In news not relating to Mega Man (that we know of), but still of some potential interest to fans of the Blue Bomber is that Capcom’s Head of Research & Development and Online Business, Keiji Inafune, recently visited the studios of Bungie, developer of the massively popular Halo series for Microsoft. Bungie assures everyone that they needn’t worry, for Inafune is still with Capcom.
However, they did take the opportunity of his visit to speak with him in an interview. They discuss numerous things, from Inafune’s thoughts on the studio to the changes the game industry has experienced over the years since Mega Man and Street Fighter first hit the scene, to how those days influenced today and where we’ll be in the future.
You can find the interview in full here, down towards the bottom. Just look for the image of Inafune (seen at right) holding a rifle and getting ready to cap some Covenant tail.

Put that gun down Inafune!!!!
“Put that gun down Inafune!!!!”
And work on Legends 3
Maybe he’ll contract Bungie to make it. xp
That is 50 different kinds of awesome!
Halo killed MegaMan : (
I wouldn’t count on anything megaman related but you can always ponder from events like this if there is a new project, I wouldn’t say in the works but being discussed.
oh god, he looks so kickass holding that rifle D:
Bungie vs capcom anyone? Lol, think about!
I’m just gonna say, wouldn’t mind Bungie handling a potential Legends 3. I’d play it as long as it wasn’t ‘Halo that looks like Megaman’.
Halo is one of the most overrated, over-hyped series in history. It’s not bad, but come on. It did nothing special. But we all know this.
Bungie is a competent bunch, no doubt. I’m interested in seeing what kind of product would come out of a Bungie/Capcom collaboration.
@McCartlennstarrison: “Halo is one of the most overrated, over-hyped series in history. It’s not bad, but come on. It did nothing special. But we all know this.” Really? I didn’t know that. What I knew was that some people hate it just because it’s popular.
Back to the matter at hand: Bungie and Capcom collaborating might just be one of the greatest things ever, if it comes true.

Perhaps. . .when ya look at the gaming engine for Halo, it could possibly work for a Legends 3, but that’s a maybe. Well Keiji Inafune said he did wanted to study their style, concept, philosophy…etc. so who knows?
I think when Inafune says that, he means game design as well. As in, less MegaMan and more generic soldier games : (
Inafune seems real savvy about where the money is in games today; MegaMan titles are for a niche audience, while big shooters like Halo and Gears of War appeal to just about any modern day gamer. Lost Planet has its own original flair to it, definitely, and it has enough unique aspects such as the huge monsters and grapple hook that makes it stand out to me as a Capcom game. But the direction they’re headed with that series, working with Western companies to develop it just like they’re doing with Dead Rising 2, is pretty obvious. He wants to make the games that make the most money so that Capcom can prosper; he’s smart.
As a fan of MegaMan though, it of course makes me sad to think the man who made him does not have faith in releasing more of his games. Fortunately, Inticreates and the Starforce team have not given up on MegaMan yet. And, it could definitely be worse; I’d be pretty glum if my favorite franchise was Starfox or Kirby right now…
Inafune is holding the Sniper Rifle for a reason. He wants to no-scope all you scrubs that think that he’s going to suddenly morph into a Halo-freak. XD Nothing wrong with a little session as with good old ‘chief, and his creators.
Maybe Bungie will start making some fun games now. HUR HUR HUR HUR. I kid, I kid. Halo is alright. It’s fun to watch people play at the very least.
Err…Halo flavored MegaMan Legends O_O. NAH….
I take this to mean that Inafune is interested in more FPS games. I mostly agree with PStart. FPS’s are where the money is at, unfortunately. (resisting the urge to use bad puns here)
Bungie could make the one and only GOOD Megaman shooter. At least, I trust them in that. They know how to create a mood, and I think they could pull it off in any of the existing megaman universes.
