New Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Story Trailer Headlines New Announcements

In case you missed the blurb on the front page, there are what might be considered some spoilerish things among the contents here, so consider yourself forewarned.

Still here? Awesome.

So Capcom has unveiled some new information about Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite ahead of its appearance at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany this weekend. Headlining things is this new trailer for the game's story mode, which reveals even more characters:

The newest additions to the roster are Jedah of Darkstalkers fame, Dr. Strange's nemesis Dormammu, Firebrand from Ghosts 'n Goblins and his own Gargoyles Quest series, and Ghost Rider (I'm not sure which one). In addition to bringing the launch lineup to 30 strong, Capcom notes that more post-launch characters will be announced in the future.

In addition, one might notice that Dr. Light appears in his startlingly sentient-seeming holographic form as well. Now this is pure conjecture on my part, but since they've already got the modeling work done for him, wouldn't it be cool if he were somehow playable (using Ryu's move set, of course)?

Dr. Light's presence reaches beyond the story mode, however, as the "Dr. Light Database" is where you'll find all your unlockables, ranging from story mode cutscenes, information about characters and stages, concept art, and tracks for characters and stages.

The full assortment of modes and features reads as follows, per Capcom's press release:

  • Offline Modes and Features:
