Lightman Comes to Save the Day

We’ve been keeping tabs on Capcom’s Top 30 Mega Man Tribute countdown, but thought this one was amusing enough on its own to share separately.

Capcom*Unity member Miguel decided to see what would happen if he combined an episode of the old Ruby-Spears Mega Man animated series with the games we all know and love. And the results prove entertaining; see for yourself:

The end kind of goes off the rails slightly, though it looks as though it would be an amusing parody of the games in its own right. A pity it’s hard to see what’s going on past the wires holding up the bridge, though.

That was stupid, pointless, and not funny beyond Dr. Light kicking Megaman off the building… Waste of time…

  2. Andy says:

    One word: Roflcopter

  3. That was actually quite terrible. I didn’t even laugh a single time. Worst update ever?

  4. PStart says:

Hell yes totally awesome! I’d kill for a MegaMan game based off the cartoon.

    @Mr. H & LE: Sorry the video doesn’t have Zero O.O

  5. SeraphMan says:

I hate that line “It’s totally twitchin’.”

    Vid was okay. Nothing astronomical.

  6. Red says:

Where’s the sense of humor in previous posters? as Andy said: roflcopter.
Met turning into Dr. Light only to bow and explode: priceless.

I enjoyed it. Though I wonder why the Opening 2 MM9 theme was so awful and distorted. Also, perhaps the Beethoven part could have been half as long. Too much time was wasted on that.

  8. Windsor Genesis says:

Yes! While not all that funny, it’s the idea that I like. I’d play an episodic Megaman game based on episodes of the TV show. Even the infamous Lion men episode.

  9. Chris says:

I agree, I did like how detailed they made it like how Roll is wearing the outfit she always wore in the show and how they followed pretty much line for line what happened in the actual episode. So kudos to them for putting so much effort into this video. However I do agree that the Beethhoven part is too long and I would like to have seen more to it than just what was shown. It is a tad odd but at least interesting.

    Not bad.

Lion men, you say? Who/What are these Lion men you speak of?

  11. Chris says:

The “Lion Men” that they refer to was an episode of the old Mega Man cartoon show as were the other stages in this video (“Cold Steel” and “Bot Transfer”). For that episode, Dr. Wily and his robot minons find a race of Lion Men that are going around turning other humans (including Dr. Light of course) into Lion Men and controlling them….a very, very weird episode but then most of the episodes of that show were weird.

  12. Chris says:

I also forgot to mention that this video actually follows the episode’s events (“Cold Steel”) very closely.

Surprisingly though, “Bot Transfer” was a somewhat amusing episode though, where Mega Man’s brain gets swapped into Snake Man’s (no joke)…very hilarious.
