Everything Becomes Zero… Again
I have a confession to make.
I’ve seen people clamoring for a Mega Man Zero Collection, a compilation of the four Game Boy Advance games in the series, for some time now. But ever since Rockman.EXE: Operate Shooting Star turned out to be a port of the original Rockman.EXE title with minimal changes (similar to Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney), I’ve been something of a killjoy on the matter. If it was brought up, I would tend to respond that Capcom was more likely to release them all individually, possibly with some added content. But a collection? Highly unlikely.
And I am not afraid to tell you here today that I was more or less wrong; of course, “highly unlikely” doesn’t mean impossible, but evidently, the possibility was greater than I had imagined.
In other words: yes, there is going to be a Rockman Zero Collection on the Nintendo DS. Capcom of Japan has opened the site for it, which you can view for yourself here.
Information seems to be scarce at the moment, suffice to say that it seems to contain all four parts of the Rockman Zero saga. The release date is soon– very soon, in fact, with a date of April 22nd, 2010, and a price of 3,990 yen (roughly $43.83 USD).
One should also note that above the center “Z” logo (which moves to the left when the central image of Zero appears) when the site begins to flash scenes, there is an opening for a logo (?) that is unaccounted for. It may simply be an oversight on my part, but what could that space be for?
Naturally, it’s a touch too soon to hear about a U.S. release date just yet, though I’m sure we’ll hear something by E3 in June. Until then, stay with us as we bring you the latest regarding the Rockman Zero Collection– no doubt some of our crew will import it upon release and tell you whether it’s worth getting more hyped for than Operate Shooting Star.
Thanks to fellow MMN staff member Mainfinger for bringing this to my attention.

owning them all doesn’t stop me from wanting this
Hm, I wonder now, if this is another experiment to gauge interest, this time with Zero and possibly ZX by extension…
A chance to explore the Zero series more intimately without violating copyright laws?
I suppose I’d take it.
Interesting.
Sigh… I think I’ll bite on this one too. ^^;
Think it was just an oversight. 5 logos, 4 of which are the originals and the new collection one. Still, I really want this game. :O
If this gets the ZX3 ball rolling, I can die in peace.
But yeah, this is good news! The Zero series was great, and Zero 4 is one of my favorite Megaman games of all time. Hope there’s actually effort put into this.
Would be nice if there was some sort of enhancements/extra content.
I wonder if it’ll somehow be possible to do the Battle Network content unlocks with this collection… That’ll be a great factor in determining if I get this or pursue buying the rest of the GBA versions.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m hoping for some enhancements as well. Straight ports aren’t enough anymore, I want extras!
I totaly agree, as much as i love the MMZ series, there should be some more content like being able to experience the elf wars or something like that.
AurorX> I hope so. And the eReader stuff, too.

Holy ****, this is real? This was up there on the list of things I thought Capcom would never get around to, it’s just such an obvious fanservice type of thing.
Fantastic if you haven’t played the series, but the only one I don’t own is the first and I’ve played them all. I’m skeptical thinking they’d put any extra content in…maybe the ULTIMATE fanservice in the form of an extended ending of Z4, just a little fun easter egg that wouldn’t be so hard to fit in and quiet all the people that seem to have a problem with it.
Possible extras and new stuff…Seriously can’t wait!
YES!!!!! MOTHERF&%$ING YES!!!!!!!
OH COME ON, WHY DON’T THEY MAKE STARFORCE 4 ALREADY
I wouldn’t mind just a port of those games, all of them were fantastic. ^^

I see what you did there
MMN: “no doubt some of our crew will import it upon release and tell you whether it’s worth getting more hyped for than Operate Shooting Star.”
-Well, I’m already hyped for it. I mean, it’s already sounding better than Operate Shooting Star since it’s four games and not just one. Just saying. =P
But this certainly came out of nowhere, and I never even expected this collection. However, now I’m even more curious about the old Mega Man GB Collection, and what about a Battle Network collection? Will we get those soon? Personally, since Operate Shooting Start bombed, I feel like a Battle Network collection might gain some more money to partly make up for it.
I own them all so I don’t think I will purchase this unless there is some serious bonus content or a clearer story. Perhaps just added levels like a 5th campaign would be wishful thinking.
I anticipate your teams report MMN but my hopes aren’t high of to much extra content.
Oh dang, I seriously -just- got Zero 3 and 4. You gotta be kidding me, haha
Maybe we can get an uncut american release? =O
Great. I’m conflicted though. I recently bought a Gameboy Player specifically to play MMZ games on the tv…
……..Mmmmmmmm seems nice but no thanks…cheaper just to get the other three used ( just bought MMZ 1 like 3 weeks ago for 5 bucks…eat that ebay!)
i’m down for getting this, i cant find MMZ4 anywhere, and having to carry all 4 games could be a pain when i could just have the one DS game…
Now i would also like a battle network collection(with online net battling!!) and ZX3
Well I hope they’ll learn something from failure of OSS that such re-releases require at least a tiny bit of restoration work GBA music in DS game is seriously outdated and… just compare Zero 1 graphics to Zero 4 or ZX… Zero 1 isn’t bad, but the series developed over time, so why not upgrade the looks while giving the same gaming experience? And extras, such as 2 player in Zero 2 or e-reader… they will most likely be simply cut off, typical re-release style. Can’t fit into format? Then we don’t need those.
But I swear, should it exceed my expectations with updated music, looks or/and features – and I won’t think twice before importing this because Zero easily is my favorite series in the franchise.
**** first day purchase
HeatPhoenix> …did I do something?

I saw the space you’re refering too. It’s too small to be a symbol for another game, but I can imagine that space saying something like “Plus Bonus Content!” to help attract attention. It may be nothing, or it may be something they want to wait a bit before revealing. But it can’t be anything too major, given the size of the space.
I own all Z series games, but I love the games so much I would actually consider picking this up anyway, if only for collection purposes. But what we all need is the return of the GB Collection. BN will never have a collection, especially after OSS (sorry folks) and it doesn’t need one. The original Gameboy games, though, are hard to find items due to it’s age, are for a console that you need a GBASP or older in order to play it, and fans should get the chance to reexperience the original portable Mega Man games. Maybe even include stages with more space to move, instead of the crunched screen that it originally had. Or an option to switch between the two, kind of like Mega Man Powered Up with the old school/redesign stage choice.
Didn’t the Japanese games have some voice acting that never found its way over to other versions? I’d like to see that make its way over to the English version of the game; doesn’t have to even be in English.
Not to mention the blood effects when you cut things open; that’s gotta be in the English version. If the voice work and the “violence” isn’t going to be carried over, then it’s probably worth importing just for a more complete experience.
This has to be the greatest news I’ve read all week. (!!!!)
Yeah, something I’m gonna get eventually, Zero doesn’t “turn me on” like most fans. >.>
I never had the first Zero game; this might be my chance, after all. A better English localization would be very much appreciated, also. The original translation of those games was horrible.
Heh. This is great for people who never owned the Zero series for the GBA.

Using the remastered tracks for the soundtrack would be sweet. Although, I have no idea how good they’d sound on a DS.
Here’s hoping for some sort of Easy Mode in the first two games.
By which I mean that it will be “easier” to do the grinding for levels, Elf building, etc.
–LBD “Nytetrayn”
Yes Megaman zero is revived i’m so getting this BN and the zero series are the best!
i dont think it will be a straight port… because oss was a port with an extra scenario, playable character and mode, minimal voice acting, and DS feature. But with ZC I think there might be (based off the price) voice acting, enhanced music, concept art and maybe more.
This certainly works well for me. I never actually owned the Zero series games. (Upon announcement, I gave them the digital finger and went on my way.) I eventually played them mostly via other methods, but a keyboard just doesn’t hold up to a GBA.
Looking forward to it!
screw you Megaman 10, RMZERO collection is what I am gonna spend my zennie on
@Nytetrayn
Nothing, just some nice sarcasm which I thought was pretty funny
Hoping for WSlot bonuses using e-Reader is a little overboard, but we can hope for the next best thing of having them as unlockables in the form of a menu ‘database’, of sorts. Although, I doubt anything substantial in the way of Slot2 at all, considering the DSi’s lack of Slot2 and recent Capcom experiences (ie. no EXE mission for Shooting Star 3, no additional Slot2 in OSS).
Meh I’m not really jumping out of my seat for this. I already own all 4 games on gba. So unless they add some serious extra content there’s no way I’m getting it. I would much rather have a completion of all 5 megaman gameboy games. Even though I still own all 5 of those games too I would buy it just for the color graphics. Why did capcom have to cancel megaman mania? Also I think a DS port of megaman the wily wars would be sweet. Since that game never released in the U.S.
Wouldn’t it be AWESOME if the music of the games was the Remastered Tracks??!!??!?!?!?!?!!!
@Emuji: Is that… sarcasm? I’m… not really sure how I feel about that.
i really wish i could bring out megaman zero V project R.E.J.E.C.T.E.D I been working on it since i was back in seattle went i couldn’t get a job it was the story was going to about the story of copy X & Axl even tho the is called megaman zero & instead of 8 robot droids there would 16 the 8 droids for Axl would explain why he disappear & copy X fight off his X guarden’s general & fight rejected that were outcasted by copy X this would also have both X & Axl learn learn what happen to zero & who is responsible the world going to chao
(copy right) DHARRIS.
Wat
If this sells well, I hope they make a Battle Network collection or something. I liked the games when I had them, but trying to keep track of all of them was a pain.
Also, Gameboy Mega Man Collection on DS too, plz.
@Masterge77
Starforce ended. Geo found his dad.
Ohhh… My… GOD! I never got to play four because when I went to buy it it was sold out, and then they never got another shipment. Also, hands down this is one of the best series in the megaman bloodline.
