Minecraft is one heck of a thing. Besides standing on its own to become something of a modern-day gaming cult classic, people go on to create the most amazing things within the boundaries of the world they are given. Some create working calculators; others, art. In this case, TheNM22 has harvested enough resources and material to create a number of works inspired by the NES and beyond, including plenty of Mega Man. At the time they wrote to us, they had assembled a complete recreation of the Mega Man 2 stage select screen, which you can see at right (click to enlarge), but since then, they've gone on to round out the initial trilogy. See for yourself here.
But that's far from all; keep reading to see some of more of TheNM22's Mega Man-inspired Minecraft masterpieces.
If you're a fan of Minecraft and/or Mega Man Legends, this is to you. You may recall "Blockman DASH," the custom Minecraft theme that gives the building adventure game a Legends-y makeover. User MegaManTrigger has taken over the project, and is looking for people to help continue the work. Trigger is particularly in need of someone who can extract sound effects from the original Mega Man Legends games. He'd also like to get textures from the games as well. If this is something you're capable of, head over to his thread and enlist. I'm sure he and other Minecraft players will be very appreciative!
If you've been active on the internet, chances are pretty good that you've heard of this whole "Minecraft" thing. If not, here's a primer. Despite being in Alpha, the game is blowing up huge. The game might not be in a finished state, but that isn't stopping the mod community from going nuts. What does this have to do with Mega Man? Well, it seems even the Minecraft community has got a case of Mega Man Legends 3 Fever. A group of very dedicated fans have re-skinned all of Minecraft's textures, swapped out its sound effects, changed its items, and more to turn Minecraft into the cleverly titled "Blockman DASH". It sure beats my simple Legends mod.
You can find a full list of features as well as the download link for the mod (and its first patch) on the Blockman DASH thread in the Minecraft forums.
