Mega Man Legends 3 Devroom is on a Roll

How's that for a nice pun? This week Mega Man Legends 3 art director Yuji Ishihara takes us back to Roll's redesign, giving us a little more in-depth information. Included is a bit of concept artwork of her emotional range, which includes imagery of her serving as a Spotter; something we don't get to see in the games. Ishihara also explains just how useful these simple images become:

Based on these concept illustrations, our scenario planners come up with dialogue and actions for the character, the illustrators provide new illustrations, the event planners create new facial expressions and storyboards, and the motion staff create movements and mannerisms that help expression the character's personality.

Be sure to read the whole post for all the details. And be sure to keep up with Devroom and give your support! As you can see that's kind of a theme we've started up here.

Your Battle Network Questions Answered

Well probably not all of them, nearly. But you may recall that Capcom invited questions to the developers of Mega Man Battle Network in honor of the series' 10th anniversary back in March. Capcom has now posted their select answers, from series artist Yuji Ishuhara and series scenario planner Masakazu Eguchi (aka Mr. Famous). Even our own Tabby got a question answered: Q: (Tabby) I have a question more directed at Ishihara-San. What was your favorite character design, and why?

A: (Ishihara) I love all the characters of Battle Network. My number one favorite tends to vary depending on when I’m asked, but right now Wind Man seems to come to mind. He’s graceful yet domineering—a true stud. In fact, this made me want to draw a picture of him, so I did!

Celebrate 10 Years of Mega Man Battle Network by Giving the Creators Your Questions

Last week, we here at The Mega Man Network celebrated ten years of Mega Man Battle Network with a few words and a glimpse back at some of what came over the course of those ten years. And today, Capcom has joined in the fun of celebrating their own franchise with what can only be described as a pleasant surprise. Capcom Unity has gotten together with Eguchi-san (former scenario staff member for Battle Network 1&2, as well as scenario leader for Battle Network 3-6) and Ishihara-san (who designed the characters for all six Battle Network games), and they are now taking your questions about the series. Following next week's Captivate event (which our own Heat Man will be attending, provided his legs hold out longer than Mega Man's), there will be another blog post with the questions selected as the best of the bunch answered.

Please carefully note that unlike our collaboration with Archie, this does not involve The Mega Man Network in any official capacity, and you need to make sure you leave your questions in their comments section. We'll let you know when they update with the answers.
