Check out Mega Man orchestral style – Video Games Live
Posted on June 5th, 2009 by Heat Man
As we reported, a Mega Man segment was featured for the first time in Video Games Live when it performed yesterday in Los Angela’s Greek Theater. Featuring the opening theme to Mega Man 2, the title theme from Mega Man 3 and of course the trademark Wily’s stage from Mega Man 2, it’s a pretty rockin’ show. Pretty envious of all you who got to attend!

That was awesome. Although I think the guitar cut off some of the instruments at beginning of Wily Stage 1, because it sounded a little weird, but if you listen closely then you can hear it right.
this was a lot different than I was expecting. I was expecting more orchestra less guitar, but it was cool none the less.
I saw that in person last night, it was AWESOME (and totally worth the money for pit area seats!). It’s nice to see them playing Mega Man tunes, while I hope they expand on it a bit down the road, this is a good start.
Hmm, i dunno, it’s cool i guess.
Is there a live cd for the show available?
This sounds wicked.
Sounds awesome. Considering that this is orchestra, I think they could have done a lot better with some Legends songs… Flutter vs Gesselschaft and Geetz Battle Theme in VGL, anyone?
Not gonna listen now, because I’m hoping to be surprised at the Wolf Trap performance a month from now. Still exciting to hear that MM music made its debut:)
… Simply AWESOME!
Pretty dang rockin’!! @Hiroki, not as many people will recognize those songs as they will recognize the ones they played, so that’s why they didn’t play different MM songs. Not hat hose wouldn’t be cool, but I’ve never played MML, so I wouldn’t know.
I thought from what their site said they played video of the games on the screen to go along with the music. Seeing Mr. Conductor and Guitarist on 3 big screens behind themselves for THE ENTIRE PERFORMANCE was pretty pointless. I hope there was at least something before the medley was played.
It was cool. Not spectacular by any means. Transition between the two intro songs was poor. And a few other arrangement issues, like points where the orchestra truly didn’t mesh well with the guitarist, or they sounded off, but it was still good. It’s just a shame that this concert smashes so many game tracks into so little time, if this example is any indication.
I gotta say, they did a very cool job with it, and the dude on the guitar is AWESOME!
pretty cool.
gotta say though, the best megaman music i’ve ever heard is one of the user-submitted cd’s, “U-Gen’s.” Almost all of U-Gen’s songs are fantastic, with amazing guitar remixes and everything. It sounds like a real band, and I hope it is, never listened to a CD so many times in a month.
Cool!
As somebody who’s seen the show live before, I can tell you that the experience is racheted up to the 100th degree compared to a youtube vid, so this would’ve been awesome!
Ridiculous, in a good way.
