Next Time on Death Battle: A Mega Man Battle Royale!

During the end credits of the latest Death Battle between Aquaman (no, not the Robot Master, the other one. No, not the NetNavi, the other — the DC Comics guy, okay?) and Namor the Sub-Mariner, it was revealed that the next episode will be a five-man battle royale… or rather, a five-Mega Man battle royale.

Squaring off in this clash will be the original Mega Man, Mega Man X, MegaMan Volnutt, MegaMan.EXE, and Star Force MegaMan. Why those five? Because they’re the ones featured in Mega Man’s Final Smash in the Super Smash Bros. games.

“There’s more to it than just that,” explains director Ben B. Singer in the latest Death Battle Cast, but that they’ll get more into the specifics in further episodes of the podcast. “But that was kind of the selling factor for me.”

It’s expected that the episode may run a little longer than normal, due to having five combatants to the normal two, and “there’s a lot to cover.”

Between the characters’ similar looks and changing color schemes, it seems that keeping track of everything was a bit of task for the animators, as one Mega Man would be mistakenly used in place of another once or twice, but “it was quickly caught.”

Tales of the tape should begin rolling out soon on the newly-rebranded Death Battle! YouTube channel, and the final product will be available to Rooster Teeth First members on February 25th, with YouTube following two days later on the 27th.
