For what appears to be a mere remake, Rockman EXE Operate Shooting Star is getting a lot of special promotions. The latest reported on the OSS homepage now is a pair of special jackets you can use to place in OSS’s box. There is a “light version” that features both MegaMans as well as Lan, and a “dark version that features Bass and other Navi bosses. The special jackets will be available in limited quantities at select retailers such as Toys R Us, Bic Camera and GameTSUTAYA stores.

    Let me remember to censor my profanity this time… And let me say… Holy ****, that dark one is badass!

  2. Alilatias says:

    Each of the four pictures. Wallpapers. NOW.

  3. Alilatias says:

    …Or maybe not, because now I realize that it might be quite difficult for anyone to resize them into proper wallpapers. Unless I completely underestimate the power of photo editing programs. (Hm, that just gave me a really crazy gameplay idea.)

    Ah well.

  4. LaZodiac says:

    Why the hell is Skullman on the villian one?

  5. MegaBob says:

    Every bit of art I have seen released for this game has been badass. Cannot wait for this game.

  6. Seve says:

    My only guess for the overhyping is that either they’re very excited to go back to the Battle Network series again, or they want to give it a LOT of attention for some kind of future plan they have for the series.

    Though the latter may just be me being hopeful. Eitherway, both of those look awesome. Hope we get something like this as preorder bonuses if this comes out here.

    Does anyone have any info on the trial play on Nov. 3rd?

  9. Forci says:

    I agree with what LaZodiac said, but even further: why are Shadowman, Pharaohman, and Bass featured on the second one, when Colorman and Elecman, two Navis that actually played important roles in the plot of the original, are missing? For that matter, where has Clockman gone?

    If not a major plot change, I sense an expanded post-story coming, especially with how prominent Bass is becoming.

  10. DarkDream says:

    Minor note: Isn’t that the BN4 bass they’re showing? I hope so. I prefer the BN4-6 Bass as an enemy rather than 1-3.

  11. mega rock.exe says:

    I think they just liked the newer one better rather than the unusually gray version they used before.

  12. Chris says:

    @LaZodiac

    ….Indeed!

  13. Refa says:

    I wish this stuff came with the game…You know, like the stuuff Atlus does.

    PS Can anyone inform me of what are the differences between the remake and the original?…Because theu both look the same to me.

  14. Phantasimo says:

    @Refa

    Well for one thing, the original didn’t have Megaman Starforce in it, and for that matter Clockman

    But that is just my opinion ;]

  15. Alilatias says:

    @Refa:

    Graphical changes? There are none.

    Gameplay changes, however… There are a ton of gameplay changes, from the looks of it. For one, folder building rules appear to be exactly the same as in EXE 2, and the custom screen more closely resembles EXE 2 and 3 (although it still keeps the original ’1 additional battlechip row for 1 turn when you use the ADD button’ thing).

    There’s a rumor going around (and I say rumor now because the original source is 2chan) that the auto HP recovery after every fight no longer exists, and subchips now exist as a result of that.

    Subaru is playable, and it appears that you get to switch between playing as him or Rockman.EXE. Both are implied to have exclusive abilities. (Subaru gets Rapid Buster, Lock-On, and Shield. Nobody knows what Rockman.EXE has yet, if he even gets anything at all.)

    It also looks like the story’s going to get switched around quite a bit too, considering that Subaru/Geo’s scenario with Clockman appears to be right after the Numberman scenario. (That is ridiculously early in the game, and far earlier than most of us expected. Most of us thought the stuff with Clockman and Subaru was going to be post-game content.

  16. Jeff says:

    Cool pics. I like the one with Bass grinning evilly. And Shooting Star Megaman looks much cooler with an opaque visor. Very Protoman.

  17. Refa says:

    The remake looks interesting. I’ll have to check it out. But you know what I’d really like in the remake? A higher emphasis on the story. The original had so much potential (storywise), and while it was decent, I felt they could have done so much more with the premise.

    BTW, who here wants a Battle Network 2 remake? I’ve never played the original, and I hear it’s the best Battle Network game, and it has some of my favorite Robot Masters, so I’m hoping Capcom remakes that one too.

  18. STM says:

    I do like that dark one. Sorry, Rogue. Bass.EXE is still king.

  19. Phantasimo says:

    @STM

    Technically Rogue is a good guy, he just does not want to say anything ;]

  20. Chris says:

    Yeah me too (go Airman.exe!) :P

  21. Keso_R says:

    @Seve

    I agree with you on the first part.

    @mega rock.exe

    I just hope they don’t totally rehash anything (*coughspritescough*) that they used in the original. that would be tacky, just like the opportunities developers had to fix old glutches/bugs in ports and VC titles, but never did anything about them. (*coughcapcomcoughkonami*)
