Yepper, it’s that time randomly selected again! Time for another Mega Man Network contest! Because why work for your love when we can simply buy it, like some kind of simple commodity. And you can WIN BIG!
This time around, Tabby has insisted we do an artwork contest again, and none of us likes to see Tabby upset (she’s scary). And with both Mega Man Star Force 3 around the corner, as well as summer, what better festivity than whittling potatoes to look like Zero’s head! I’m kidding, it’s a summer themed Mega Man Star Force artwork contest.
You have big chances of winning, because in this contest there will be a total of THREE winners, with the first place grand prize being a copy of Mega Man Star Force 3, the Ryuusei no Rockman Official Complete Works art book, and a Star Force 3 mini poster! That is just cool beans!

I wish I could join but I suck at art as well. I’m having my completed works shipped now but where could I find that poster if you don’t mind telling Heat Man?
You’re all so down on yourselves! Work on developing your piece and put some time into it, and it’ll turn out great. And don’t worry if you don’t have anything besides Paint either; some of the sharpest and best quality images are made with JUST paint.

Personally, I think another art contest is a little unfair. From my experience, the judges usually say that they’re not just judging based on sheer skill or talent, but in the end that’s what it comes down to. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing – to reward people who’ve put a lot of effort into honing their artistic abilities – but maybe it’s too soon for another one.
I know what Tabby says goes, lol, so this will remain an art contest regardless of what anyone says, but for future contests, the MM9 contest you guys held a while ago was based on a pretty neat idea. How about something writing or music-related?

The last time we had an art contest it was October 2007, so it really hasn’t been too soon IMO. Be that as it may, I do agree that art contests do set a bar that some people think they can’t rise to, and of course the results are fairly subjective. Still I do think it’s good to encourage the artistic community in Mega Man, and this is what Tabby is good at.
I am positive our next contest will not be talent related (though a music contest would be a good idea, I’ve considered it). I really wish we could do contests more often, but it’s a tad pricey. Everything is out of pocket.

Oh yeah, timewise, it’s been long enough. In terms of contest history though, it was practically yesterday. It’s understandable that you can’t have them so often (and I was surprised how generous the prizes you’re giving away for this one are).
In any case, I’m still plenty satisfied with that 20th anniversary poster from the Halloween 2007 contest, so I’ll sit this one out.
I don’t know. I don’t think it’s so much an “art contest” as a “creativity contest”.
I don’t want people just posing pretty girls in bathing suits on the beach. I want some real thought and emotion put into it. The halloween one I was judging on more artistic talent, how good compositions were, if it felt halloween-y and had a certain mood to it, if the costumes matched the characters. ..
But this time, I want ideas!
I dunno. I feel like I’m rambling, but I think people will get the point.
…and maybe once I get a steady job, I’ll host mini-art contests, that way I’d juice up the creativity flow, but the prizes will be small. Big prized art contests would be like, ever other year. ..or two years in this case o_O;;;;
And yeah, as cool as it would be for you to enter, rnn, winning twice in a row might not sit well with the other people entering XD I know you haven’t been really inspired lately either. :/ *misses rnn arts*

I can’t make music for beans, but I would definitely appreciate a music competition; all of the cool remixes etc it would generate would be great : )
Cool contest, Tabby. I loved seeing the submissions for the Halloween contest, even though I didn’t enter because Robonyanya told me not to. :p It’s a pity I know next to nothing about the Star Force series or I would have entered this time. Maybe for the next contest you can try something Legendsish to account for the flurry of news we’ve been hearing about a sequel recently. Some kind of mock-up MML3 box art perhaps? ^_~

I second the music competition idea! Music has taken over my drawing hobby almost completely. I use to draw all the time but as I got more into music, I found I didn’t have time to draw. I still might enter this contest though. I drew a pic a few months ago that turned out all right, but unfortunately it was heavily inspired by a photo. Also, I suck really bad at drawing hands. Too bad nobody wears mittens in the summer =P
