Intuition! Rockman Footage - The Silliest Mega Man Game Ever

Another little known Rockman cell phone game finally gets some exposure. Intuition! Rockman was released in Japan in January of 2008. A very unusual game, you could perhaps liken it to Mega Man's take on WarioWare. The game is a collection of simple and humorous minigames. Aside from being a Japan only game, it only works on cell phones that have an accelerometer for motion control. Because of that, it probably didn't get terribly too much attention. Which in itself is sad, because the game is so deliciously awesome (in a novel sort of way).

The story of the game has Dr. Wily finishing his next latest invention which will assuredly win him the world. But as if on cue, Mega Man drops in to stop him. However, he proves to be no match for Wily's machine, which is impervious to any of Mega Man's attacks, though Wily himself is troubled that the machine doesn't actually do anything. Roll comes in with a message from Dr. Light suggesting to shake the machine if attacks don't work. Angered, Dr. Wily traps Roll in his machine to power it up even more.

By shaking the phone (which makes Mega Man shake the machine), minigame cards pop out. Each minigame cleared, which is themed with a different Mega Man character, damages Dr. Wily's machine a little, until you can defeat him completely.

So how weird are the games? How about a dance battle with Elec Man? Or guiding Fire Man to ski down a birthday cake? There's even a final battle where you're trying to drive Dr. Wily insane. You can watch the above video to bask in all the zaniness. The game primarily borrows from 8-bit Mega Man graphics, but there are a load of new sprites and such as well. I love Mega Man's victory stance!

Operate Shooting Star battle screen, minigame revealed

4976219032193-2Japanese online shop Rakuten has a pre-order page for Rockman EXE: Operate Shooting Star that shows what Capcom has been trying to hide so far: the battle system. One sole screen shows a battle window that looks virtually identical to the one from the original MegaMan Battle Network. The only noticeable difference is that the custom window only has two lines instead of three, which show the letter code for each chip - basically how the chip system worked from Battle Network 2 and on. This makes me also wonder if OSS will have * chip codes. Additionally, they've also announced a minigame included in OSS called the Rockman Star Colosseum, or "RockColo." While lacking in details, it mentions the game consists of versus battling, and up to six players can play wirelessly with just one cartridge, which sounds similar to Star Force 2's Sky High Colosseum.

With this leak of the battle picture, I expect a full reveal of the battle system from Capcom pretty soon.

First "Made In Ore" Rockman appears

I've not yet given myself the opportunity to get into WarioWare, which is curious considering I'm sickeningly addicted to Rhythm Heaven. But that's another story. The resently released "Made In Ore," or WarioWare: Myself! as it will be known to us, allows players to make their own minigames. So it's unsurprising that people would use it to represent their favorite franchises. Well, as you've probably already seen from above, we already have one created by Tarbosan that features Rockman EXE, where the right timing is needed to blast the moving virus. Pretty simplistic, and unfortunately the video has no sound. However, you can check out the making of the game on his blog. Pretty novel idea.

A lot of neat Mega Man minigames could come about with this, as I've read you will be able to upload and share your creations. I do have to wonder, though, how tightly monitored the network will be in response to copyrighted materials. It would seem like a waste if people can't share games with the franchises they love.
