Guess Who's Who on MM10 Stage Themes, Tiny Sneak Peek at OST (Updated w/ Answers)

Over at the Spiceman blog, Inti Creates sound producer Ippo Yamada is holding a little quiz. This starts off with a small shot of the Rockman 10 OST, pictured to the right here, which is releasing in Japan next week! As for the quiz, Ippo gives this information. The eight main stage themes in Mega Man 10 were composed by a musician from an earlier Mega Man game (except for 9). These include:

1 - Blade Man 2 - Pump Man 3 - Commando Man 4 - Chill Man 5 - Sheep Man 6 - Strike Man 7 - Nitro Man 8 - Solar Man

The eight composers who worked on these songs are as follows:

A - Manami Matsumae (Mega Man, 2) B - Yasuaki Fujita (Mega Man 3, 4) C - Minae Fujii (Mega Man 4) D - Mari Yamaguchi (Mega Man 5) E - Yuko Takehara (Mega Man 6, 7) F - Makoto Tomozawa (Mega Man 7) G - Shusaku Uchiyama (Mega Man 8 ) H - Akari Kaida (Mega Man & Bass)

All you have to do is match the number of the song with the letter of the composer you think made the song. There's no prize or anything involved in this, just the fun of trying to get them all right. Go ahead and post your answers here, as I'll be asking Ippo to take a look here from time to time. The answers will be revealed on March 22nd. Good luck!

Incidentally, I've been in a betting pool with a few friends myself on who did what song, but we were all certain Solar Man was by Inti Creates' Ryo Kawakami, so I guess we'll have to go back and rethink...

Update: And the answers are finally out. Let's see how everyone did.

Blade Man's Stage is by Akari Kaida (1-H) Pump Man's Stage is by Yuko Takehara (2-E) Commando Man's Stage is by Minae Fujii (3-C) Chill Man's Stage is by Shusaku Uchiyama (4-G) Sheep Man's Stage is by Mari Yamaguchi (5-D) Strike Man's Stage is by Makoto Tomozawa (6-E) Nitro Man's Stage is by Manami Matsumae (7-A) Solar Man's Stage is by Yasuaki Fujita (8-B)

After moving Fujita out of Solar Man's spot, I got every single one wrong. I'm probably going to quit the site now.

Mega Man 10 Contest Results Are In

Our amazing Mega Man 10 contest has come to a close. I was very astounded by the results - we got roughly 280 entries for this contest! That's over three times greater than the response to our Mega Man 9 contest. That also means your odds of being selected were about one in twenty-eight. Hey, that's a lot better than the state lottery! At any rate, the ten winning entrants were randomly selected and graded early Thursday morning. Having gotten in touch with them all, I am now happy to congratulate our Mega Man 10 Contest winners!

To everyone else, I thank you deeply for participating. The results were certainly overwhelming, and after the judging I couldn't help but feel a little sad that we couldn't give away more. However, I'm certain we will have more contests in the future, and I hope you participate in those as well!

To our ten winners, we've still yet to judge the results to award the bonus prize. This should happen soon, and we'll keep you posted. I've already got the Mega Man 10 poster in, and man is it ridiculously awesome! Be sure to have some good wall space for this one!

Finally, we have posted the quiz answers on the contest details page. You can now check how many of your answers were correct.

Many thanks again to every one who entered!

Mega Man 10 Contest Reminder and Notes

The opportunity to win Mega Man 10 in our contest is coming to an end this Wednesday at midnight. That means you only have three days left to enter! The response so far has been amazing: in the first two days of the contest we'd already received more entries than our Mega Man 9 contest got in its entire run. You guys must really want Mega Man 10! I've been hearing some questions about how the contest will be judged, and when the winners will be announced. Also, some people have sent in entries without including their system info. I'm here to cover these concerns and more.

Judging and announcement: The contest ends Wednesday at midnight, PST. Quiz grading will then take place the following Thursday morning or early afternoon. The winners will be notified via e-mail that they've won that day. Then, the winners will be announced on the site with the final results and quiz answers probably by Sunday.

Forgotten system info: If you forgot to include what system you want Mega Man 10 for with your entry, have no concern. If you win and didn't include your system info, we will of course ask for said information when we notify you that you've won. Besides that, if you're a Wii owner you'll have to get our system info (and determine whether you live in the US or Canada). Please be attentive to the outcome if you want Mega Man 10 on the Wii, because it's coming very soon!

Release dates: Remember that Mega Man 10 is hitting the respective consoles at different dates: March 1st for the Wii, March 11th for the PS3 and March 31st for the 360. If you requested Mega Man 10 for the 360, we cannot get it to you any sooner than March 31st. Rest assured, though, that we will do everything in our power to get you the game on the day it's released. And of course, if for any unforeseen complication prohibits us from delivering the game, we will deliver you the funds to cover it (but we'd much prefer to deliver the game).

Mystery bonus prize: As we've said, of the ten winners, one will be selected to receive a mystery bonus prize depending on the answer to question 25 we like the most. This judging will not take place at the same time as the quiz grading, and I do not know the specific day the prize will be sent, but it will probably be within the week of March 1st. The bonus prize will need to be sent via mail, so if selected you will need to provide a receiving address.

As for what the mystery prize is, I don't know when we'll announce that, but probably soon. However, if you head over to WingDamage.com and get their Barrel Roll #54 podcast (should come up on Tuesday), I may have participated in said podcast and dropped some kind of information pertaining to a bonus prize. Just saying!

Anyway, the deadline is fast approaching, but you still have plenty of time to get your entries in! It's not a terribly hard quiz, honest!

Want Mega Man 10? How do you feel about winning it?

Mega Man 10 will be gracing us in a mere two weeks. Hopefully, if you're reading this post, you want it. Because we're going to give you the opportunity to win it. And not just one of you but TEN of you! That's right, ten of you lucky readers will be winning Mega Man 10 on the console of your choice in our biggest contest ever! Why are we doing this? You see, we here at The Mega Man Network, well, we're evil. We're evil and we want to buy your love as if it were any mundane commodity. We have long ago learned that love is not some special emotion, but a mere element to be extracted and paid for. We use this love, which is worth far more than what we're giving you, to power our global factories that create robots which club seals and drive slowly on the freeway. But none of this matters to you in the slightest, because YOU COULD WIN MEGA MAN 10!!!

So how do you go about winning? Well, all you need to do is get a perfect score on our brand new Mega Man super quiz. It's that easy!... Or is it? (It is.) Just go here to check out the guidelines and instructions, and then take the quiz! This contest will be open for the next ten days, until midnight PST on Wednesday, February 24th. While I know "real" Mega Man fans should be able to clear this quiz in under a minute, feel free to use whatever resources to find the answers.

Good luck to you all!
