GameXplain Reviews the SEGA Genesis Mini and Mega Man: The Wily Wars

We’re less than a week away from the release of the SEGA Genesis Mini, and the reviews are already starting to come in. Fortunately, the majority of them are positive, including this one from our friends over at GameXplain:

With that said, it’s no secret by now that this unit may hold a certain special interest for Mega Man fans, as it marks the first proper physical release of Mega Man: The Wily Wars in North America. This former SEGA Channel exclusive has been an elusive part of many a fan’s collections, either having to be imported from Japan (with the caveat that the text is in Japanese), Europe (with the caveat of it running slower), or via bootlegged reproduction cartridges (which kind of explains itself).

With that said, Ash Paulsen took a separate look at this three-in-one title in its own review:

For what it’s worth, I by and large agree with everything Ash says here, except I might like it just a little bit more (going by the review scale).

Of course, the news of this release was slightly spoiled somewhat by Retro-Bit’s recent announcement that they will be producing their own reproduction cartridges of the game, complete with a unique, shiny blue cartridge.

The SEGA Genesis Mini will arrive in stores on September 19th, 2019 at a price of $79.99 US/$99.99 CAD/£69.99/€79.99/AUD$139.95, and include 42 games (with Mega Man: The Wily Wars counting as but one) lovingly ported by the masters at M2.
