Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch Gets V3 Update, V4 Teaser

Last week, Cut Stuff's extremely popular Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch got a content and refinement update. The V3b patch adds updates and fixes to various maps and weapons. Furthermore, maps for Shadow Man, Top Man, Gemini Man, Spring Man, Burst Man and Wave Man have been replaced entirely with all new maps.

What's more, as you can see from the above video, Cut Stuff is already teasing a version 4 update, which will bring even more content to the game.

Thanks for the tip, Beed28! And to whoever showed me the version 4 trailer; I don't remember how I came across it!

Teaser Website Update for Mystery Collaboration Game; Trademark Update May Reveal Name

The mystery surrounding the Nintendo 3DS collaboration between Bandai Namco, Capcom, and SEGA continues, but at least now we know when more will be revealed. Previously, we covered the mysterious symbols that we suspect represent various mascots (including Mega Man X and Zero) from the three companies teaming up for the still-unnamed 3DS project. Now, the teaser site features a countdown to April 11th.  The number 032760 is entered into a code pad, and a yell and a siren is heard. The siren eventually fades into the background, leaving us with just the countdown, broken glass and a liquid:

The only other new information so far comes from a recent trademark update from Bandai Namco for a title called "Project X Zone," whose initials correspond with those in the official site's URL above. Even so, we still have no information about what kind of game this will be.

Across the internet, some fans are speculating as to what exactly this new teaser means, and if there is any pattern in the countdown screen. What do you think?

Some Element X Added to Banpresto's Science Experiment

We've been following Banpresto's teaser for a 3DS collaboration game between Capcom, Sega and Bandai Namco Games without any real certainty what to expect, and now the stakes have raised more for Mega Man fans. A new "pixelsome" has been added to the Petri that appears to represent Mega Man X; a followup to one that viewers have speculated is Zero.

Of course nothing is confirmed as to what the objects really represent, but fan speculation seems pretty sensible so far. One of the enigmatic notes even hints at viewers to look at the figures up-side-down, lending credibility to the character guesses. The questions remains, though: Just what kind of game is this?

As for the test subjects, perhaps this is what Reploid DNA is?

Thanks to Maverick-Jin8 for the tip!

Bandai/Bluefin Seeking Fan Involvement with Mega Man

Today Bluefin has contacted us with an interesting update. While we aren't able to give details yet, since they simply haven't been finalized, we've been informed to tell you of an upcoming activity that may have influence on the continuation of the Mega Man product line. This wouldn't be the first time something like this has occurred, and it did bear fruit, but it will be the first time western fans are targeted. For now you should keep your eyes on the Bluefin Tamashii Nations Facebook page, as well as their Twitter updates, as the event is expected to be coming sooner than later. You've been loving the D-Arts line so far, no? And Vile and Zero Ver. 2 are on the way. What else could you want!?

More Hype for Archie's Mega Man Comic

Archie has released yet another promotional teaser for the first issue of their Mega Man comic, which is releasing on May 4th. This blurb was also put out:

"Let the Games Begin!" Part One: The future looks bright when brilliant and benevolent Dr. Light unveils his latest creations: the Robot Masters! But when the nefarious Dr. Wily steals them for his own sinister purposes, there is no one left to stop him. No one – except Mega Man! Don't miss the first issue of this brand new ongoing series!

Additionally, issue #2 is set to release in June (I assume we can expect monthly releases of new issues). Full image after the break since it's not a great shape for article embedding.

UDON Teases "Biggest Mega Man Project Yet"

That's pretty much the whole story in the headline there. UDON Entertainment is planning to announce their biggest ever Mega Man project next week. And as a means to build the hype, they are releasing pieces of an image each day until then. The first of five, which looks like MegaMan Volnutt, is up now. Or... maybe it's X without his helmet, though I'm not so sure there. Perhaps the future image reveals will continue a Legends themed product, or perhaps reveal other series entirely?

Commence the five days of hype and speculation!

Edit - Image 2 uploaded! Looks like Zero's joined the party! - Tabby

New Rockman Online Trailer

Yet another fully animated teaser, featuring a handful of classic and X series baddies, including the likes of Air Man, Pharaoh Man, Cloud Man, Flame Hyenard, Ferham and Scarface. We also have Mega Man and Mega Man X finally meeting up for the first time. I'm still not totally sure what's going on in this world, but it's all kinds of crazy awesome.

Hopefully gameplay footage will be coming shortly.

Edit: According to the trailer info, the game is said to take place in 2XXX, and will come together as "the encounter of two generations, and the power of two heroes."

Capcom*Unity Reveals Next MM10 Promo Art, Mysterious Evil Man Appears (Update)

If you head on over to Capcom*Unity, you can work to get the next piece of Mega Man 10 artwork revealed. So far no pieces are up yet, but the fans are hard at it. Get your comments, Facebooks and Tweets ready! What will be revealed? We'll kep you updated as the image progresses. Wow, what a dark and foreboding figure we have here. Could this be Gerald De Jesus' interpretation of Bass? Or something entirely different? Also, here is the full mural. Click to enlarge!

Man, what is going on with this picture? What's the huge robot Mega Man is standing on now? I don't know, but I love it!

UPDATE: I just happened to notice. There's a little... bird-like creature on the mystery man. This could be a reference to Reggae, Wily's seldom seen pet. So perhaps this is Wily after all? If so, what happened to him!?

Another mysterious OSS post from Clark - Updated

A while back, the mascot of Capcom's Ryuusei no Rockman 3 Satellite Server Clark made a vauge comment about a program that could control time, a statement likely pointing at Rockman EXE: Operate Shooting Star's Clockman, who was revealed later. Today Clark brings up another curious statement concerning that program.

A while back I mentioned something about a "program that can control time," but it seems like they somehow completed a prototype!

Then, Ace comes to me and asks of all things "Clark, if you'd like, would you want that program installed in you?" It seems to be for data collecting, but to get a program like that installed... I get kind of a special feeling. Hmm, but why would Ace choose me?

Truthfully I don't know if this is supposed to hint at Operate Shooting Star's contents, or if this is just a small storyline to promote future site updates for the game. Either way we'll keep our eyes peeled.

08/19/09: Another message has been added to the site. Now, sadly, it seems Clark has been swallowed up by a time portal.

At last the day has come that the prototype "Clock Program," a program that controls time, has been installed in me!

I sought the reason why Ace chose me for this, and he said "Whatever happens to you, Clark, it's fine," which makes me feel a tad uneasy. But if it's to assist the Satella Police, I'll bravely go forth... Eeeyah!

*Bzzz-bzzzt! Bzzzzzzzzt!!!*

Err? What's this turbulent air...?

*Bzzz-bzzzzt*

Wh-what's happening!? What the heck is that warp hole-like thing... I'm... being sucked in.... Oo..ooowaah!!??

*Bzzzzt, bzzzzz-snap*

In all honesty, I believe this is little more than a gag that's meant to lead up to the revival of the Rockman EXE: Operate Shooting Star homepage. I don't expect Clark to play any role in the actual storyline, since I don't believe he was involved at all in Star Force 3's story. Still, we'll see what happens.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Spotlight: Iron Man vs. Mega Man

For you Marvel vs. Capcom 2 fans, Capcom has released the fourth episode of their spotlight teasers, this one featuring Iron Man and Mega Man. I'm not entirely sure what's happening here. I could guess that Mega Man accidentally stumbled upon Iron Man's lair, and confused him somehow for one of Wily's robot masters. But Mega Man just seems so... angry. I'm not sure what's come over him.

Below we also have some Iron Man vs. Mega Man promotional artwork, which was featured in the video. And if you like the style, the standalone picture of Mega Man is in our gallery. Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes comes out on Xbox Live Arcade July 29th and PlayStation Network August 13th.

Rockman EXE Operate Shooting Star site goes online, plus a storyline hint

exe_oss_logoCapcom of Japan has opened a teaser site for the upcoming EXE remake Rockman EXE Operate Shooting Star. Right now the site just gives a brief travel backwards of the EXE series' 6.5 million selling history, and introduces the promotional artwork. On top of that, there is a special message from series producer Takeshi Horinouchi. It reads as follows.

As we head towards Rockman's 25th anniversary, we are beginning to work on various projects, both big and small, thinking of what activities we'd like to work on. And though the Rockman EXE series ended three years ago, we're receiving a strong sentiment from everyone saying "We want EXE!" So, we the development team are thinking of this splendid title Rockman EXE: "Let's try doing something again..." ...That is, I myself wanted to see Rockman EXE and Netto one more time. Therefore, our next title is such. This game's inspiration is actually a celebratory image drawn by the designer for Rockman's 20th anniversary. From that time, I'd secretly been thinking "In time we should try something neat with 'EXE' and 'Ryuusei'." Thus, our next project "Rockman EXE Operate Shooting Star" has come to be started. Essentially, this is a Rockman EXE 1 remake for the DS, porting it and adding something extra. You the fans may be wondering, what sort of theme comes with combining EXE and Ryuusei? This is something that EXE fans of course, and Ryuusei fans as well, will enjoy. Details will be published the middle of next month, so please wait a little longer. So everybody, until it goes on sale, please look forward to seeing Rockman's and Netto's friendship! From here on, please give us your support.

While we can continue to speculate what role Star Force has in this series, it truly appears this is aimed at the foundation of Battle Network. Naturally, we will have more to report next month.

UPDATE: A rather curious message has appeared on the Ryuusei no Rockman 3 website. Accessing the Satellite Server, where one can see messages from the Satella Police wizard Clark, this came up at the same time the EXE:OSS site went online:

Currently, it sounds like the Satella Police are secretly developing a new program to be included in Wizards. It's rumored that if used one "can control time" but... is something like that really possible?

While it is technically only speculation, it is highly likely this message hints at OSS's contents, at least surrounding the character Clock Genius. A little food for thought, certainly.

Thanks to everyone who brought this to our attention.
