A Brief Investigation into Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite

First, a Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow denizens of Canada! And for everyone else in North America, worry not, for you have a most momentous occasion to celebrate as well: The anniversary of the release of Super Mario Bros. 2 for the Nintendo Entertainment System!

Anyway, today’s post comes to us from one Liam Robertson, a gaming historian whose work you may recognize from the likes of Unseen64, Did You Know Gaming, and Nintendo Life. With the recent release of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite not quite living up to fans’ expectations in light of Capcom’s other releases in the genre, Robertson investigated what happened by speaking to employees of the company to get to the bottom of things:

This certainly provides some head-scratchers, such as why a budget so low would be applied to so high-profile a game as this; perhaps they were hoping to coast by on the popularity of the Marvel brand to maximize profits?

The video also highlights what appears to be something of a disconnect between developers and management, but I’m pretty sure that’s nothing new — especially where Mega Man is concerned.
