Johnny Vs. Mega Man X5 and Mega Man X6

Johnny is back as his Mega Man X marathon continues, and just as he looked at Mega Man X2 and Mega Man X3 together, so too does he look at Mega Man X5 and Mega Man X6 together as well. Be warned of Not Safe For Work language:

Incidentally, he makes a pretty good point about the length of time between Mega Man X5 and Mega Man X6‘s release dates being little excuse for how the latter turned out, citing other games — including some in this very series — that worked with similar time frames and came out better.

And do the Nightmare Effects really start happening regardless? It’s been a while since I last played Mega Man X6, so I don’t even quite remember. That said, he does point out some of my grievances with the game, including the way it likes to lock the player into no-win situations where you’ve no choice but to die (after being stuffed with lives) or reset.

Next time, Johnny gets Xtreme… and Xtreme 2. I’d probably need a break before handling Mega Man X7 as well. Should be interesting to see what he thinks of those two.
