Mega Man Fan Convention Mega GAM Con Coming to Utah

It might look something like this, but with more to do than posing for a big overhead camera.

I’ve been doing this Mega Man Network thing for a number of years now, and one thought that’s always been in the back of my mind has been “what if I were to put together a Mega Man convention?”

Once upon a time, I thought it might work, except the logistics involved were a little more than I felt I could handle — the biggest obstacle being that I live in Canada, and I’m not sure how well a local (for me) event dedicated solely to Mega Man would do. (Plus, there’s the whole money thing.) With the decline of the franchise and the fandom not being quite what it was during the heyday of the early to mid-aughts, I put the idea away into the back of my mind.

It seems someone may have been doing some rummaging through my cobwebs, though, as Sean “Nz17” Robinson has reached out to say that his G.A.M. (Games, Anime, and More) Convention is planning a special Mega Man gathering called “Mega G.A.M. Con” this summer at the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham in Naples, Utah.

All sorts of events are planned for the eight and a half hour convention, including viewings of the Ruby-Spears Mega Man animated series, a cosplay competition, trivia, panels, and of course, lots of Mega Man games to play. Depending on how many tickets are sold (and Likes for their Facebook group) before June 9th, 2016 (Rockman Day), various rewards are set to be “unlocked,” including additional games and even special guests of honor from current and/or past American and Japanese Mega Man staff.

Tickets go for $20, while children age 9 and under can get in for free. For more information, including a full list of activities, panels, and events, visit their website by clicking here.
