The Mega Man X Costume Featured on Nerdist Can Now Be Yours!

$(KGrHqN,!k8FEMDdnzC4BRedL5uGRw~~60_57Remember the Mega Man X cosplay featured on the Nerdist YouTube channel a few months ago? Originally worn at the New York 2012 Comic-Con, this piece can now be yours! The costume now sits on eBay, pre-owned (of course) but "in excellent shape," and is waiting for a new home with a $130 Buy-It-Now.

You can find more pictured and information here, including the measurements, materials involved, what sort of durability it has, and shipping details.

Thanks to Nick P. for the tip!

Nerdist's Cosplay Confidential Showcases Mega Man X from NYCC 2012

Over on former Attack of the Show and Singled Out (among many other things) host Chris Hardwick's Nerdist YouTube channel is a new "Just Cos" video from the 2012 New York Comic-Con. It features Martin, who designed and created his a Mega Man X cosplay to wear to the event, and Nerdist's cameras give us a behind-the-scenes look at what he did to bring it all together.

One might notice that Martin's design is not a spot-on representation of the same version of X we see in the games. As the proportions of the character make a 1:1 translation an iffy proposition, he took some cues from other sources and created a version of the character he can truly call his own.

All in all, not bad, and the more positive press for Mega Man, the better!

Video of Archie's NYCC Comic Panel

We just got word of this video recording of the Archie Comics panel from the New York Comic-Con which took place earlier this year, and while most of this stuff is old news by now, we wanted to share it here for those interested. If you're looking for the Mega Man-centric part of the half-hour video, it begins just before the 19-minute mark, and if we're not mistaken, 22:11 shows a cover we haven't seen a proper image of yet, styled after the old North American Capcom box art for the NES.

Thanks for the tip, Big Al Son and Dejimon11!

Bandai on X vs. Legends and More

As we all know, Bluefin Tamashii Nations and Bandai like their polls, including those which tell them what Mega Man fans want from the seven different series and their respective casts which comprise the franchise. They've gathered information via Facebook as well as the New York Comic-Con, though the latter may have presented a bit of a snag for many of the Mega Man Legends fans who voted on Facebook. When chatting on the Preorder66 podcast (18:50 in), Bandai's Adam Nemwman said that the company had believed that there was a tremendous demand for Mega Man Legends, with Facebook voters specifically calling for MegaMan Volnutt and Tron Bonne, but their poll at the 2012 New York Comic-Con told them another story. There, he says, response more strongly favored Mega Man X. He adds that the company still wants to do Legends, but that for now, those plans will have to be delayed.

For what it's worth, they say they still want feedback on Facebook, though we can understand how a statement such as the one above might make some skeptical. However, Nemwman also pointed out that their Mega Man products make up 80 percent of Tamashii's sales in the U.S. alone-- stronger here than in Japan, no less-- so that might give them plenty of reason to pay attention to that Facebook feedback.

Finally (for the Mega Man stuff, at least), they're still undecided about releasing the Sigma D-Arts mock-up they showed off at the San Diego Comic-Con. They know people want to see him in fully-articulated glory, but they're still working out the finer mechanical points to see if they can do just that.

Some More Worlds Collide Teaser Images from NYCC 2012

So far as we've heard, there hasn't really been much "news," per se, about Archie's Mega Man comic to come out of New York Comic-Con 2012. However, there was a little bit of talk about the upcoming crossover with Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic Universe, "Worlds Collide." Well, we're assuming there was talk. But honestly, all we have are images. In addition to the ad Heat Man posted yesterday, there were a couple of slides during the Archie Action Hour panel on Sunday showing off what may be another ad or cover, as well as a checklist of titles showing which issues the story will cover and, presumably, the chronological order they'll run in.

Both images come courtesy of TSSZ News; check them out below, and then you can see the other Sonic-related images here. And if you know of any more Mega Man-related info of news, please don't hesitate to drop us a line!

Capcom Unity Chats It Up with Ian Flynn at NYCC 2012

Watch live video from Capcom-Unity on TwitchTV What happens when the company behind one of our favorite video game franchises and the writer behind one of our favorite comic books converge on the same convention? Well, if you guessed that they'd meet up... well, you're right. What are the odds?

Pretty good when it's Capcom Unity and Ian Flynn, writer of Archie's Mega Man comic book, and now you can check out the live community chat they had earlier today in the viewer above. Our own Tabby even got to ask a question (though we're not sure whether it made it in or not), so keep an ear out for that!

Archie to Hold Mega Man/Sonic the Hedgehog Comic Panel at NYCC

Given the past couple of years, it should come as no surprise that Archie Comics will once again be hosting a panel dedicated to our two favorite blue boys of video game comics at this year's New York Comic Con. This time, however, the Two in Blue will also be seeing a little red-- Red Circle Comics, that is. Speaking at the panel will be editor Paul Kaminski and Mike Pellerito, President of Archie Comics, as they talk about Mega Man, Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Universe, and The New Crusaders, as well as showing off artwork, answering questions, and even teasing us a little more with what's to come from "When Worlds Collide," the crossover between Mega Man and the Sonic titles slated for next year.

Following are the full details of the panel from the NYCC website.

Archie Action Hour: Sonic, Mega Man and Red Circle Comics #280

Location: 1A08

Speakers: Mike Pellerito, Paul Kaminski

The editorial mastermind behind both books, Paul Kaminski, is joined by Archie Comics President Mike Pellerito with more info about the biggest comic book event of the year as well as what’s on tap for Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Universe, and Mega Man. Team Legends Comes Bearing Gifts for Capcom's Seth Killian

Despite the unfortunate mishap in interview scheduling at New York Comic-Con earlier in the weekend, there were apparently no hard feelings between Team Legends and Capcom's Seth Killian. Following the saxophone-driven fan march through the convention center to Capcom's booth, the group came bearing not pitchforks or torches, as some of you might have expected, but gifts:

T-shirts, stories from fans, and an enormous banner of pictures were presented to Killian to demonstrate the desire held by Mega Man Legends fans from not only the New York Comic-Con, but all over the world. The hope seems to be, with any luck, that these materials will be passed on to the higher-ups at Capcom, perhaps prompting a little Grinch-styled heart-growing.

In addition, Jake Hans of the 100,000 Strong for Mega Man Legends 3 Facebook Group says that they did finally get their interview, a whopping 20 minutes' worth, and that will be coming sometime tonight.

Great job, guys! We wish we could have been there to show our support in person, as it looks like it would have been a blast.

Videos of Team Legends from the 2011 New York Comic-Con

Well, the New York Comic-Con has come to a close, and everything that was going to happen there has happened. As we begin trawling around for items of interest, we've checked in with 100,000 Strong for Mega Man Legends 3 Facebook group to see if they ever got a make-up interview. And while there is no sign of that (yet), what we did find were some videos of Team Legends' activities. Perhaps the most interesting is the footage captured from what we think is the "peaceful demonstration" by the group, as they marched the aisles of the convention center, spreading their message proudly as they closed in on their destination, Capcom's booth:

Servbots, Mega Men, and Dr. Wily, oh my! And props to the guy belting out Mega Man 2 (edit: or Mega Man Legends... whoops) tunes on the saxophone.

(Edit: Video taken down upon request; we're told there should be a better version coming soon.)

Prior to that, YouTube user BlueWizard42288 posted some short videos each day from the "Get Me Off the Moon" booth. Day 1 gives us a look at the early goings of the show, before the convention gets into full swing:

...Mega-love the Mega-sketch on the Mega-table.

Day 2 features more sketches on their tablecloth, a television setup for playing Mega Man Legends 2, and a look at some of the signatures they've gathered for the effort:

And Day 3 shows us a closer look at the cool Servbot banner, which features pieces of art submitted by fans from all over the world:

And finally, if you didn't watch their live-stream, they had a wrap-up for each day's events, each of which you can see on their UStream channel.

All said, this was a pretty impressive showing, all things considered, and we do applaud the persistence and tenacity they have put into their efforts. It should be interesting to see where they go from here!

Roll Gets Carded in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3... (Update)

...but she won't be having anything stronger than an E Tank tonight. After all, she's ten. But seriously: a new mode for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has been revealed at the New York Comic-Con, called "Heroes vs. Heralds." It seems that the purpose of this mode is to assemble a group of heroes to combat a team of Silver Surfer-ized fighters who, we assume, have been granted the Power Cosmic by Galactus in order to serve as his heralds.

This mode uses different collectible character cards to unlock new moves, and among the characters featured is none other than Mega Man's sister, Roll. The trailer has not been officially released yet, so far as we can tell, but you can view someone's shaky-cam recording of it below:

Apparently, this mode won't be included on the retail release, but will be available as a free download following the game's launch.

Thanks for the tip, PStart!

Update: And thanks to word from Unknown and a picture from thegolfcourse, who was at the panel, we can see that Mega Man X is another card, too. How many more will there be? We'll bring you word as it comes.

Legends at NYCC, Legends for Charity, Legends from Japan, and Inafune Talks About Legends 3, Too

Quite a bit of Mega Man Legends stuff going on here... but then, what did we expect for a news tip from the 100,000 Strong for Mega Man Legends 3 Facebook group (by way of Treleus)? Star Force? First up is this schedule of events that the group has planned for their appearance at the New York Comic-Con. Tournaments, bumper stickers, live streaming, t-shirts, and buttons are all part of the plan for this get-together in the Apple MarketBig Apple. Perhaps the most interesting of all will be the "peaceful demonstration" planned for 1pm on Sunday. Hopefully Capcom doesn't break out the Mega Mace for this one.

Ah, but seriously: we wish them the best of luck here. We don't rate their chances of convincing Capcom with this event, but the only way to truly lose is to stop fighting.

You can see pics of the booth as it currently stands here.

Another event happening on Sunday the 16th is Extra Life, a gaming charity to aid children's hospitals through Children's Miracle Network. Over the course of 24 hours, 100,000 Strong member Josh Ousley will be playing through both Mega Man Legends and Mega Man Legends 2. Sure, that's only going to serve to put MegaMan on the moon, but it's still up to Capcom to help get him off.

If that wasn't enough charity, a second event called the True Blue Marathon, which will have two competing teams playing games from Mega Man and Sonic the Hedgehog to raise money for WVU Children's Hospital.

Inspired by all that has been happening on this side of the Pacific, Japanese fans have been "inspired and rejuvenated," with CAP Kobun leading an effort to capture and translate the entire Rockman DASH cell phone game (the first part of which we will be posting the translation for this weekend on MMN). He also offers the following words of encouragement:

"For working hard to bring Mega Man Legends 3 back to the forefront of the fan community, I'd like to show you my appreciation from the bottom of my heart."

"I'm so thankful to you for taking this opportunity to show Capcom how we feel directly. Unfortunately a lot of Mega Man fans are disappointed, and they are actually giving up. Please keep shining your beacon of hope unto us all. Let's share the joys of someday reviving Mega Man Legends 3 together!"

Update: We have been informed by Amunshen on Twitter that the above words actually come from a fan named Ryouta, rather than from CAP Kobun. We apologize for the misunderstanding.

Finally, longtime Mega Man producer Keiji Inafune recently gave an interview to Famitsu, with the 100,000 Strong group providing a translation of the parts relevant to Mega Man, including his ongoing desire to continue Legends 3 and how he feels Battle Network is all tied up:

Question : Out of every series you've worked on, which would you like to continue the most?

In response, Inafune explained about the kind of game where the creator wouldn't want or need to make a sequel. These are the games in which the story is completely concluded in every corner of the creator's mind. As an example, Inafune cited Mega Man Battle Network. He ultimately concludes that for him, there is no part of that story left to tell.

On the other hand, Mega Man Legends was the one series that he has wanted to continue for years. That's why he started the Mega Man Legends 3 Project before he left Capcom, but as you probably know, the project has been axed since then.

"Honestly, I still wanna make it." Inafune says. However, since he left the company, unless Capcom commissions him to make the game he can never work on Mega Man Legends 3 again.

Inafune goes on to describe the bond between creator and creation, and how the rights to call such things theirs does not tend to stay with the ones who created them. After what happened with Mega Man Legends 3, Inafune chose to do what he could to change this with his newly-announced Nintendo 3DS title, KAIO (King of Pirates), by placing his own copyright mark of "KI" (Keiji Inafune, of course) alongside the Marvelous AQL logo. This, he says, is the evidence he is the original creator.

"For a creator, the creation is like his child," Inafune said. "With KAIO, I wanted to state that fact on paper and make it official." This led to the contract he signed with Marvelous AQL, wherein the company has acknowledged and honored the right for him to retain KAIO the original creation as his own.

Will Capcom ever relent, and allow Inafune to realize the dream? Only time will tell.

For the full report on all of the above, be sure to check out this post at the 100,000 Strong for Mega Man Legends 3 Facebook group.

Mr. Capcom Goes to Comic-Con (and 100,000 Strong, Too!) (Updated)

In addition to the presence of Archie Comics at this weekend's New York Comic-Con (October 13th to 17th at New York City’s Javits Center), Capcom will also have a presence there, with a full lineup of events announced in a press release issued earlier this morning. As far as we know, there are no plans for a Mega Man presence there (outside of the aforementioned Archie stuff), but on Sunday, October 16th in room 1A06 of the American Airlines Theater from 12:15 to 1:15pm, they will be holding a "World of Capcom" panel. Dragon's Dogma and Asura's Wrath are set to be the highlights, as well as Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, but the panel will be capped off by a Q&A session, and we're quite sure that plenty of you undoubtedly have questions. Just try to keep it civil, okay?

Also, from 2:45 to 3:45 pm the day prior (Saturday, October 15th, for those who need it spelled out), the same room will play host to an Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 panel. Presentations, pummellings (in-game, of course), and prizes will be the order of the day, and this too will have a Q&A session. Again, please keep it civil-- you have every right to be angry, but at least try to be dignified about it.

Finally (as far as this site is concerned), they will also be set up right by the entrance to the Exhibit Hall in booth #722 throughout the weekend, so there will be plenty of opportunity there to make your voices heard.

Of course, you need not be the lone voice in the crowd when it comes to supporting the Blue Bomber. Commander Blues, of our affiliate Mega Man Legends Station, plans to have a booth of his own at New York Comic-Con called "NYCC Team Legends" to raise awareness and support from fans for Mega Man Legends 3, if not Mega Man in general. The announcement was tentative and awaiting further confirmation, however, but we have not been able to find the update amidst the flood of posts on the 100,000 Strong Facebook group.

Incidentally, if they did get the booth, wouldn't it be fantastic if they were set up right across from Capcom? Just saying...

Update: In addition to some substantiation in the comments below, Protodude apparently found the updated post in question, which notes that Capcom of Japan has apparently taken notice of their presence, plus the following video:

"What we need to do is prove to Capcom's decision makers that there is a big enough fanbase to support this game," says Jake Hans, of Get Me Off the Moon International Strategies. "We are so inspired by the series, that we are willing to market the game at NYCC 2011 for Capcom! We were literally one step away from being able to support Legends 3 with our wallets."

If you would like to take part, you can contact the organizers at

The group adds, "Just to be sure everything is clear, our objective is not to hurt Capcom's image but rather improve the image of the Mega Man Legends series. The truth is the Legends 3 team included key staff members on Monster Hun[t]er, Lost Planet, and Basara (Source). Attacking Capcom is counterproductive to the cause since it is essentially attacking the Legends 3 team members who worked so hard."

You can read up more on the effort and other related projects here.
