Maverick Hunter X & Powered Up on their way to PSN
Posted on July 1st, 2009 by Heat Man
According to PlayStation.com, a number of PS1 and PSP Capcom titles will be headed to the PlayStation Network, starting tomorrow with Capcom Classics Collection Remixed. While we don’t know when the specific release dates are, Mega Man: Powered Up and Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X are definitely in the queue, and will hopefully come around later this summer. Even more hopefully is other Mega Man games making their appearance sooner or later, especially the Legends games. What better a way to get new gamers into the series?

Let’s hope this can revive the MHX series. Cross your fingers.
I’m hoping for some Legends in the US. I’d definitely get those, hopefully if that does happen they won’t just be direct ports, maybe some graphical updates and things like that.
Release Irregular Hunter X on the PSN running at 720p and with ZERO as playable character and I’m completely sold!!!!
i was just about to submit this but you guys are too on top of things already =P This is cool, I hope it promotes more to be made, but honestly i’m not getting my hopes up.
Come onnnnnnn Powered Up! A really great potential series, surely people will notice it a second time around!!
^^^Sorry PStart but I’m gunna have to go with Maverick X Hunter instead of Powered Up if I had to choose a remake.
Wow this is awesome, too bad I already have the UMD versions of all 4 PSP mega man games, though I would be thrilled if they put they added the english version of legends. even though I already have the japanese versions.
well that and the PS1 mega man X games, I never got a chance to play them.
I bet if they made Powered Up sequel, it would really take off. MegaMan 2 is definitely the most popular title of the classic series!
@Tas_man001
Tell me about it ^^
Lucky for us it isn’t, and we can enjoy Dash and Dash 2 on the go. But I cracked my PSP so I can play them in English too
I own all four as well. I actually picked up both Dash games on a trip to Japan. I scared myself to death after this purchase after I realized I had no idea whether or not the PSP was region locked
Yeah I just imported the value pack (which is really a boxed set, don’t let it fool you) And yeah I can’t do that for moral reasons, and I have a 3000, well after that I also would rather have them in japanese for studying purposes.
Yeah I knew it wasn’t region locked for a while, (my copy of powered up is the import version too)
but movies ARE region locked due to some copyright law stuff.
now its about damn time! ive been waiting for them to say that since they released! now i hav absolutely NO REASON to buy a psp! Thank You God……and Capcom!
@kkxprs: I think they are PSP only releases, not to be played in PS3. Remember that PSPGo is coming and Sony needs the back-catalog of UMD releases available for download.
Haha. Just so you guys know, I used a program to take the files directly of of my own copies of the original PS1 disc.
A little more on topic, does any one else think that Maverick Hunter and Powered Up would have done better on DS? Sales wise I mean. I think it’s a shame that a series of remakes with such potential had to go down the drain because it on PSP.
hopefully thanks to this MMHX and MPU will become more popular and get sequels for the megaman’s 25th anniversary
Capcom took its risks when developed and released MHX y MMPU in PSP. The user base of the Portable wasn’t the expected at the time of release.
Maybe now with a very strong user base, thanks to Capcom’s Monster Hunter, a re-release or sequels might sell better.
When I was deciding beetwen PSP or DS, the MM games were a big plus for the PSP, finally those games along MGSPO made me choose PSP.

I definitely still think this. Like Rafael said, I’m hoping that thanks to the increased fanbase from Monster Hunter, maybe MegaMan can do better this time around.
Powered Up has a great look that the DS couldn’t handle if directly ported, but I’d almost rather it have started on DS if it meant more sales and sequels : (
Interestingly enough, Monster Hunter’s influence is only in Japan. This is an announcement for the games coming to PSN in North America.
Then again, Japan is probably where both games need the most extra sales to rekindle interest in the two remake series. With PSN finally moving toward digital downloads for smaller games, perhaps Capcom will feel compelled enough to start up Powered Up again (at the very least, since the game mechanics from MM1 through MM5 have pretty much already been created in MMPU).
If only Capcom would just release those two handheld games for all consoles to download. Nothing about the PSP ever interested me at all except those two games. I have always asked why two great games were released on such a doomed system. I think, instead of helping the system, it hurt the games. That’s why there’s no sequels.
Here are the reasons I even have a PSP:
Metal Gear
Castlevania
Mega Man
and just recently Guilty Gear, which bored me already, so basically just:
Metal Gear 5 out of 6 games here
Castlevania 1 here
Mega Man 2 out of 4 here (wish legends was given better treatment than just a port and actually translated to english)
Wait, wait im confused… sorry. Okay looking at the replies on the capcom blog itself. the umd legacy games listed… are… psp only downloads…?
Well, Capcom is giving Powered Up and MHX another chance by making it available for download. If this prompts the sequel, I’ll be one of the FIRST to buy it!! Go, Mega Man, you’re ever so awesome!!
