Mega Man: Rush Marine Now Available
The time has finally arrived… for some of us, that is.
Capcom has announced the release of the side-scrolling shooter Mega Man: Rush Marine for cell phones. It popped up a little early on AT&T’s store, but according to Capcom, it is now available on “standard cell phones throughout North America,” with releases on Windows Mobile and Blackberry coming in 2010. Unfortunately, it does not seem to be available for iPhone… or at least iPhone in Canada.
Here is further information about the game from Capcom:
When Dr. Wily and his robot minions unleash devastation on the seabed, Mega Man and his shape-shifting robot dog Rush convert into a submarine or “Rush Marine” to investigate. Control of the robo duo through expansive levels teeming with 14 enemies and numerous hazards. Battle through ten levels and defeat as many robot masters, each with a unique weapon that you can capture and use.
According to MM Community member Duckaiser, however, it has “No robot masters, just big aquatic animal robots (which still give you powers and have weaknesses) but there are still 8 boss stages to do in any order.”
The game’s press release reads as follows:
CAPCOM®’S BLUE BOMBER TAKES THE PLUNGE WITH THE LAUNCH OF MEGA MAN®: RUSH MARINE FOR MOBILE
LOS ANGELES – December 7, 2009 – Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today released Mega Man®: Rush Marine, an original Mega Man adventure designed for the mobile platform. In this side-scrolling shooter set in the deep blue sea, players take control of Mega Man and his shape-shifting robot dog, Rush, as they attempt to stop Dr. Wily and his robot minions from destroying the seabed.
Fight your way through expansive levels teeming with 14 enemies and numerous hazards. Explore three aquatic environments including Shallow Water, Volcanic Reef and Deep Water. Battle through ten levels and defeat as many robot masters, each with a unique weapon that you can capture and use for good.
Mega Man: Rush Marine is currently available for standard BREW and Java devices throughout North America and is expected to release on Windows Mobile and Blackberry in early 2010.
And finally, the game’s fact sheet:
Take the plunge with Mega Man® and his shape-shifting robot dog, Rush in this original side scrolling shooter set in the deep blue sea. In the year 20XX Dr. Wily sends his robot minions to the seabed in order to drill for oil causing earthquakes and destruction to the surrounding islands. Only Mega Man and the newly submersible Rush Marine have any hope of stopping Wily’s nefarious plan.
Key features* Exciting side-scrolling aquatic shooter.
* Explore three aquatic environments including Shallow Water, Volcanic Reef and Deep Water.
* Battle through ten levels and defeat as many robot masters, each with a unique weapon that you can capture and use for good.

Maybe with any luck, Capcom will eventually decide to release this on Nintendo DSiWare as well.

mannn I wanna play
I wish there was someway to figure out if it works on the Droid. :<
GARRR! when is is it coming too AUS?!!
Just bought it this morning upon seeing these news! It seems to work pretty much the same way as with other Megaman games. Got an intro level, then you can choose between 8 levels and the middle square is kept for Wily I guess. Never thought I’d actually be excited for a cell phone game one day lol.
So it’s not coming out for iPhone? Darn.
I want to say it should come out for iPhone. It’s just that Capcom never gave us a release date. So it’s unknmown whether we get an iphone version or not. But I really would like to know at least a release date if ever.
I saw it on my phone’s game store list. Then I saw it was worth $7.00.
Don’t know if it’s worth it.
I hadn’t realized that the game wasn’t “officially” released until recently. Interesting.
@STM: Since I’ve actually played and beaten the game, I may write a mini-review if it will help.
@Duckaiser: That’d be sweet.
Wait…they said Robot Masters, but they meant something akin to Fortress Guardians?
@ Duckaiser: I’m looking forward to it.
I heard the controls for this game were not up to par. Also heard there are apparently NO sound effects…just music.
@8BitBurts: Controls are like every other mobile games out there: It’s the best they can do with a cell phone. Eventually you end up finding a way to play it that works well enough, but yeah, the controls does make this game a lot more challenging than it would of been with, for example, a controller.
As far as sounds goes, I like it better for it to have several tunes and no sound effects. When I see big titles like God of War make their way onto mobile and the game only has ONE single song that only plays during the main menu, you know that Rush Marine is a definite win over these kind of games.
So MegaMan fights Dr. Wily and his evil oil company?
That’s very politically correct.
Okay, so I wrote up a review and posted it in the Game Review and Examination area in the Community Forums.

I didn’t give it a score, I’ve never really done that before. I put in titles for each section because it looked too cluttered and wall-of-text-y. I hope it helps.
So does anyone know if this is available on the Droid?
@ZeoVGM: Tabby knows.
