unlike Metal Blade, Triple Blade isn’t a broken piece of crap. Triple Blade has a fair ammunition bar relative to its utility. Triple Blade is what Rockman weapons should be. Not the unending spammarific borefests present in Metal Blade, Shadow Blade, and Laser Trident.
Fishman, pardon my choice of words, but are you on the rag or something? I just assumed that orange was his new main color since his powerups were colored orange, you don’t need to get so upset.
Just a note on tha second video…they call Enker a Mega Man Killer for a reason. XD He looks semi-tough I guess.
Enker is faster and deals more damage than he did in the GB games (numerically), but one could say that they kept him true to how he was in the GB games solely based on the fact that you were fighting him in far smaller rooms and had a lower max health in the first place.
I guess the biggest problem about having the Mega Man Killers exclusive to Time Attack is that you have to retry the entire stage if you fail and have no access to E-Tanks when you get to the bosses. Then again, that finally makes them worthy of their name.
@Lanceheart
Your last paragraph most definitely does not describe a problem.
@Recoil
That should be pretty obvious, Weapon Energy Powerups have -always- shared the player-character’s palette. Always. Forte’s sprite uses Grey and Orange, so… HMMM, I WONDER WHAT COLOR THEY’LL BE??
Eh, at the risk of getting bled on, I’m gonna have to agree with LanceHeart. I at least wish the ‘Killers would appear in Challenge Mode for individual battle, so you could practice against them or even just observe their splendor without pushing through a level first.
And while this horse was dead before people even starting beating it, it would’ve been cool to have these stages available in story mode, just as optional levels. Like, maybe pressing A or B or something while on the level select screen could pan you over to the “extra stages” menu, which you could just choose to visit should you want to unluck that Killer’s weapon. Personally, I think that would be preferable to having Megs start out with a small arsenal of special weapons at the start of each game.
Plus it’d give Easy Moders the chance to unlock the weapon in at least one context. I mean, it’s not a -hard- level to a seasoned player, but this game tried to reach out to newbies too.
Not that hoping does any good, but it does make sense, right? Ohwell.
@Fishman
Well, in Mega Man & Bass his powerups were purple instead of orange. It’s not a big deal, I was merely making an observation.
I’m sorta confused about these new weapons we get with each Mega Man Hunter. Say, if I wanna pull a mr.perfect run with Mega Man do I have to beat Enker Stage with no damage or would the weapon later have a status like a rush coil if I just went and get it. After that resumed or start my new game from scratch and still would get mr.perfect? I wonder..
I wouldn’t say the stage itself is a big problem, since it’s basically an enhanced version of the GB stage. It’s the lack of any way to play it in a normal Mega Man circumstance that’s the problem. Enker’s the only Time Attack boss from a game where E-Tanks didn’t exist, but his boss fight was easily reached with nine lives in tow to try beating him.
Let’s not forget that while his damage scaled, Mega Buster shots didn’t.
Bought both things last night, beat Bass mode on Normal, and beat Enker’s stage, which was awesome. It’s a remix of the first Wily stage in Game Boy Mega Man I. Enker learned to stop and attack in the middle of the room, and he is generally much faster, which threw me off at first, but after a couple of tries, I got the bastard.
I eagerly await Punk’s stage.
@Fishman You’re so badass…Not even a hint of sarcasm, you troll people damn good, and I don’t even think you tried.
On another note, Im a ps3 owner and haven’t got it yet but I’m glad to see Bass is not even remotely as strong as a character from the X series. His buster is very misleading. Also if Enker was that difficult I wonder what the other two are like. (Always had a problem with Punk >:l)
I’m disappointed as to how they implemented the MM Killer weapons in Story mode. Giving Mega Man free weapons at the start is somewhat cheap. The Special Stage was fun, though, and Enker put up a much better fight than he did in the GB games.
Bass is actually fun, though I did have to get used to no longer being able to double-jump. Getting “Mr. Perfect” may actually be a viable goal with Bass.
I got Mr perfect with protoman, I just play the game as protoman, I hate that you can’t do the challenges as protoman, nor that he hasn’t his own set of challenges…
and I’m still waiting for the dang PSN to give me bass!!!
