New Hack Restores Ending and Features to Mega Man Soccer

Those looking for something different from the Blue Bomber back in 1994 certainly found it with the Super Nintendo Entertainment System release of Mega Man Soccer. However, excited robo-sports fans didn’t quite get what they were after when, as it would be revealed later thanks to hackers, that the game had some features and even its endings cut from the release — despite this content seemingly being available on the cartridge!

But now, thanks to the efforts of the mysterious “Q,” the game can now be played as it was originally intended, thanks to a newly released ROM hack. With it in place, you’ll not only get the endings to the Capcom Championship and Tournament Modes, but you’ll also be able to play as Dr. Wily in the exhibition and set the Time and S.Shoots up to 99 in the Options menu.

You can find the hack here, but that’s all the info I can give you. I can only assume that there is some way to apply this to a legitimately-purchased copy of the game, as I have no other idea how else one would play the game.

But seriously, here’s a question for you: Let’s say Retro-bit or someone decided to do a new release of the game. Should they use this hacked version, or would you rather something more authentic to the actual retail release?

Thanks to Jo Li for the tip!
