Zero a new character in Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom?

x4_zerodefendWith the announcement that new characters are slated to be added to the US release of Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom, fans have been hopeful to find out who those characters are. Now we may know, but unfortunately I must file this one under speculation.

According to COCOROG, a page on Capcom of Japan’s new website for Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom: Ultimate All Stars had unused source code which named the new hidden characters to appear: Zero (albeit which series is unknown), Frank (Dead Rising), Yatterman #2 (Yatterman) and Joe the Condor (Gatchaman). Additionally there is Tekkaman Blade, who is actually on the site.

Looking into the site myself, however, I was unable to find this code spoken of. Nevertheless, COCOROG is a long time trusted source of mine. So either COCOROG is simply wrong, or Capcom got wise to their mistake and removed the code. If anyone is up to some investigating though, we’ll be happy to hear what you find. Nevertheless, if this information is true it should be confirmed by the time TGS rolls around.

Update: A post on GoNintendo appears to indicate that the source code did in fact used to be on the website. So Zero appearing in TvC seems that much more likely.

DAMN!!! SO GETTING A WII FOR THIS!!!

  2. RegalX7 says:

I wonder which Zero they’ll use? X series? That one’s the most popular, so I guess it’d make the most sense. Also, it would make it where both versions of Zero have appeared in a fighting game!

  3. Wave says:

… Allllright! XD XD Zero and Tekkaman Blade! I hope they’re true :)

  4. BlueBomber94 says:

Yes! This game just got even more awesome.

  5. Sniper Joe says:

For some reason Zero without his hair would still be Zero in my opinion because I never really noticed his hair in the SNES games…only whenever I saw official artwork did I notice.

  6. Zach/G-Beast says:

    YES!! ZERO!!!

now i am definitly getting this!!!!

  7. Harpu says:

If they use a zero model I think it will be of the zero series… his sleeker look would work better with the rest of the games combatnants. Think about roll and megaman volnutt, they aren’t that mechanical looking in the game. (Roll doesn’t ever look like a robot anyway…)

Besides, Zero’s, zero series form has been used in onimusha blade warriors and cvs chaos already, so if this happens to be a reality, my bet is that his zero form will be used. My second reason for this is because Zero’s x series version doesn’t do anything with variety in attacks. So when it comes to visual flair, Zero series zero makes more sense, he has more moves up his sleeve.

  8. Furysetzer says:

I would rather they use the X series Zero instead of the Zero series one, as he was already in one of their fighters.

    BATSUUUUUUUUUU! hehe

  9. PStart says:

Oh damnnnn I hope this is true…and yet not true. No Phoenix Wright and no Speed Racer : (

BUT ON THE OTHER HAND, Zero would mean 3 MegaMan characters and would truly make this game a SCRAMBLE BATTLE. Frank’s also cool with me, and as for the Tatsunoko side…wouldn’t know any of em still.

  10. Heat Man says:

I don’t know why everyone is so gung-ho about Phoenix Wright being in it. If they used anyone from that series, it should be the Steel Samurai!

  11. Quezacoatl says:

If this is true, please let is be the Zero from the Zero-series, just looks so much cooler.

  13. Harpu says:

I forgot to mention this in my last comment, but just imagine his super… OBJECTION! He better say it. :-)

  14. mainfinger says:

i’m down for either version of Zero, I like em both. And as far as liklihood of which version they’ll use, i think the fact that Volunutt is in it rather than Classic means anything can happen. Really do wish Speed Racer had been chosen for Tatsunoko side, though. Instead we’ll now have 3 different Gathcaman people =P

  15. ZeroTheLegend says:

    I wasn’t supposed to get a WII,
but if this is true then i really have no choice.

  16. Xero says:

If it’s X’s series Zero. OH YES! YOU ARE THE BEST EXTRA CHARACTER EVER!

If it’s Zero series Zero. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  17. shadow2bolt says:

I wonder whether they are playable or not in the London games Expo…

  18. Harpu says:

Actually, I have a question for everyone, because I do not know. Is Japan going to get some kind of update that will add the characters to their games? or are Americans like me going to luck out with extra’s that japan doesn’t have. (usually its the other way around!)

  19. Heat Man says:

@ Harpu: I think they’re doing a re-release of TvC in Japan using the updated US version, although I’m not 100% sure on this.

  20. Cress says:

Still no Speed Racer and a Mach 5 to run everyone over with…

  21. Harpu says:

@ Heat Man: If that happens to be true, then I would have to guess that their version would still include the genie guy because there are no rights issues…and if thats the case, well I guess they have one up on us once again. Haha, oh well. Nothing to do about that.

  23. Heat> Now you’re just being silly. The Steel Samurai is just a character on TV, portrayed by an actor. :P

  24. NovaMan XP says:

Phoenix Wright couldn’t be in the game because his attack (“Objection!”/”Igiari!”) would be far too broken in the US version… :(

  25. mainfinger says:

    @Heat and Harpu

it has been confirmed that they will release the new version in japan and it has also been confirmed that it will still be missing the genie

  26. Nova> Or so they say; I’ve seen people come up with workable solutions based on the info given.

  27. fullmetalbelmont says:

I’ve been contemplating getting a Wii, but this seals it for me.

  28. juanduran1 says:

oh please let it be the the megaman zero version :D he already showed up in two fighting games it wont be that hard to come up with his moves.

  29. Heat Man says:

@ LBD: Steel Samurai would be so awesome though. Can’t you just see him landing into the spotlight with his trademark theme playing? Besides, more than half those characters are TV stars already.

  30. Harpu says:

Okay, One more question. Was online play confirmed? because I see a MMN tournament or youtube channel in the future. :-)

  31. juanduran1 says:

yeah harpu there is going to be online play but i hope there wpould be a smoooth connection. awwww now i really want this game!

  32. Glitcher says:

If this was just a rumour from some random fan site, I probably would have dismissed it as wishful thinking. But since this was leaked on Capcom’s own website, I’d say the odds of it being true are pretty high. :) It would be great to see MMX Zero in the game, but I think it’s much more likely we’ll see MMZ Zero because of his weapons. I’m also really pumped that Teknoman is in the game. He’s one of the few Tatsunoko characters I watched as a kid and I was crazy about his design. Sure beats all thos ‘bows on Tekkaman. :p

  33. Zach/G-Beast says:

is this going to be a wii shop download or a store release?(like smash bros and metroid prime n such)

  34. Harpu says:

@Zach/G-Beast: This will most definetely be a store release…I don’t think you could cram so much awesome into a WII download… hahaha.

  35. Zach/G-Beast says:

    cool thanks Harpu
