“Anything Else You Need to Know?”

“Energize Your Excitement.” “Mega Man 3. Anything else you need to know?” “Help Mega Man turn Proto Man into spare parts.”

These were just some of the slogans which Capcom used in the magazine ads for their games way back in the day, for title such as Mega Man, Mega Man 3, and Mega Man 5, respectively, as well as others, such as Super Street Fighter II, Final Fight, and Code Name: Viper.

JGonzo at the Capcom*Unity blog has dug up a number of these vintage, “classic” advertisements from days of yore, and posted them for all to see and enjoy. You can check them out for yourself here.

Hopefully this is only the beginning; Capcom has had many, many more ads than this, and seeing them placed in the spotlight once again would be a real treat for nostalgic old-timers and fans who didn’t get to witness them the first time alike.

Heh. Seriously, though. At the time, did we need to know anything beyond Mega Man…3!!! ?

Kinda like when Super Mario Bros. 3 came out. All we needed to know was that SMB3 was out.

Heh. I might be by myself when thinking this, but that ‘Mega Man 3, anything else you need to know’ is pretty goddamn awesome when you compare it to the the launch of the PSP.

    Ridge Racer…. RIDGE RACER!

  5. PStart says:

I miss reading through old issues of Nintendo Power… I don’t even know where they all are, now. I wonder if the new issues are much like the old ones?

  7. Shotoman says:

No, they aren’t. Nintendo Power is much like any other game magazine nowadays. Lotsa reveiws, previews, ‘news’, etc. but little to no game map and stratagies anymore…

Nintendo Power and I are the same age. I feel so happy and accomplished!
