During this weekend at the World Hobby Fair in Japan, Capcom announced the Battle Network/Star Force crossover “Rockman EXE: Operate Shooting Star” for the Nintendo DS. Scarce details are known at this point, but it’s expected to be a data action RPG that will probably be released this year in Japan. Details will be formally announced in the September issue of CoroCoro. It is likely the title that will include this year’s boss character contest winner Clock Genius. At the event, series producer Takeshi Horinouchi stated he has a variety of ideas for projects in mind leading up to Rockman’s 25th anniversary.

I was a big fan of the battle network series and now I can’t wait for this to come out! I wonder what the battle system is like…
I suppose a time travel theme should have been more evident with a character like Clock Genius selected as the winner.
Sorry, but I can’t help but feel skeptical about this. Battle Network is done. Why are they bringing it back? Not to say I mind, Battle Network grew on me. But still…
I think it comes as no surprise that I am STOKED. EXE was and is my favorite series.
I personally hope Duo plays a role in closing the 200 year gap.
Dear God no. Capcom; please. The Battle Network horse is quite dead; stop beating it. Granted, if it’s like Scramble Battle, great. If it’s some stupid plot that’s going to completely screw up the Ryuusei and .EXE storylines; drop the frigging project now.
Ugh…
I’m hoping this turns out decent, but I can’t help but anticipate disaster..
huh gah buh duh
I mean, I didn’t think they’d actually DO it.
This has potential, though.
If you’re an EXE fan AND a Shooting Star fan BOTH like I am, then you automatically look forward to this like I do, or I kidnap your firstborn daughter……just kidding!
Although I am looking forward to this one, seriously.
XD
Seriously? I all the comments with “The EXE series is .” What is with that?? It’s not until Capcom says so. They EXE series was awesome and this is a fantastic idea.
I hope this game falls flat on its face so they can stop making these crappy games and focus more on Classic, X, ZX, and Legends. This is purely a way to boost sales of the Starforce series because clearly, it wasn’t brining in the numbers the BN series was.
They bringing a series back?
Hell, if they could do that with Classic and EXE, what’s stopping us from seeing a new X or Legends game for Rockman’s 25th anniversary?
Why couldn’t this game happen after the events of EXE6 and prior to the ending of EXE6?
Maybe they’ll finally make the game in full 3D like they wanted BN5DS.
I was thinking Patch would be the main character. That, and his Navi-ish pal would be a cross between TornadoMan and Harpuia, rendered EXE style of course.
WOW. Didn’t see this coming, but it makes me happy; I loved the EXE series.
I think this will be sweet, i have liked all the megaman games they have released.
I really like BN and Starforce so this should be just as good if not better. Hopefully its more like starforce style though, ive grown to it
*explodes*
I never, ever expected this. AT ALL. I was hoping that EXE would come back one day, but I thought the chances of that ever happening were like 0%.
Hell, I wanted a new Legends or X game more because even though I’ve never played a Legends or X game, their fanbases have been waiting for a new entry for years.
Woot! hopefully this will turn out well
Personally I see this either being a decent Idea, or something that will kill both series. It’s a big risk on Capcom’s part. Seeing that it will be RPG styled like Starforce and Battle network were, I’m guessing it will be heavily story driven, so it could either tie in the connections between the two series better, or completely ruin them both. Either way I’m Anticipating this title.
“Blah blah blah Where’s my three and nine blah blah blah.”
That’s all you ZX and X series lovers do.
Looks something I can look foward to, hopefully this won’t trigger Murphy’s Law and screw up the game like it did with another series from another company did.
o…k
I really didn’t saw that coming
oh well, Im not gonna complain, Im gonna actually look for it…even if Im not a closer fan of both series
This is the stuff of nightmares. They defile MM enough separately, but together…
Shoot me now, please.
(Not trying to start drama. Just my opinion. I hate these so-called MM series. And now this happens… it’s… it’s just… *crys*.)
i guess its going to be starforce, but in battle network style?
I think it sounds pretty good. I know that I’m gonna buy it when it comes out, whether or not I continue to like the idea after I start playing the game remains to be seen, but here’s hopin’.
And to all you Star Force and Battle Network haters out there, get over it. I don’t criticize people for buying (and/or making) games that I don’t like, why should you?
I’m guessing some sort of dual battle system. Could make perfect use of the touchscreen.
If anything, I think it would be the opposite. Battle Network style battles with Starforce’s graphics (kinda like how the camera can go to the side in Starforce 3)
One word. WOW. I have some high hopes for this game, and I realllllly hope that they switch back to BN battle style. The new battle style hasn’t grown on me. I just had an idea. What if they are going to have it take place in the BN world, with the Crossfusion (anyone seen the BN anime?) ability just coming out! It might turn out to be pretty epic! Or at least I hope….
Sweet i’m so gonna get this game battle network was the first megaman series ive played and it got me into megaman
this could be a great game, but, I’d like they create a crossover about megaman and megaman X
>Dear God no. Capcom; please. The Battle Network horse is quite dead; stop beating it. Granted, if it’s like Scramble Battle, great. If it’s some stupid plot that’s going to completely screw up the Ryuusei and .EXE storylines; drop the frigging project now.
Come on, given the trends of how ZX and Ryuusei both did, this probably won’t do to hot either. You might as well enjoy the ride, it’s probably gonna be a great game regardless.
Maybe an X/Classic crossover will happen soon…
Well, I’lm lookin forward to it. My fav series is the BN series, soo I’m stoked. I just hope Capcom does’nt screw it up…
… EXCITEMENT! Celebration is necessary!
Please, Capcom, don’t mess this one up!
@Gaia: WHERE’S MY NINE? YOU! HOP TO IT.
Psh, a crossover with EXE will probably be the best thing to happen to the Starforce series, sales-wise, as much as it hurts for me to concede that.
Eh, you guys are all so frickin’ negative. It might not be great, but it sounds like good fun.
HELL YES
‘this could be a great game, but, I’d like they create a crossover about megaman and megaman X’
That’s probably the most thought provoking thing mentioned here thus far. Depending on how well this does, they may very well consider crossovers of other Megaman series.
I hate to say it, but I almost choked on vomit reading this. The Star Force series was my least favorite, EXE has already had what seems to me to be the most attention, and ZX3 hasn’t even been hinted at. This is near the bottom of my wishlist, along with Legends 3.
No offense meant to anyone; I can respect that you like either or both series.
Sample dialogue from the upcoming title:
Bass: I shun companionship from anyone and believe in gathering strength on my own.
Solo: I also shun companionship from anyone and believe in gathering strength on my own.
Bass: …… We should work together.

This is actually very possible. Remember that picture of EXE, Ryuusei, Classic, and X together that was shown as part of the Create-A-Character contest?
EXE and Ryuusei already… Chances are Classic and X might be already coming up next.
“Bass: …… We should work together.”
Brilliant, Heat Man. Brilliant.
“Bass: I shun companionship from anyone and believe in gathering strength on my own.
Solo: I also shun companionship from anyone and believe in gathering strength on my own.

for some reason, that dialoge made me laugh badly
I know this is off-topic, but…
Those of you running the MMN Wiki, there appears to be someone creating sockpuppet accounts and advertising some stuff. Thing is, they’re advertising it on their user pages only, and not really doing anything to the actual articles.
Should I go around and delete their stuff anyways?
(I know I haven’t really contributed anything to the Wiki yet even though I joined months ago. I will try soon, specifically for the EXE section.)
All you EXE/Ryuusei haters make me laugh. You look like fools.
All i can say is, this is going to be one heck of a game.
Don’t really like the idea… but I really can’t say anything until we see some type of gameplay in progress.
And another thing, I think they are planning crossovers and sequels for all of their series, well at least that’s what I’m hoping for(except for SF because they pretty much ended it with… well I won’t give the ending away for those who haven’t played and/or enjoyed it yet.
I guess this time they made clock genius is made the boss
Try think of it
Megaman Battle Network 20XX
Megaman Starforce 22XX
how did this two join?
Must be through time travel lar
And maybe Clock genius has unlocked time travel
so both megamans have to fight Clock for thier time back
…How in the world did it take this many posts for someone to finally realize that and point that out? Holy damn, I absolutely suck at speculation if I didn’t see the connection.
*gives Megaman98th a hi-five*
MMBN lives once again!!! *angel choir vocalizing in the background*
Seriously, the BN and SF haters are more annoying than pretty much any other ’sect’ of the Megaman fanbase. Always whining about every game being made that’s not Classic, X, or ZX (And in some cases, Legends).
Check out some of the user comments on Protodude’s site, saying things like BN and SF aren’t Megaman games because they aren’t side-scrolling platformers, or that they’re trash. In terms of being Megaman games, well, Keiji Inafune says BN and SF are bonafide Megaman games, so… They are. It’s not like Miyamoto, who denies the existence of the CD-i games.
If you want there to be another ‘robot-timeline’ game, then a new Classic game is the most likely out of it, X, ZX, and Legends, as it’s the only one whose newest iteration didn’t bomb – you know how you heard SF3 got mediocre sales? It got just under the same amount of sales in Japan alone than both Legends games combined. This game only exists to boost SF’s sales, so I wouldn’t be expecting a new X, ZX, or Legends game any time… Soon, I guess. So don’t point to this specifically and say ‘anything is possible.’
With that said, I’d love Megaman 10 and ZX3, my two favorite series OF Megaman, to go along with this.
So… I’m seriously alone here? I’m the only one who thinks this is awesome?
As a person who only liked Battle Network 1 on GBA, that statement hurts. My dislike of the series comes from the entire relocalization the game got as soon as BN2.
But that’s a matter of preference.
Thanks Alilatias
but hope if my
